  1. It's still up 20 hours later... unbelievable.
  2. And it's only closed until May 6th. From abroad it looks disappointing to say the least. I'm furious even at citizens in my own country for driving a few hours to their own holiday homes in the countryside. As @sweetwater said, rural communities can get overwhelmed very quickly. I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see someone not only enjoying the cherry blossoms but posting it on social media when so many people have made sacrifices to keep everyone else safe.
  3. Hachinohe is where Stars on Ice was supposed to have its first weekend of shows in a brand new venue called Flat Hachinohe.
  4. I'm holding onto the tiniest spec of hope that they'll convince him to be part of this covid charity thing on the 25th They'd raise so much money with even a 1sec blurry shot of his face.
  5. I would spend some of my ticket refund on a LQ live stream if I got to see Zu accept an award for 0.5 seconds tbh. I'm parched over here.
  6. Ari, hate to break it to you, bud, but there's not going to be a Skate Canada this year. Even if there was, what would be the point? Hardly any of the nominees would be there. Better to do it over Zoom now, at least we'll get a glimpse of our favourite skaters during these trying times.
  7. Mindful of the escalating negative COVID-19 developments, the resulting world-wide human tragedy and the measures taken by the public authorities as well as logistical challenges the ISU Council during its on-line meeting held on April 16, 2020 concluded that a postponement of the pending 2020 ISU Championships is not possible. Consequently, the ISU Council has decided that the following ISU Championships must be definitely cancelled: ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, Seoul, March 13-15, 2020 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, Montreal, March 16-22, 2020 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships, Lake Placid, April 3-5, 2020. In regard to the planning of the 2020/21 skating season and considering the uncertain development of the COVID-19 crisis and its impact on the staging of international sports events, the ISU Council will hold another on-line meeting on April 28 when different scenarios of the COVID-19 developments and impact on the ISU Event calendar will be discussed. The objective is to work out and communicate to all stakeholders options suitable for different scenarios in order to limit the uncertainty to the strict minimum. This evaluation will also consider the ISU Skating Awards in Figure Skating. https://www.isu.org/isu-news/news/145-news/13139-isu-statement-definite-cancellation-of-pending-2020-isu-championships?templateParam=15
  8. They started selling them in February. Looks like they’re offering refunds or allowing people to keep their tickets and attend the show next year.
  9. None of the other international skaters have travelled to Japan for the show and it’s far too early to make sense for it to be for insurance purposes, isn’t it?
  10. If Juniors are included, Kamila Valieva’s beautiful butterfly dress from her FS. Also Evgenia Medvedeva’s SP costume. Wait... both used the same music!
  11. Waka has the highest jump of any lady recorded by ice scope (2019 Japanese Nationals, 3lz FS combo) so height wise I’m not sure she really has a problem. She also has 3A but is yet to land it in competition. I’m sure we would have seen it at Worlds if it hadn’t been cancelled. Her main weaknesses are her flip edge (or federation, depending on how you look at it) and lack of transitions, especially in her FS this season. I’m still holding out hope that she’ll switch coaches. There was a rumour after 2017-18 season that she would train at TCC but nothing ever came of it. A lot of people rightly point out that TCC isn’t a cure all for every skater but I think she’d fit so well there. She’s so so so talented, I wish she’d take that next step.
  12. Wakaba There’s no skater in ladies closer to Yuzu in dynamism and a natural feel and understanding of music. She and Shae Lynn are a match made in heaven, too.
  13. I know this is OT but please everybody watch this video. This is advice we should be getting from out governments but thank goodness for this man.

  15. Change PCS factoring and they’ll just give even higher scores to those who are already getting maximum PCS for minimal effort due to their flag.
