  1. Oh god, I'm actually a bit scared of the thought of the airport Yuzu arrives...first live appearance after being in ninja-mode for almost 3mths, reigning Olympic/World champion.... Intense interest won't even begin to describe it, and that's just the media. In Korea too, with fans very familiar with congregating at airports. I hope maybe he'll be allowed to exit out of a back door or something (at least it won't ever be as bad as TVXQ at the height of their popularity...or even now)
  2. lmaooo as expected, yuzu literally looks like he put eyeliner and a wig on. surprisingly, nathan and sergei look pretty good. Adam also looks pretty much the same
  3. Interesting what sort of videos youtube will recommend lolol it appears that yuzu interacted with the people at 'Earphone', which appears to be a store and blog, in 2015. It shows you the music player he uses (a gold IRIVER Astelle&Kern AK240 which is custom engraved with 'Challenge, Evolve and Gratitude with All my HEART'), all the earphones he uses and as expected, his favourite colour is gold, especially gold leaf in clear plastic designs. now if he could get sponsored.... Blog post of yuzu visiting their store: http://e-earphone.blog/?p=3029
  4. Knowing what we know about him, that’s probably the exact reason he put it there even if it’s unnecessary lmao bless this boy and how Extra™ his vision is
  5. Im laughing at the comments. that was a nice 3A! Who is this kid?
  6. i'm glad they're giving him some attention for those (albeit likely bc there's nothing new to talk about LOL), their difficulty and rarity is so underrated
  7. boyang's the MVP for letting yuzu scrape through with this streak until he gets a chance to defend it himself. i'm grateful, even if it's not all that important in the grand scheme of things. but also....lmao 24pts...... (current ranking)
  8. 8. ‘After all, to have honest and genuine expectations [placed on me] is something that makes me happy.’ Date Unknown - The 2013 - 2014 Olympic season was a season with much more noise than usual: ‘Who will participate in the Olympics?’ ‘Who will win the medals?’ Of course, Hanyu also heard those voices but innocently said, ‘To be able to talked about as a representative to the Olympics is an extremely happy thing. I’ve also finally reached the World No 2 ranking’ (8/?) Translator’s note: what he means - I believe - is the idea that he is happy to be thought of as a legitimate contender (so people have honest and real/genuine hopes for him). Open to being corrected on this ofc, I'm not feeling too confident in my JP at the moment ; _ ;
  9. SNORTS no mention of whether he has a nose still though
  10. 7. ‘It’s not a problem if I win or lose. What’s important and what I hold in the greatest regard is whether I did or didn’t try to aim for the highest*.’ Jan 2013 - As long as he is a competitor, it is natural that one must acknowledge victories, but seems like Hanyu has grown to think that there may be other important things besides victory and loss as he has gathered titles. He’s probably not only looking to win but at greater ‘heights’ beyond winning. Once you become the champion, what comes after is only protecting (your titles). In order to avoid this happening, he set his goals further ahead (7/?) *literally it translates to ‘stand at the highest’ but I believe there’s an element of striving to do so and a focus on the process - he’s not talking about results - hence why I went with ‘aim’. (whoops, apologies for not updating this with the other posts and delay!)
  11. 5. ‘No matter how convincing a performance is to you, if the result is bad, people will not find it convincing. They will think ‘Hanyu is at this standard after all’. I think this definitely shouldn’t happen. As a skater, above anything else, what you need to do is leave results.’ Date Unknown - In sports, while you cannot say results are everything, an athlete cannot be truly acknowledged - in the true definition of the word - if they are not accompanied by results. 20yr old Hanyu’s conduct and speech received so much attention after he was able to accumulate so many titles. He himself knows best that he is who he is now as a result of achieving good results. Therefore, he has no intention of using ‘this was a performance I was personally convinced by’ as an excuse. In his autobiography ‘Aoi Honoo’ (Blue Flames), he said this (5/?) 6. ‘Recently I’ve been thinking that it might have been fate that I encountered figure skating.’ Oct 2013 - If Hanyu had not encountered figure skating, we wonder what would have happened? All these years of him achieving ‘historical firsts’ may still be dreams. “Initially, I was fine with not doing skating. If my sister had done ballet, I would now be doing ballet. If it had been swimming, I would probably be trying hard at swimming.” We are thankful for this fated encounter! (6/?)
  12. I'm still laughing at this so I have to share - I wonder what he was reacting to?? (it was the Sochi team event presumably but)
  13. UM HI. I'D LIKE TO REPORT @kaeryth FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER (can we talk about how leaving it out and not having a 100% clean version of LGC is one of the biggest tragedies in figure skating because seriously)
  14. Whoever's styling Alina needs to stop =__= (is this part of a wider spread? Looks like it's been cut off. Eteri's daughter - I assume - is channeling her vibe perfectly lol)
  15. lolol 'gag order' almost certainly used in the lay sense, though unnecessarily dramatic as usual. I do wonder what people comprise the 'yuzu side' team... I'm sure it's a bunch of people (though he...doesn't have a manager iirc? so I suppose his sponsor's reps???) but I'd laugh if it was just Mama Hanyu being badass on her own
  16. I snorted out loud. yuzu’s definitely winning the unintentional psychological warfare he’s wrought on his fans
  17. Machida was raised as a topic on my t-list so I went to see his SP at Worlds 2014 which I haven't ever watched in full. And while I think he was underscored in that (because his SP gave me frisson, it was honestly so incredibly gorgeous), it led me to go and watching Yuzu's Worlds 2014 FS. To know that he had fallen behind in his SP against a transcendent rival, he still managed to land the 4S that had eluded him all season and also force out the 3S in his combo when it was threatening to go wrong, I'm honestly awed all over again. RJ2 isn't among my favourite programs but just...the sheer fight he puts in was amazing. It makes me just a tiny bit more hopeful for Pyeongchang ; _ ;
  18. Appears there's some trouble with Pyeongchang tickets in Japan - a travel tour company in Tokyo (Green Tours) was selling A seat tickets to PC mens event. Tickets + hotel sales were totalling approximately 100,000,000yen (I assume in total sales) but the Korean agency in charge of confirming the tickets could only guarantee B or C tickets. The fan featured was a Yuzu fan who goes to university who paid 130,000yen (approx $1500AUD holy shit) for an A ticket with a credit card and was told she would 100% get A tickets, but then they gave her a choice to cancel or downgrade to a B/C ticket seat so she cancelled. However, she still hasn't received a refund and seems to be the case with a lot of other people who cancelled. The tour company apparently has to return over 45,000,000yen )): hopefully everyone who bought tickets here to PC have them already, I feel so sorry for her ;;
  19. lmao...... technically I should have an easier time translating bc I don't have as much of an issue with Chinese vocab but my hanzi recognition level is roughly the same as my Japanese if only someone could read out the subs to me... I'll see if I can get my mum to read out the translation of his notes tonight though and translate if someone doesn't do it before then
  20. 4. ‘I hate the part of myself that is weak. Really hate it, to the point of wanting to throw it away, to the point of commanding it to just ‘go somewhere else’. But it’s because people have weaknesses that they can become strong. It’s because I have weaknesses that, in order to bury them, I put my all into practice.’ Dec 2014 - The practice of looking away from the parts that one hates and only focusing on the parts that one likes about oneself probably also exists. With that approach, you could always be in a good mood and there is the chance that you can live everyday in a good state. It is almost certainly a more fun way to live. However, no matter how painful or unwilling, Hanyu faces the parts of himself that he hates thoroughly. Only truly strong people can see their own weaknesses (4/?)
  21. I think that would make the most sense, you’re probably right. Jisho.org gave me 俯す (lower) as an option though it’s an archaic term and also 付す can mean ‘submit’ which also kind of works so I just...don’t want to jump to conclusions and spread inaccurate info abt something essential ;;
  22. I’m also not sure how to translate 内容についてはふせさせてほしい. Not sure which ふ it is...can a native speaker help out here?
