  1. Yuzu's profile on the Beijing 2022 site https://olympics.com/beijing-2022/olympic-games/en/results/figure-skating/athlete-profile-n1038834-yuzuru-hanyu.htm His profile is quite long and detailed compared to some of the others. ETA: Sorry, it was already shared. ETA2: I just noticed that many of his competition results were not added. I hope they fix this soon, since some other athletes like Mana have basically no information at this moment.
  2. Yuzu randomly trending on my Twitter
  3. Man, I'm facepalming so hard at the English words, cause the Japanese words in red below it are so much more powerful, and leave an impact. 羽生結弦、史上最強の王者。 Hanyu Yuzuru, the strongest king/champion in history. ...psst, he's a skater.
  4. Happy New Year to everyone on this planet! Wishing everyone an awesome 2022 and may Yuzu achieve his dreams!
  5. whaaaaaaaaat. Serious GOAT stuff there. No wonder he was asking people to pay attention to the crossovers in programs. Merry Christmas everyone!
  6. I'm very sad about Rika's situation. Pushing through injuries for months / years, and then to not recover in time for the culmination of this Olympic cycle. The thing is, to be given consideration for the Olympics, basically you have to be top 3 among Japanese in the world standings / season's world rankings / season's best / medalled at Worlds before. Rika is definitely not in Yuzu's situation here. She's still top 3 in the world standings, but there are other strong Japanese women on the team. I'm not sure JSF is willing to push her to be on the team when she hasn't competed this season and her last Worlds showing wasn't great. this is disastrous.
  7. So, Yuzu's participation is confirmed! I'm beginning to get nervous and excited, but this time, all I wish for is Yuzu's health and happiness. I'm just so happy to see him skate again. Let's all enjoy watching Yuzu. Since JNats opens on my birthday this year, I shall consider this my birthday present from Yuzu. (I'm the same age as Yuzu. Always proud that I too am from the famed golden generation of 1994 though I'm afraid I didn't contribute to it )
  8. Happy Birthday, Yuzu! Thank you for being the legend that you are and bringing joy to us all. This year, I wish for nothing but your health and happiness, and for all your dreams to come true, no matter what they may be. 🎁🍄
  9. Really love Yuzu's collaborations with Citizen. They're so beautiful, elegant and always look like a lot of thought was put into creating them. I always love the play on numbers and Chinese characters using kanji from Yuzu' name, and also their poetic posts.
  10. so sad to hear this. Why would anyone spend so much time to do something malicious like this?
  11. I agree with this When I first started being able to differentiate jumps, I couldn't distinguish between Yuzu's 4T and 4S and often had to rewind several times to check I could identify other skaters' jumps though! His toepicking technique is extremely light, fast and smooth as butter. So wonderful and pleasing to watch.
  12. I like to think that the Japanese men all know that 1 spot is Yuzu's by default and they're all fighting for the 2nd or 3rd spot. Of course, things are a bit different from 2017 this time, but in 2017, by JNats, nobody knew if Yuzu was healthy enough to go to the Olympics. Of course, Shoma was most likely to win JNats that year. I remember watching the men's FS and Mura having a good skate. He was very happy. Then, Keiji came, overtook him in the FS and placed 2nd. When that happened, it was as if they knew and accepted that Mura would not be going to the Olympics, despite placing 3rd, because 1 spot was Yuzu's by default. Of course, everyone is working hard and deserves a chance too, but seeing how much Yuzu is truly respected by the other Japanese men, I feel that they train with the thought that Yuzu will be the choice over them.
  13. Yuhana has also been given a second assignment at GP France.
  14. Yes, this is one of the things that I'm most impressed with about Yuzu. Of course, I'm not an athlete so I don't know how it works, but seeing that almost every skater has gone through slumps, difficult periods of adjustments, puberty, growth, etc, etc that affect their technical consistency, which must mean it's extremely difficult, I'm extremely impressed with what Yuzu has achieved, especially since his career has lasted much longer than many other skaters. He has never faltered to place below 4th since the the 2nd season of his senior career. First, the earthquake, which must have taken a major toll on him as it also affects his personal life. But he only came back stronger and medalled at his first Worlds the following season. Then, a major coaching change with lifestyle adjustments to a totally different environment. Many skaters spend a lot of time adjusting to coaching changes, but it was as if he was unaffected. Even after the cursed 2014 CoC, he managed to recover and train enough to qualify to the GPF just 3 weeks later, and then, after another 2 weeks, had recovered his quads to win the GPF. Such a miracle boy. I believe after his lisfranc injury in 2016 he also slightly changed his 4T technique, but that didn't seem to have affected his consistency on it, unlike what we see with some other skaters. Also just last season, after going through a difficult period (we all do), he came back strongly to win JNats with a clean performance. Of course, it's not like he managed all these things magically, he put in a tremendous amount of effort, far more than any of us could ever imagine, to have achieved all these. But it only makes me admire him more.
  15. In Yuzu's own words, his highs are really high and lows are really low. Seeing that in the past quad, we've been seeing so many lows, and with this injury almost mirroring that of 2017, which must be the lowest of lows now, what high is coming for him now? I sincerely hope that the next high for Yuzu will be for him to achieve his ultimate dream, no matter what it may be to him.
  16. I was out and not on the Planet for the past 5 hours. I just received a Google notification on the news of Yuzu's withdrawal. Why must this happen? How many times does this have to happen to him? It's really déjà vu.
  17. Congratulations, @SuzyQ, @daisyjune, @sweetwater! It will truly be a wonderful competition, no matter what Yuzu shows us! I'll be cheering from behind my screen I hope that we will witness the birth of a miracle. I've been to NHK twice - in 2017 and 2019, so I personally remember this time of the year fondly every year. I remember that the 2 year gap between NHK 2017 and NHK 2019 felt pretty long to me, but the 2 years from NHK 2019 to now passed in the blink of an eye! It seems like a recent memory to me. Probably no thanks to corona It's unfortunate that I won't be able to attend NHK this time. I met @sweetwaterさん at NHK both times, so I hope that we will be able to meet again if I ever attend a competition in Japan again in the future
  18. 勉強になりました。You really can learn something new on PH every day!
  19. Happy Halloween! This was really cute Trick or Treat with Ori-chan, Haru-chan, LetMe-kun, Tenchi-sama and Oto-chan Oto-chan: What's this? It's rare for LetMe-kun to be with Haru-chan. LetMe-kun: No, it was reluctantly for me. Oto-chan: ..................................... Could it be, that you can't remove it? Oto-chan (to Haru-chan): the one who suggested this was Haru-chan, wasn't it? Good grief, you never learn every year! Tenchi-sama: Now, I will save you, so don't move! Ori-chan: No, wait wait wait I love how each program child has their own personality. Tenchi-sama especially, he usually speaks archaically and behaves like a historical samurai but is also somewhat comical and usually has the company of birds (I forgot what birds were on the Tenchi costume) on his head.
  20. Oh, yes! Yesterday I was hoping that Mai would get a 2nd assignment with Rika's withdrawal but I wasn't sure how these assignments are given out, and my wish came true! Go Mai!!!
  21. We were hoping that doing too many ice shows won't aggravate her back injury, but now there's an ankle injury too? Sigh.
