  1. Oh me too! I think it was previously OBS - Olympic Broadcasting Services - hopefully she will commentate again for them and we will have access to this Broadcaster! I am sure it was Belinda that I heard commentating when I watched PC live from the UK (was it via Eurosport?? I'm not sure) - I'll never forget the "it's like liquid gold" comment she made at the end of Chopin, it was such an apt description! I can absolutely remember the feeling I had as Yuzu did his last spin, it was awe at his skill, to return from injury in that way and to present something so beautiful - liquid gold indeed. I can't wait to see Rondo again - 2 weeeeeeksss !!! (to the team short - do we know who in Team Japan are doing which programmes?? I imagine if Yuzu participates in the team event, it would be the short?)
  2. I loved Yuzuru pointing out the Eurocentric nature of FS in respect of music choices and also mentioning stereotypes about lack of expression in Japanese people/skaters - it shouldn't just be up to Yuzuru though to say these things - these are things the governing body should be addressing, They need to demonstrate and enable a level playing field for all, and that is evidently NOT the case at all in figure skating....
  3. Yuzu is too cute (miming the JWB bit - yes he should have got that part, the main part!!)
  4. I suppose the one good thing he said was about Yuzuru pushing the sport forward, rather than his "rival" being responsible for doing so (which is what you'd believe if you were listening to US commentators!). I agree that he really should have also said about Yuzuru being a superior all round skater, especially with his own discipline being ice dance, but as you say it seems like everyone has been instructed never to mention that! There is Max of course who commentates for Eurosport in the West who frequently proclaims Yuzuru's GOAT status and superiority over any so called rival, and there are probably others - I know the Swedish and Hungarian commentators in Euros were expressing sadness and frustration about the move towards tech (well, jumps that means, forget about other elements!) and away from beautiful skating and musicality and performance in respect of how skaters are scored. Belinda Noonan is another and she liked the tweet about Yuzuru's superior Rondo programme and all round performance compared to other top men and their SPs, saying it was a "fantastic analyses" ! (see post a few before this one) Oh, and there's Plushy of course! There are a few, but they are not the loudest, and it's not the dominant narrative. Seeing Mai and Haein and Yelim being asked about how they can compete against Russians at Four Continents as they celebrate their success in the short felt such a rude thing to do and just reinforces this view that Asian women are not up to Russian women standards and deserve the low scores they get (Haein with a beautiful clean short, 69 - same as Anna's short at euros with a fall and no combination), despite the quality of their skating being so high and the obvious and blatant inflated scores of the Russians! (In the UK we have a seemingly similar (political) instruction that no-one in the press is allowed to talk about Brexit in a negative manner, despite the building evidence of how harmful it is to the economic wellbeing of the country, never mind how it has divided us and pushed people to polarised positions - it causes so much frustration that the truth is ignored - it really is a lot like FS!!!) EDIT: I realise the 2 biggest interests I have in life are politics and FS, so my life is a constant feeling of injustice being done - it's a bit wearing! I shall have to develop an interest in gardening, or yoga maybe!!
  5. Excellent - we may not get honest answers of course but it's great the journalist is putting pressure on JapanOC/IOC to properly explain why reference to Yuzuru was removed but not Shohei. So dodgy!!! At best, the only reason I could think of was they might not want to promote Yuzu without mentioning Shoma and Yuma too ie wanting to be seen to be fair - but maybe I am being too generous there!! At worst .... well I don't really know, except for wanting to ignore anything positive an internationally admired sportsman might have to say about Yuzuru because they don't want him to be viewed more favourably than others, including the competition from the USA maybe?? I'm sure other satellites have interesting thoughts on this!! Anyway, they were quoting Kohei and should have just been honest about what he said in full.
  6. lol didnt make much difference though as those at the bottom didn't get very many upvotes anyway!!
  7. Just another poll that Yuzu won by a landslide..... This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  8. Jeeez this would look so much better on Yuzuru imo !
  9. I am sure I read it but I am not sure if it is true! I'm like you - I love Tenchi a lot, Rondo is lovely but can be improved upon. I think the concept was to bring a number of programmes together that Yuzu loves into that costume as part of his "crystallising all I have learnt and done so far" vision. I love the neckline so much and hopes he keeps it as it annoys the masculinity brigade so much lol!! everything else, Satomi do your magic!!
  10. The OP says "the blossom on the "butt" has gone...." I'm sad, I liked that little detail, it was so cute! (surprisingly though I didn't notice until I saw this tweet!) Maybe it wasn't deemed appropriate for the Olympic season - time for costumes to get serious!! Btw I keep seeing fans tweeting about Yuzuru having 2 blue costumes to match the Beijing22 colour theme, but I am SURE I read after JNats that Yuzuru said there would be new Olympic costumes, did anyone else read this?
  11. Quad Axel consultant to Yuzuru Hanyu ofc!!
  12. Just read Kohei Uchimura has decided to retire - what a great athlete! If he needs a job I have an idea for him!! (I have linked the Yahoo Japan article in the Other Sports thread)
  13. Thank you SuzyQ 🙏🏽 He is a very convincing Slayer! I love he did this to introduce the anime before his turn on S-Park, so dramatic!!
  14. Oh I feel just the same as you about Yuzuru's skating....I remember saying after GPF19 that I really didn't want Yuzu to change his skating to do 5 quad programmes - none of us want that - I didn't want Nathan-type programmes and skating style leading Yuzu away from his own unique and beautiful style - but maybe I don't feel the same as you with the scores! It hurts, and I wish it didn't, but I don't seem to be able to change that! Even though it makes no difference to us in terms of enjoyment of Yuzuru's skating so much, it makes a difference to the enjoyment of competition! Competitive sport needs to be fair otherwise what's the point? it does seem to make a difference to him too - but maybe he has come to a point now of not seeing the scores as the chief markers of his success, more our love for him and his skating, how much we all want to see him skate, and how worried we are about the r word !! I do hope so. (But then again, he is saying he goes to win, anything less is pointless....) I hope so much the gods of everything fair and just in this world act to give Yuzuru the rewards he seeks himself.
  15. Just more ramblings under the spoiler....those elated feelings after JNats are quickly quelled in the face of USNats
  16. I understand there's a lot of snow in Japan currently, including in Sendai....Yuzu in a cosy bobble hat is kawaii!
  17. Whenever I make my partner watch Yuzuru skate, he always comments on how beautiful Yuzuru is too!! And my teenager does also! Still, I have not been able to turn them both into FS fans - I have tried very hard!! I even paid for them to come to Helsinki in 2017 with me to watch the men's free, which they loved, but still, no. Where did I go wrong??!!
  18. Was it Yuhana Yokoi?? or Yuna Shiraiwa??
  19. https://article.yahoo.co.jp/detail/dd0902731216e67c275590992300189920b0eaa4 Link for poll in Japan about the best male figure skater ever.... I won't spoil who won!! But: Reasons for voting for Yuzu: (Google translate) "It 's a good-looking guy with a small face, but it's also cute and makes a picture. The style is also good, so it's arranged like a doll." "I don't think it belongs to this world! It seems that existence has jumped out of the anime." "The beauty of style, the splendour of acting, it's amazing!"
