  1. I'm not counting on it lol He's 23 now but he still looks like a middle-school teen I think we're all going to get old and Yuzu is just going to look the same
  2. Here's a rough translation: Ken Watanabe who is currently 58 years old says that managing one's physical condition is the key. KW: "It's just like how the figure skater Hanyu Yuzuru said that if he doesn't eat rice, things don't go well (i.e. it's not good to not eat rice for meals)" Interviewer: 'Because of the power of rice?' KW: 'Yes, since I'm originally from the Niigata prefecture' [note: Niigata is famous for its rice] Basically it's about rice lol. I think the point is that Ken Watanabe is one of the few Japanese celebrities who's had considerable success in Hollywood, but despite that he still depends on the Japanese staple that is rice. I did translate it awkwardly so feel free to fix it up
  3. The irony of a baby-faced 23-year old advertising razors for men with legit facial hair
  4. So it's legit?! I tried looking it up the other day and the only evidence I found was that Nathan liked a Yale class of 2022 insta post. Which isn't super conclusive, but if he actually put it in his description, that's a different story. I don't think Nathan would put skating on hold to study, especially since he has at least another shot at future Olympics. It's never too late to go to college and study med, but his skating career has a time limit. I'm sure he has something planned out
  5. Lol true, but to be fair they're also a lot older and more mature. I was thinking more of young Gryffindor kids. Also true, but imo Yuzu is too thirsty for victory, attention and perfection to be a Ravenclaw. I think I'm too under qualified to debate about HP, so that's as far as I'll go But it was still really fun discussing it with you all!
  6. Are you talking about the recent doc that went through Yuzu's journey from his injury to the Olympics? Sure, he made the final decision on his layout right before, but it was still carefully calculated. I was in awe when he spoke about how he tweaked his FS program based on what quad jumps everyone else was doing. He does care and is very aware of what scores he needs to win and beat his competitors. I dunno, I feel like the Gryffindor spirit would be more like 'do your best and have fun', whereas Yuzu is very fixated on scores. He's not there to have fun out of a love for skating: he's there to win. Its a big contrast to other skaters who skate with the attitude of 'It doesn't matter what score I get because I put everything I had on the ice'.
  7. That's a very valid point. Yuzu's definitely the kind of person to rely on hard work as opposed to 'shortcuts', so I can definitely see where you're coming from. Good point! I guess in terms of general traits, another thing I think makes me think Slytherin>Gryffindor is that I feel like Yuzu is the type to think before he acts rather than the other way around. He doesn't strike me as being impulsive but moreso the type to take a step back and calculate. The more I think about this, the more I feel like he really doesn't fit into one house I retook the quiz here because it asks you all of the Pottermore questions and I got Ravenclaw this time! I think what threw me off on the first one was that I picked the sea over forest lol
  8. Out of curiosity, I took the sorting hat test on Pottermore and got Slytherin lol I don't think I answered any of the questions in a self-centered way though- in fact, there was only one question about a team situation where there's three of you and one of you has to fight the troll the pass. So I picked the logical answer i.e. 'try and confuse the troll into letting all of you pass' I am by no means a HP fan- I've read the books and watched the movies since I grew up with it though. And I personally don't think the houses are black and white at all. I do think Yuzu has brave qualities, like his perseverance during practices and comps in the face of adversity. But because figure skating is such an individualistic sport, I feel like a lot of those behaviours are driven by the ambition to win and succeed, which imo feels very Slytherin to me. It doesn't matter who his opponent is- he wants to crush the competition. And that doesn't really give me the Gryffindor vibe for some reason
  9. I got Hello I Love You twice so clearly I've got a wild side I had no clue existed
  10. Yup, I did notice that! I really liked that CM- he talks about his mother in it too which is special because he rarely talks about his family. It'll be really interesting to see how many questions they'll get for CwW! They're only accepting questions over the next week. Considering anyone can tweet a question and there's no limit on how many questions you can ask, I won't be surprised if they get 10k+ tweets. But I did notice a lot of questions had similar themes (so many questions about the cake tissue box omg) so they might pick a few representatives hopefully including the troll ones. Give the fanyus what they want
  11. Okay, I sent my question in Japanese! Fingers crossed, but regardless of which questions get picked, I'm just excited there's even going to be a fan question segment Is 4000 yen the norm for movie theatre tickets in Japan? Seems kind of pricey to me. If the funds are going to Sendai, I have no complaints though. YAY FOR STREAMING PARTY
  12. There's something about off-ice jumps that really blows me away. I think its because I'm used to seeing all the cool stuff on ice, so when they bring things like jumps off the ice and onto the ground that normal people use, it makes me realise just how amazing their bodies are. In that video, Yuzu was literally standing still and then out of nowhere he was at least a foot off the ground doing all those rotations
  13. That must make me a terrible person because I treat cockroaches with no mercy... Sorry Yuzu, I can't share your love for bees and consideration towards cockroaches because they freak the living daylights out of me
  14. My heart The thought of him crying over whether to continue skating or not breaks my heart
  15. What do you mean by 'request' program? As in viewers request what they want replayed?
  16. Yup, that's what I ended up doing too haha. Thanks for the advice though! I decided to stop watching because they were playing Shouma stuff and as much as I love Shouma, I really need to study
  17. I'm on Fuji TV now but I can't scroll down to channel 60 for some reason
  18. Yup, that's the one! I hope he saw you guys! International fanyus represent I had the same reaction when I saw him smile on the stream (+ some more squealing). It kind of cut the tension which was nice, especially since everyone was on edge for the last group. Made me feel reassured
  19. Honestly, story of my life. So I gave up on singing and started beatboxing Why do you think it's unlikely? Is it because it's so close to Worlds? Just curious
  20. Do you mean Johnny or Yuzu? I have no clue about either's vocal ability, but I remember Yuzu said somewhere that he only lip syncs at comps so as not to bother other skaters, so I like to think he has jam-out sessions when he's alone Complete with a healthy dose of headbanging of course. Yuzu would make an excellent motivational speaker. His entire life story is movie-worthy to be honest.
  21. What's really interesting about this is that Johnny Weir also pursued a career in music as his competitive career came to a close. Super curious to see what other interesting activities Yuzu will pursue in the future
