This - and the earlier one she did of Yuzu and Amabie - are heartmeltingly sweet, and also make me imagine... someone ought to write fiction about a boy and the adorable little mermaid sprite who befriends him. I can't help thinking about it... but I'm not Japanese. There is after all something a little unearthly about Yuzuru....

I would love to see new programs (if the 4A is in them I will be hiding behind the sofa and peeking through my fingers... and that's after I know the results. How the hell did this young Japanese man's health and happiness become so important to me??????) and costumes... But at this stage, we know nothing. The fact that more words worldwide are being spilled on a skater of whom we know nothing than the rest of 'em put together is... interesting.

You'd think they'd put ou a separate one for speed and figure skating - who's going to pay (though it's not expensive) for just the few pics of their chosen sport (umm, oh yes, that's why they put you know who on the cover).

What an amazing, beautiful, love-filled collection! Looking at that, and at the absolute flood of messages on twitter (and knowing that there will be more on other social media) is wonderful. I hope he knows, even if he can't see everything, how very special he is to so many many people, to the sport he loves and the country and region he is so proud of.

This made me go all mushy... looking at those tiny faces and hearing what I'm sure was "we love you" I can't help thinking there are probably little skating hopefuls all over the world looking at him with big shining eyes - just like he did Plush and Johnny - and dreaming those dreams... I hope Yuzu sees this one, given his huge soft spot for kiddies he would love it!

Best of birthdays to Yuzuru! I missed the birthday due to real life emergency/trouble for a friend, and am now catching up here and on twitter with the outpouring of love and celebration, which is helping me enormously. If Yuzu's day brings him even a fraction of the happiness and beauty he has given, it will be amazing, he deserves the best as he gives it. And another fan art from twitter...

Oh I agree, and I suspect he's probably getting pressure in both directions as the public face of fs, and one of the public faces of sport as a whole, in Japan. To go for the benefit of his beloved sport, or to withdraw as an example to the public. Whatever he decides, all we can do is send karmic good thoughts....

That does not make me optimistic. For Euros or Worlds.

Which is why he might - might - go for it, if the precautions are in place. He must be even more missing it than we are, and if - again if - he wants to try you know what this year....

While I am no fan of his, to be fair I doubt there is a choreographer on the face of the planet who does NOT in their dreamiest dreams have Yuna and Yuzu front and centre (and I am damn certain the Russian you semi-mention is among them ), however unlikely and impossible it would be. Brilliance and artistry and iconic status means they would come to mind first for... pretty much anyone if they are being honest. Wouldn't you, even if a small-time and unknown, dream those dreams? We know Jeff did his SP.... if (and I'm just saying if) he doesn't WD yet, when do you think we'll get a hint as to the music?

I agree that we all want him to be safe, above everything, but he's shown that he has grown a sense of self-preservation (terrifyingly lacking when he was younger) and will I think WD if he thinks it's unsafe. But oh, the ticket sales will now turn feral...

Torn here between a HUGE desire to see him on the ice - we have missed him so unbelievably much - and worry after the way he was pretty much monstered by press and public last year... but he will do what he believes best, and we will support him. {New programs, mmmmmmm.....}
