If he had been determined to skate at Worlds, there were still chances for him to get TES minimum by Worlds. But he did decline. -

Her 2A is which I find improved the most but it is still bad in competitions. -

Well, many just want to justify her move to Orser. To me, there is no visible improvement as many claimed so far. -
Yeah, sadly.
-
So she isn't injured ?
-
I'm more convinced of him doing 3lutz or 3flip than 4lo. I don't doubt his ability but I think we won't see new combo/ jump at Worlds. " New" combo 4S3T did give him trouble all along 2016 2017 season. Even 4T3Aseq,which he has done many times in practice, gala... didn't have great success rate in competitions until now ( 1/3). Personally I would like him to ditch risky 4T3A which are more to show off than to maximize scoring potential because I think it isn't a smart combo strategically.
-
But I know that more than anyone it is Yuzuru who doesn't want to mess up his 3A ( and other jumps ofc). First he is such a perfectionist. Second, I don't believe he is willing to sacrifice any jumps for 4A. He wants all.
-
Yeah, it is only my theory. I love his 3A and I hope it will remain the best jump of him.
-
Not only 3A, other jumps are usually shaky at early comps, when the season goes, it usually goes back to normal. His 3A isn't perfect all the time but after all it was the most reliable jump of him. As I said, the mistakes he made on 3A this season particularly is mostly due to uncontrolled height and distance, which I take as the obvious effect of training quad. Losing sense and rhythm of jump caused being unable to estimate precisely the distance and height the jump requires, could result in off axis, URed/ overotated jump.I think he needs to be more focused to jump 3A these days.
-
It isn't only in SP, his 3As in LP at both ACI and Helsinki GP were landed shakily/ borderline URed. The best 3A he has done this season is the one in SP at COR ( still lean forward a bit though). While I agree new entry somehow contributes to this instability, I believe the main reason is still losing some sense and rhythm of a triple caused by training quad.
-
I have to dissagree, it did affect his 3A. The mistakes he made on 3A is mostly because he can't control the height and distance of jump ( either much higher than necessary ( mostly in SP) or smaller( mostly in FS)) which resulted in not good air position, off axis on landing, UR... I know some gushed over how high his 3A was this season but it's not good. There is a reason why big jumpers have to learn to control the height they get on jumps. It seems the sense, the rhythm of jumping 3A got affected. I guess he only trained 4A seriously until last off-season so it affected his 3A more than last seasons.
-
I'm not against him doing 4A. I just really really hope his gorgeous 3A doesn't get affected. His 3A did give me trauma this season. It's not easy to see his 3A went from the most reliable jump to the jump which gave me anxiety everytime he jumps it and got less points than Kolyada, Shoma, even Nathan's. He used to be the one who has the best 3A with great success rate on it. This season he hasn't yet jumped any perfect 3A, either (a bit) shaky landing ( lean forward) or pop and fall.
-
It is because you haven't yet seen the next one.
-
I also hope he will move on. It's also problematic to me for whatever reasons... He hasn't performed it perfectly yet so its full potential is unknown. Still I'm not sure judges appriciate it as much as they did with Otonal. And I'm all for something new and even more interesting I want him to work with Benoit Richaud whose choreos convinced me more than anyone (OK, I know it won't happen)
-
I have no idea who he is but I'm sure he isn't Shingo.
-
It also depends on how serious injury is. Yuzuru isn't the only skater who skated while being injuried, Shoma did, Wakaba did, Misuki Sumoto did, Boyang did. But there are injuries like the one he had last year which made you unable to walk normally, much less to jump. It is when you can't do anything but withdraw.
-
Yes. He also said the same thing about Nationals and Worlds last season. And we all know he withdrew from both. Actually, he can't decide if he can compete or not. His participation in competition depends on his injury.
-
I would use "sinewy" to describe his arms. His legs are muscular, especially when he skates, they appear much larger.
-
I'm not sure this has been posted yet so I will post it here. News about Alina Zagitova on Channel 1 Russia and you can hear Yuzuru's words about her. " She's not a child anymore. She's becoming an adult now and maybe not used to that yet. I can understand her ( feelings) well and wish you good luck". That was the channel's translation. And what he said that I tried to hear from the video is something like:" She always feels pressure, but it's ok... ".

Jun's expressions have been improved so much for 2 years. When I watched his junior debut at JGP Yokohama 2016, he kept an emotionless face throughout his performances back then. I'm also amazed at his consistency this season. He definitely has great potentials: solid skating skills, amazing flexibility, excellent spins, smooth jumps, no bad postures ( imo his postures and upper body movement are better than Yuzuru's) but he needs to improve the quality of his jumps because they are usually URed.
-
4lo is rotated but they would have called two 3As UR along with 4T( it would have been 4 UR calls in total if they had been that strict)
-
He looked like My neighbor Totoro black soot balls

I strongly agree. I do believe his initial idea was to skate to his favorite program of Plushenko and go back to the times when he innocently enjoyed skating. But in the process, they had Nijinsky-inspired moves, Plushenko-inspired moves, Shae Lynn's interpretaion of music and "origin" theme. Then when he skated to it, he added his own interpretation throught his skating ( arm movements) and expressions. The program got stuck in too many things and it got harder to grasp the meaning/ concept. Actually, when I read Lynn's perception about "Origin", I was surprised. I remembered when his music choices were released, there were some people criticizing him for using European musics and in my own imagination, both Otonal and Origin would be something nostalgic which would bring back old yet beautiful times of figure skating or his life as a skater. But the theme turned out Japanese/ Asian things ( I didn't mean it in a negative way because I'm fond of Asian culture). So as you said, there will always be somewhat a disconnect in the program itself, as much as we try to connect all of materials. About his expressions, I do hope he can control and project it better next time because I find it too much for the program no matter the program was about.
