  1. A mess, I’m telling you
  2. I absolutely will NOT root for James/Radford
  3. https://figureskate-soi.com/skaters.html SOI has some new skaters: Yuhana, Mako, Rin and Miyake are in.
  4. I think it's the angle, because I recall the roundness of his Bielmann was the same when he performed it at the WC. Anyway, isn't it amazing that he still manages to keep it after all these years?
  5. It does make sense that way, yes (theoretically LOL)
  6. Mai aims for the final flight at the Olys! Go! little warrior
  7. This is a very interesting topic (but a bit off-topic for the General Yuzu Chat's thread) so thanks for bringing it over here OK, so on the assumption that it's gonna get better with the wacko judging bias and corruption (a human can dream, yeah?) - I still think SS should be put in TES while TR can stay in PCS. And 100% to quantifying difficulty in turns, steps and the quality of these elements. - I think CO should be abolished first and foremost LOL. Why scoring a skater on something that is most of the time the work of the choreographer? - As for IN, just merge it into PE. Why are they separate categories, again? Also, while we are at it, freaking abolish the ChSq please!!! - Ice coverage and speed should be tied with both TR and SS. - Now, onto the topic of Eteri's skaters (and Raf's and most of Mishin's too), it's not like all of them have basics strong enough so...
  8. I don't think PCS should be abolished, but it should be rearranged and redefined. SS, for instance, is as technical as the jumps, so it should be considered as a part of the TES. And within TES, too much importance is placed on the jumps, not enough attention is geared towards the StSq, and ChSq is STILL there. I honestly don't understand the point of regarding the choreo sequence as a TES element, it should be merged into PCS's PE. Anyway, the way the PCS is right now, and has been for a very long time, is NOT it.
  9. The evolution of THAT part in LMEY. Yuzu really killed it with the WTT encore
  10. It can help a bit with PCS IMO, SS is most likely quantifiable. But I agree with @yuzuangel, unless the ISU itself is changed, technologies, no matter how advanced and people, no matter how dedicated, won’t change anything Edit: actually, the rest of PCS can be quantified too, albeit some less than others (so will still need the human factor, but bias can be reduced).
  11. Should I post it here? Does everyone still go back to the WTT gala thread? Anyway, here is WTT Hana wa saku - commentary-free version All credits go to @da5ani on Twitter. If you are here amongst us, thank you so much!!! PS: Please move this post and archive the video if necessary
  12. Flying is his job
  13. Now that we are getting more details about Yuzu's thesis and sexy galaxy brain, I don't know if anyone has posted it here yet (and I couldn't find the link anymore), but it seems Yuzu finished the required credits within two years so actually most of his uni life was spent on researching
  14. You are welcome For your question, this might be of help. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  15. Most likely a significant part will brush it off, like they usually do...
  16. Yep! I thought so LOL. The "anger" part is made up, but indeed, he said it is possible to quantify jump-related factors like PR and UR and to see objectively whether athletes follow the rules.
  17. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  18. It seems his thesis is published in a journal We should be able to read it sooner or later I'm so, so proud of Yuzu
  19. Only the summary is in English, I'm afraid.
  20. I'm typing it out here, yeah? A feasibility study on utilization in figure skating by a wireless inertia sensor motion capture system By Yuzuru Hanyu Summary: The wireless inertia sensor-type motion capture does not interfere with the operation of the device wearer. As a result of the experiment, it became clear that when jumping figure skating on the skating rink, the position of each joint can be accurately obtained. In addition, by analyzing the skeleton, it is possible to identify the center of gravity and the contact points (where the pressure increases on the ground and the (?) where it is installed, and the jump strictly follows the rules. It was possible to quantitatively clarify whether the jump was strictly according to the rules. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  21. It is a tabloid magazine, yes, so we should only take parts that are direct quotations. The "anger" part is most likely interpretation though, for click and attention. Still, I think the message is clear.
  22. I was gonna post this, and would love to have some confirmation from the satellites who are fluent in Japanese. Anyway, yes, I also have a feeling he really went off with his thesis, and rightfully so (remind me of Javi LOL). Raf, Eteri, Hamada and other like-minded coaches, he is talking to you PS: I edited a bit since I found the summary for his thesis
  23. His eyes are always so expressive
