Yuzu already watches all notable competitions, and I'm sure he has thoughts on them. I would kill to know what they are lol, especially the spicier ones. We already know he found the ice dance competition at Euros to be a little suspicious tbh if Yuzu started commentating the less popular disciplines/events their viewership would shoot up dramatically

this quad lutz is really perfect. boyang's quad lutz is breathtaking too, as well as a bit more stable than Yuzu's, but when Yuzu hits his perfectly it's really the best in the field because of the outflow and landing position, imo

I think Rika's actually more strong willed and independently minded than she lets on. Her personal manner may appear meek, but from what I've heard she's very self directed in practices.

rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic that's what this is judges are the problem. to arrive at a solution, change how judges are recruited, trained, and evaluated

sorry, I think when someone is that deluded it's better to laugh at them than to be angry at them. there's a level of stupid that's not fixable
-
hope they can develop I-scope to measure rotations. that would be the real coup (against the tech panel, which can go back to spending 99% of its time counting spin and step levels like it actually makes a big difference)

I second all of this. To be honest, my interest in figure skating outside of Yuzu is at an all time low, precisely because the sport is so corrupt (look at the disgusting stuff coming out about so much of the French Fed) and nonsense scoring. Like who won Euros? idk, who cares, it's meaningless because the scores are meaningless. The options are either anger or aggressive apathy. I've done a lot of anger, now I'm at apathy.

I feel more in camp “website mistake” but I wouldn't mind seeing Chopin and Seimei live. That would be awesome, actually

haha maybe

if he wanted to be maximally aerodynamic he should probably minimize clothing too. unfortunately taking this too far results in a costume deduction

the tradition is to keep the identity of the final torchbearer a secret, apparently...
-
Is there something he would be involved with besides the torch relay? The internet says the torch is passing through Kansai and Chuubu during the FaOI Shanghai dates (end of May), and I don't see any reason he would be involved in that. Surely he'd be either part of the Sendai leg (June 22) or the cauldron lighting on July 24.
-
Btw the venue for FaOI Shanghai can supposedly seat up to 18,000 people...so maybe it won't be so hard to get tickets after all. Although I guess we shouldn't assume Yuzu will go--but on the other hand, I can't imagine it makes much sense for FaOI to go to Shanghai without him. Don't think there's enough of a dedicated figure skating fandom there in the absence of Yuzu.

!!! makes me kind of wish I still lived there haha. But it’s close...maybe I can snag tickets. I mean, it can’t be harder than getting tickets to performances in Japan, can it? Right? Merry Christmas everyone!

I have matrix elites! I love them, they're great. My edges immediately felt more secure and the enlarged toepick makes it easy to get height with less effort. Tbh I didn't feel like the transition was difficult at all. Didn't even trip on the toepicks after the first 5 minutes. I have found the toepicks to be a problem on spins, but tbh I'm just bad at spins in general so I'm not sure having smaller toepicks would help that much

The gold sold out really quickly. I didn't realize tickets were out yesterday until a few hours after ticket release, and there were basically no gold left (only a couple that would randomly show up because fans had booked and then canceled, which weren't very good). I just went for first row silver on the short side where he may or may not attempt 4A instead
-
omg please. I'm on leave during that time, I have tickets, and I won't have to fly halfway around the world.

P/C's costume is amazing, HIGH ART how could anyone dislike it but Yuzu's costume made me actually lose my mind a bit, so he wins also, isn't it a bit weird that the nominees are sorted alphabetically by first name, instead of last? conspiracy time: the ISU did it so Yuzu would be last!!!
-
iirc fans only get to vote for who will be nominated. the final result is still determined by the ISU from among the nominees...

idk man fanyus are international but last time I checked Doug Williams is still breathing. guess our sooper sekret judge assassination squad didn't get the memo but yeah true they'll probably score him like normal (but no US nats level of inflation). I mean I wanna believe the JSF grudge against Yuzu is mostly a fan conspiracy theory
-
I do think that the other men could go over Dai and Shoma if they pull it together and Shoma and Dai do not because at the end of the day there's only so much JSF can do to push their favorites. Just not sure what the odds of that happening are--I guess my point is that everyone else has to fight hard for it, whereas Shoma and Dai will have an easier time even if they're pretty messy. I did forget about Yuma, JSF might be trying to push him as well. I do wonder how Yuzu will be scored at Nats. probably no better than he's scored internationally

I'm pretty sure this happy birthday thing has been subject to more scrutiny than preparations for hosting state dinners with foreign heads of government. The stakes really just aren't that high, guys. That's what I heard last. Not really sure how much it will turn into reality, however. JSF seems to love him, so I kind of think if he shows there's a big chance they'll do everything in their power to lift him onto podium, cuz that's kind of what happened last year (granted, Keiji and Kazuki not doing that well did help Dai out a lot). Probably Shoma as well, unless the recent mess surrounding him has resulted in JSF turning against him. So I think 1. Yuzu 2. Shoma 3. Dai is still a pretty likely podium unless some of the other men really pull it together, which didn't happen last year.

I literally don't think that's possible. The most you can say about that sentence is that it's grammatically correct.

the ability of some people to spout nonsense with a straight face is amazing

That's true, I found Toronto to be pretty good in the short times I visited, although I did have an uber driver once try to get me to commiserate with him on the influx of Indian immigrants? Super awkward, my parents are immigrants, I'm an immigrant, I'm not going to join you in complaining about immigrants just because I speak English with a North American accent and they're not from my ethnic group, dude. (Let me stop before this veers to much into politics.) But overall, my experiences with Toronto have been good. Vancouver, on the other hand, I found to be full of people who were inexplicably rude, including doing things like assuming Japanese tourists were Chinese and expecting them to speak English even though they were just tourists...it's baffling, they're in the same country! Maybe I was just unlucky. Anyway, hopefully Yuzu and his mom haven't had to deal much with that stuff.
