  1. All the talk about English made me wonder if he'll ever be able to do a full after competition press conference without a translator. Now that's something I'd like to see. As wonderful as all the people who translate his Japanese answers are, still, a lot of things get lost in translation nevertheless, so I wish he could convey his thoughts in English easily so that I could understand him without thinking that something might have gotten lost in translation. (then I realize he might _do_the_thing_ earlier than reach such a level of fluency in English and well excuse me while I cry in the corner ok)
  2. Well, no one believed that Petrov would actually show us a quad after all those unfulfilled promises, but he actually delivered! Don't write him off. Though tbh I don't believe he'll emerge with a 4Lz or 4F (I think Mishin was saying something of that sort after Petrov landed a rotated 4T for the 1st time?). Lol, 'the trouble with Kovtun' is so on point. I hope Lazukin will find consistency and rise to the top among Russian men. He even tried a 4Lo at a local competition, but his strongest points are his balletic lines and quite nice skating overall, I think.
  3. Two questions; thanks in advance to anyone who answers: 1. How many shows did he do before 2013-2014 season? 2. How many shows would he do if he were to do DOI this summer?
  4. First choice was immediate: Hope and Legacy was the first program of his that I deliberately watched, and it will always remain special to me. It hits closest to home, so to speak. For me it is a lot easier to comprehend and feel it than programs with a clear-cut character (like Seimei, which I love dearly), I have a thing for programs which are about a skater themselves. And it's also... y'know... complex and gorgeous. Worlds FP is just stunning. Second choice was easy as well: Boston Requiem left me in tears, and I when I watched it, I didn't know what a disaster Boston FP was, what an injury he had and what thoughts have been going through his mind (about how this might be the last time he skates, ugh, my heart). I also wasn't really educated about the Tohoku earthquake. So I basically knew next to nothing about the program and his condition during the performance; still, it ripped my heart out. It was heartbreakingly beautiful, every move graceful and powerful at the same time, I particularly liked the spins. His expression at the end... This is the performance that I will rewatch rarely, because I have to treasure it. Third choice was hard. Really, really hard. I think my love for Chopin, Seimei, LGC, Notte Stellata and PW is equally strong. So I went with my third favorite EX of his... Vertigo. That Nebelhorn performance surely was something. And it was also the first time I heard this song, and it got stuck in my head for like a week! Anyway, young trying-to-be-rockstar Yuzu is one of the best things ever, this program really got to me. The Sensual Hip Rolls, as some call them, the fall on the axel (there we see the beginning of 'it was a fall but I'm gonna make it look like a part of the choreo'), the air guitar move in the end! (then I saw the costume in which he performed it at NHK10 gala... why...)
  5. I'm really worried about Gracie's jumps... I see that her body changed, but it is actually possible to jump even with such a body shape (take Austria's Kerstin Frank at Euros), I think. Anyway, Marina wouldn't probably take her if she didn't think Gracie would be in a competitive shape for the next season, so I guess we just have to wait. A lot of things can happen during the off-season, and I hope Gracie gets her jumps back and they are as good as they used to be (or better!). She does have a lovely flow, but she looked quite slow; while this particular program does not require fast movements, I hope she speeds up.
  6. I really hope she does! She is my favorite US lady. Also her attempt at 3A which was posted earlier this year was gorgeous and actually rotated (on some of those recent videos it was underrotated, I think?), so if she gets it to be more or less consistent, it's going to be sooooo good.
  7. An icenetwork article says she's going to include it in her FS next season, and yes, she already tried it at some minor Detroit competition after 4CC but it was not a very successful attempt.
  8. It's hard to pick just five - I had to leave out POTO2, which I really, really like, and the sparkly lettuce Requiem, and Hana ni Nare... I must admit, Purple Pants of Sin were an immediate pick. It's also interesting how I either love or really dislike his costumes, no inbetween. Also, 7 out of 20 are either mostly blue or at least have huge parts of blue (both versions of Chopin, POTO2, PW2, FTT(2), Etude, Hana ni Nare). Various shades of blue.
  9. I may or may not have a thing for skaters with a strong lutz, so no wonder Yuna stole my heart and got my vote. She really is an amazing skater. I also really enjoy Polina Tsurskaya.
  10. I am also one of those people who first watched YOI. While I was browsing through the YOI tag on tumblr, I found a couple of posts about Yuzuru, there was also one about Javi and somehow I remembered Patrick's name even though I didn't watch Sochi Olympics. So, anyway, those posts (thanks to everyone who posted them in the YOI tag) made me know something about figure skaters so I knew those three names when I watched GPF16. I only watched the free skate. So there was Shoma, who landed pretty much everything, then there was Adam who struggled a lot, then Nathan (I didn't understand a lot of things about FS so I really liked both him and Shoma during that competition, ah, what a time). Then there was Yuzu. From tumblr I knew that he was an amazing skater, so I expected a clean skate and, well, that didn't happen. Somehow at this point I was already rooting for him (I probably have watched his Sochi SP by this time, but I don't remember tbh), so I was really worried whether he's going to win. Then, well, Javier and Patrick didn't do so hot. Yuzuru won, I was really happy for him, and since then I started watching his performances, got into figure skating and completely stopped caring about YOI. This is also why H&L will always be a special program for me - because it was the first one I saw. Also it's funny how during this competition I liked those who delivered clean performances and now when I think about what those clean performances consist of... well, I don't like them all that much now.
