  1. FWIW, she understands at least some basic stuff like when fans ask her for an autograph and a photo. I know for sure that I was unable to say these phrases in Japanese last year at Nepela Trophy, yet she understood perfectly what I was asking for and I got both. It was painful to see her struggle this year though, I wish the best for her. Hopefully she regains her jumps and her joy.
  2. Invaluable. Thank you! If I have any additional questions, I'll use the PMs to avoid cluttering this thread. p.s. your English is just fine I think!
  3. Yes, I always use sota-sooko's blog to fish for Sota updates, she's really meticulous! Another useful one is shelley39's blog, also in Japanese. These also feature the interview transcripts that have been omitted on jsports page. Which reminds me - thank you so much for all your translations, I wouldn't be able to understand the vast majority of it without your help! If you fel in the mood, I would also be gratuful to learn what Sota and Kenji say about Sota not wanting to wear a red outfit for longer than necessary (not sure about the googled translation) - it's definitely in the first episode (video), but I'm not sure where exactly. I just know about its existence from sooko's blog transcript and some fanart. Maybe it's in the opening after Kenji's remark about seeing Sota's casual clothes for the first time? And one more question, maybe more suitable for the Japanese study thread: when Sota (asked about girls) says "スタイルいい人", how does the expression for 'shapely' differ from 'with a good style'? So confusing for me. ^ ^
  4. Many thanks for your translations, Rainbow! I'll repost them in Sota's fanfest again if it's OK with you. Poor boy, the ankle is apparently not 100% healthy yet since he only says it's not getting worse. I do hope he doesn't add quads yet, then. What a strange question of Kenji to ask if he remembers breaking his ankle, huh. Who wouldn't? I cannot wait to see next week's episode about his new programs! ETA: can you please also translate two bits from the beginning of the interview that didn't make it to the written transcript? The first one is Kenji asking Sota what his favorite sport is and Sota says skating and they elaborate a bit, and the other one is after Sota assures Kenji he's cool: it's a question about travelling in a time machine and Sota says he'd want to see dinosaurs because he liked them when he was little... at least I think so...? It's in the video which is on dailymotion, plus I found it mentioned in a fan blog.
  5. Ohh, thank you so much! Sota is so relatable. ^ ^ Would you mind if I shared your translation on in Sota's fanfest on goldenskate?
  6. and !!! I'm happy to read your translations! Eh, google translate is nonsensical when used between two vastly different langauges, so the Kansai dialect is not to blame. For example Sota's name in kana became 'okay', and '出たほうがいいの' became 'You'd better leave' (ok, I can't blame them for homonyms but it illustrates how sometimes the google translation becomes the exact opposite of what it should be)... and a whole bunch of other things. ^ ^ You're my saviour. My sensei should send you a bouquet of flowers, because it means I won't pester him with this all tomorrow, lol.
  7. I badly need to see this interview translated bc google translate is such a disgrace
  8. First one he'll be participating in, yes. He was assigned to TDF and NHK in 2016, but then he got re-injured and couldn't compete.
  9. I think I'd be invisible if I ate like that :[ Poor skaters. Never hurts to remind oneself how much they sacrifice for the sport.
  10. Yes, this man's words should be printed in gold letters. And I'd like to add, this isn't just about streams but videos as well. Make them available please, as not all of us can watch live streams due to timezones, and believe it or not, there are folk including myself who still don't have the recording option for TV coverages. I rely on internet videos. And muting music in skating videos is just dumb. It's an honor if a skater chooses someone's music, and it makes the chances that a viewer hears it, likes it and buys it much bigger than a boring mute video.
  11. Good that you could go, Danibellerika! I hope many fans sign the books, and that Denis' family sees how many people from all over the world respect and appreciate him. The local embassy's a bit out of hand for me so I thought to check in advance if there even is a book, but they haven't responded to my email yet. :[
  12. Thank you for the translation, Gaby! He already has. We will never forget.
  13. ^ I hope Keiji shows this engaging side of himself in competitions! He'd benefit from smiling more than he usually does. I wish the twitter poster was more specific in what exactly she overheard him say, I have no idea if 'possibly in Europe' is a part of what he said, or the poster's own assumption. I guess it's the latter. I doubt Keiji himself wouldn't know his exact Challenger destination at this point. My bet is on Asian Open in 14 days. He's competed there every year since 2015, and won the last two AOs. Also, he's not entered in either Gensan (sp?) Cup or Iizuka Cup, and neither is Hiroaki, so I guess these two are going to Asian Open. A bit worried about Sota TBH, as I expected to see his name listed in the competitions in Japan which didn't happen, and now I'm having 2016 throwbacks. Sorry, I had to get it off my chest. A worry shared...
  14. That's my only remaining regret. Daisuke's words alleviated almost all my fears but this one. As much as I'd like to see Takahashi compete again, the TBD GP was a chance for whichever lesser known skater is the best, to rack points and make international judes really notice them and award them accordingly in PCS in the future. I say 'was' because I'm 90% certain it will go to Daisuke. Probably deservedly if he already has his 3A back, but I'm still sad for the skaters who've just lost the chance of their lives to experience the elite senior stage (with one exception if one wants to nitpick).
  15. Looking forward to what we're going to hear at the press release. A part of me is afraid he'll become like Kostner, exactly as someone said above. And that his return would take away the much needed PCS fed backing (and intl competition spots needed to build experience) from the younger skaters. If they're aiming for Beijing, the time to start building their intl reputation is now, as I'm sure Daisuke won't stick around till then. Those are the only two things preventing me from being fully happy at his return.
  16. Sounds like an interesting choice for Shoma, I'm looking forward to what he does with it. Definitely a breat of fresh air after the classics (and after Alina's choice) I don't like the costume though... the ribbon-tie and the sequins look like a weird elementary school project to me. I hope he wears something manlier, though I don't object to an all-black outfit.
  17. Thanks for the update! Wishing young Koshiro best of luck, and looking forward to seeing him back in competitions! He seems to have grown a lot, I recall all those photos and videos where he's a tiny scrawny kid... good to see he's not lost his trademark grin though!
  18. I knew you would be pleased And how could I have forgotten An American In Paris...
  19. Ah, wonderful idea, very cathartic (if that's even an adjective). May I nominate: Liebestraum, Sing Sing Sing, It's a Wonderful World, Imagine, My Fair Lady, Cabaret, Masquerade Waltz, Nocturne, Oblivion and Blue Danube? And that famous Chaplin movie theme, I don't recall the name... Oh and Papa Can You Hear Me, that one too. There's also Meditation of Thais but I actually enjoy it...
  20. Perfect. That made my day. Thank you.
  21. Forgot about Hochstein, who said he wanted to quit this season too.
  22. Thanks for clarifying. Yup, just been to her twitter and only twitter users can access her art now. That sucks mightily, I loved her art and now it looks like I'll never be able to set that beautiful yellow light Rika image as my desktop anymore Even those watermark protection symbols would be preferrable to that...
  23. I can no longer see amari/charlottekreo's art that's linked here I hope she hasn't deleted her twitter account?
  24. Satoko makes a cute policewoman. Does anyone know if Keiji has ever done this, him being extremely suitable for the position? If so, I need to see the photos.
  25. I'd say the other certain names are Bobrova/Soloviev, Tobias/Tkachenko, Agafonova/Ucar for ice dance, and also Bychenko and Majorov have reportedly spoken of this being their last season... Reynolds seems to have quit, too? Also, hard to imagine Ten continuing but no official announcement so far.
