  1. Proposal: have skaters submit a list of things they will do including transitions in and out of each jump, and have each element scored beforehand. That makes it easy and fast to judge the element; you just have to see if skaters do what they say and adjust for any changes. Much easier than to count transitions/steps without knowing what the skater is trying to do. Each element that does not get done correctly gets a deduction, like in gymnastics. For example, an ina bauer into a jump gets +points for transition, but if you drop the ina bauer you get a deduction from the base value. Lack of rotation gets a deduction. Jump height should be scored without regard to body type or height. In other sports, scores do not get adjusted for the athlete's height or length of their legs. This way scoring is more transparent, as skaters can't get points for elements they don't claim to be doing, and it will be easy to see if skaters actually did what they are getting points for.
  2. I feel like saying "Shoma is going from one of the [outwardly] nicest coaches to one of the [outwardly] coldest ones" is purely an observation, and one that makes sense and may give someone pause, because it's not hard to imagine such a change would be hard to adjust to. So i don't know why it's such a weird statement that needs to be picked apart.
  3. > the level of difficulty of the elements would not be taken into account > the base value of the elements and the quality of those [GOE] so which one is it
  4. Yeah, bye. I DOUBT Yuzu would be skating past 2022 (sadface) so I don't really care at that point, do I? But honestly, I'm tired of the narrative that some skaters are "so artistic" without the tech and some skaters are "so good at technical stuff" without the artistry because these skaters might not have skating skills in common but what do they have in common? They all happen to represent the same fed! (or from 2-3 different feds). I wonder why. And meanwhile there are skaters that are better at the technical stuff and better at the artistry or...shocker...both...and they seem to get buried for it. Again, I wonder why.
  5. what about boyang????
  6. speedy recoveries
  7. what happened?
  8. Because unconscious bias maybe? You could be biased without being outright racist/bigoted. And skaters have skated to all types of music before, but how many of them are top skaters, and not from the strongest feds? Kinda just have to see how H&L was underscored all season to be a bit apprehensive about choosing non-warhorse, non-Western music, especially when 2-3 points in PCS could mean winning and losing.
  9. Aww sorry about that though. Hope you can find a way to watch them!
  10. If you try to play this, does it work? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ShPcJF3OOsxrjBKuQKL4Dvps6i9lQk6f/view
  11. Hmm, I think Yuzu is very internally motivated for the most part -- but he obviously does have many influences so I think it's fine to speculate a bit,, but we won't know the truth unless he comes right out and says "so and so inspired me to do XYZ" (which he seems to be very open about and has talked about many times) so I think we should probably keep the extra speculation on top of that to a minimum IMO. Motivation to win though is one thing I DON'T see Yuzu needing to be "influenced" by anyone though, more likely than not Evgenia is influenced by him rather than the other way around
  12. Thanks, yeah I tried that one. Seems it doesn't offer commentary for anything...if you want that, you have to pay for cable, LOL
