His goal is never to win skate canada tho
-
I'm curious if he can see anything when smiling like this
-
It really gave me a start. I'm scared one day Yuzuru says spider is cute and my Twitter tl will be full of spider pictures So Yuzu, if you can hear me, bees, butterflies, orange beetles.... are okay, just don't mention spiders.

Look at how he holds the razor I have to admit I even have more facial hair than him and have to wax my upper lip every month
-
If he exchanges all SC and 4CC golds for an Olympic Gold, I won't complain lol
-
So I will never get noticed by him

Personally, I don't think Brian's coaching is suitable for Marin. While Raf has very very high standards, Brian isn't that harsh, he respects his students' own style and lets them practice on their own and make decisions for themselve. That is why I feel who can train with Brain effectively must be someone with fierce and self-control , they have to set high standards for themselves and make every effort to reach these standards. Unfortunately, I don't see these personalities in Marin. At this point, I think Brian's coaching suits Wakaba and Kaori.

I was referring general figure skating community and media, not JSF alone. I can see there's so much hype around "prodigies" such as Alexandra Trusova, Stephan Gogolev ( many have declared them 2022 Olympic Champions), Nathan Chen (there used to be Mao, Plushenko... ). They are incredibly talented and have caught attention since they were little. I also saw how Japanese media treated Marin Honda as new Japan's figure skating ace after her winning World Junior. Yuzuru after winning World Junior and Worlds bronze was far from being hyped up like that but see what he has achieved now? That's why I said his talent and his popularity had been built up little by little. Personally, I think it's very good for him. About JSF, I do think they have strategies for skaters once they see potentials in these skaters but I don't know much about them so I have no comment.

Also, he has never been overscored. His victory is what he's gifted for his hard- working and pure talent, not what judges favored him. Good for him. He doesn't need it. He's always doubted no matter if he wins or loses. Even if he wins, there are always people expecting him to flop and be taken over next competitions. When he loses, they even have more reasons to believe it.
-
Yeah, everything about him ( talent, popularity...) has been slowly built up from year to year. He had never been labelled "prodigy" in early years like Yagudin, Plushenko, Mao... When he was a novice skater, nobody knew him. When he became Worlds Junior Champion in 2010, nobody expected him to grab gold 4 years later in Sochi. Even after winning Worlds bronde medal at the age of 17, he wasn't hyped up as much as Mao Asada or Marin Honda was. But what he has accomplished is even more than what a so-called prodigy could ever achieve.

Lol you should see all of his gala pictures ealier seasons. He put his hands on everyone's waist when taking photos

To be honest, current scoring system really makes me terrified. How they score showed that they're willing to give someone consitent with many quads 100PCS if they want

I rewatched some old interviews of Yuzuru. They asked him about a big Angry Bird he got on the ice ( maybe after free skate) and he said it's like a good luck because Angry Bird can jump . It seemed to be a silly answer at first but after thinking for a while, I suddenly find it so logical ( and cute ) Just like he sees "Ci" as a winking smiley face, Yuzuru is always full of ideas and incredibly creative.

This. They even don't care and don't remember. Skaters themselves don't really care either.

I disagree. I used to think Boyang doesn't have much charisma until I watched his recent performances ( 4CC, Olympics,...). Also, I was quite surprised hearing him express his thoughts about his Olympics performances and his future plan. He spoke in a very mature way. He may not be as ambitious as Yuzuru but he's definitely aware of everything in a clever way like Yuzuru. Personally, Boyang is much more special and charismatic than Shoma in both competition and real life. You should watch his interviews to understand him more and I bet you will change your mind about him.

Besides his injury, which I'm worried about the most, I also worry that he has lost his motivation. One thing we can be sure about him, what motivates him to keep competing the past four years against all odds and despite all the obstacles is not only his love for skating but also his desire to remove the bad image in Sochi when he won with 2 falls ( as many said it wasn't an Olympic Champion's performance). While we all know he won deservedly, he always feels he has to accomplish more to prove himself. And then he took 4 years to prove that he deserves the gold in Sochi. Yuna almost lost her motivation after Vancouver 2010 and of course she had reason to do so. She won with 2 stunning programs and three world records in a row. She had had Olympics title, World title, world records under her belt. Sometimes, I wonder if Yuzuru had won gold in Sochi with two clean performances, would he had retired ? But I found the answer: Absolutely NO. One Olympics title is never enough for his ambition. At that time, he was young and so ambitious and he hadn't won World tittle yet. There was no way he would retire even if he had won with 2 clean performances. This time is different he won his second gold medal with 2 performances he was satisfied with and reached his biggest dream. He doesn't have to prove anything from now on. He admited there was a time he thought about retiring, when he felt he had done enough, when he found it so hard to deal with horrible injuries. But he continued and won his second Olympic title. It's no doubt an amazing journey. He has done much more than anyone can expect. Will he continue ? What he is thinking ? What he is planning? We don't know, we will never know and he himself probably doesn't know either. As I said last summer, it's only after PC we can know about his intention and I won't count anything out including the possibility of his competing in Beijing. Unfortunately his injury made it even much more difficult to assume or expect anything right now. We just have to wait. This summer may be a very long summer for all of us considering a lot of uncertainty still remains. But who knows what is waiting for us next season ?

I read some parts from Zhenya interview and they asked her some ridiculous questions about Yuzu like how she met him. I can't get it. They compete in the same sport, of course they know each other and have some interactions. Media think there is something between them two or so ?
-
Media being media. They always ask such absurd questions which I find so annoying. I don't think Yuzuru want to answer questions like why quads are difficult. It's ridiculous that while he keeps mentioning about his injuries and his desire to heal properly, they keep asking him about 4A and quint jumps. About his future, if I don't remember wrong, in a documentary ( about his injury ?) after season 2015-2016, he said something like if he finds it too hard and he can't hold on anymore, he just gives up. So I believe he knows when he needs to stop. And whatever he does, we should respect his decision.
-
I really hope he will rest and heal. Remembering how bad his injury was after season 15-16 when he had felt pain since the beginning of the season but stubbornly took painkillers to skate, I'm still scared. He didn't missed any competitions, even gala that season but in exchange he had to receive two-month off-ice treatment. As I said earlier, his decision to withdraw from NHK made me believe that it isn't minor injury, even could be much more serious than the one he sustained in the past. So I don't want it to happen again.
-
His landings are sometimes a bit shaky in practice even when he is totally healthy so I was okay with it. It was his smile that led me to believe he wasn't truly happy. Actually I was thinking there was something wrong with him/ his injury but I really didn't expect him to take strong painkillers to skate ( even just to smile ) .That was far beyone what I could imagine considering media reported he looked sharp and his coach insisted he would be 100% at Olys. I was really shocked when I knew he was smiling through the painkillers.
-
I have to admit that I didn't see him being okay at all even when he was seemingly cheerful and happy on practice days I noticed the way he smiled on these days and the way he smiles everytime he loses ( 4cc 2017, cor 2017, aci 2017...) are exactly the same. He was smiling to not worry us. I can always tell when he's truly happy and when he just pretends to be happy. And everytime he smiles like that, I'm even more worried. Just because it was said that his ankle had been fine, I forced myself to believe it. Even when he won and I was happy like hell but feelings of anxiety that I couldn't explain didn't go away. And when the truth was revealed
-
I tried to calm myself down like 838390 times since yesterday but I just can't anymore. FUuuKKKK. What I heard months ago that his injuries had been much better and that he would be 100% at Olympics is all lies ?????? I feel betrayed and I hate this feeling so much.
-
He is constantly criticized by haters for everything he has done. I really do not need drama to protect him from criticism because he has his own way of getting them to shut up. Personally, I find these ridiculous criticisms have nothing to do with him, no one can change the fact that he will go to the Olympics and compete there if he is healthy. What JSF is doing is annoying and just makes current situation more depressing.
-
I'm so annoyed and tired of the way media and JSF announce these updates. They just need to release all things including his withdrawal and his situation at once. Everyone in the world knows for sure there is no way he appears at Nats. Even if competing is his will, his desire or anything under such current circumstances, it will never happen and it isn't allowed to happen. I understand they did it for some reasons. But I feel like I'm being played like a fool.
