  1. Maybe not in this video, but he has already said that he wants to include the 4 lutz, see kaeryth's link. And jumping it at open skates, practices or senior B's is basically advertising it, even if it's not himself posting the video of it.
  2. I just posted this on golden skate and I'll post it here, too: Shoma advertising that he can jump a quad lutz just makes my head blow [edit: please don't speculate about skaters' intentions with an intention to criticize them ] Now people will probably say, that I'm ust a petty Boyang fan who doesn't like shoma in the first place, but guess what, I even like Shoma's skating. I've watched his worlds performances multiples times because I loved them so much. But I was always against UR and flutzing and even though the ladies discipline is now a lost case, men's flutz were called more accurately. A quad that only has 3 revolutions in the air is a triple and should not get the points for a quad. And a quad that only 3 revolutions in the air because it has so much pre-rotation that the skater it forced to jump from the wrong edge (inside instead of outside) should get even lesser points than a triple.
  3. As far as I know Boyang has said that he'll maybe add one quad, which would make it five. I Never heard him or his team speaking of 6 quads and I follow Boyang pretty closely
  4. so does someone know exactly when we're going to get the news? Because 4 hours earlier it was like: only 1 hour. then 2 hours earlier it was like: only 1 hour. now it's like: they are at lunch, only 1 hour left. you're kidding me right?
  5. from Zijun's Instagram of the open test skate: those lines are a thing of beauty
  6. I'm quoting myself here: 'What causes most injuries is less talented guys overtraining' While I can't say much about Adian's talent, but I was thinking of overtraining when I mentioned his name. Maybe I should have phrased it like following: 'What causes most injuries is less talented guys trying for quads or simply overtraining or training with bad technique.' This would be nearer to what I meant.
  7. I do like Zijun's choice of East of Eden though, even if the music has been used often Also, I think Sui/ Han might pull of a very touching performance to Halleluhja, so I'm reserving my judgement on this one Xiangning Li doesn't skate to a warhorse neither I think the problem with Boyangs sp choice is not that it's a safe choice (it's not actually), but that it's probably the bad compromise between people telling him to get a new program and ditch the Spiderman SP and people seing only the asian skater in him. Him skating to Crouching tiger is just like him skating to La Strada. I think he can perform it very well, but it's just such an old-fashioned choice, and while La Strada is at least widely known and established in skating, crouching tiger is not. None of young Chinese boys or men watch crouching tiger and think it's cool. And let's be honest, part of his PCS stem from him being the showman, exciting the audience, and people recognizing and identifying him with his Spiderman moves.
  8. Me too .... and very underwhelmed by the sp choice ...
  9. Totally agree! I wish to see longevity in skating, that's what made last year's worlds with multiple world champions, olympic medalists etc. competing against each other possible. I think, the reason why Yuzu was able to peak with 8 senior years is because his jumping technique is so good, that it only puts minimal strain on his body. He also has immense talent in jumping, which is helpful, too. Also, the tech and medical team in Toronto know what they do. With Shoma, I think training so many quads is not the problem. The problem is, he's training quads with his bad technique. I think it's just a matter of time till he gets a knee or hip injury. Nathan has good technique too, so I have hope that he could theoretically have longevity in this sport if he wants. But since his current plan is win the Olympic gold and then r****, I think he's being too relentless with his body right now. Boyang will most probably have some longevity. We already know that he wants to stay at least till 2022, also he has very good technique, too. Out of all youngsters, even if it sounds ridiculous, he is the one pacing himself the most. He only trains quads 1,5h hour per day at most, sometimes less to prevent injury. Also, he very very talented in jumping, which is why he can afford to limit his training time, while still landing the jumps. I don't think banning quads or restricting the numbers of quads would be fair, though. Even though I want to see longevity in men's skating, I think what causes most injuries is not the top talented guys training quads with good jumping technique. What causes most injuries is less talented guys overtraining or with bad jumping technique trying to achieve quads, like Eteri tried to do with Adian.
  10. Huh? I've always thought that single ladies tech panel are so much laxer and sklackier (more laid back) than men's. While UR in men is almost always called very consistently, top ladies are cut so much slack. In ladies, Kevin Reynolds would still be a top contender, just because his UR would not be called and he's from a big federation. The same goes to edges. While in men skating flutzes are usually called (with men having less problem with the lutz edge in general), ever since 2014 flutzes often are overlooked. I always thought the slack of the technical panel in singles ladies are the reason why ladies are so underwhelming (right now IMO), while men are the most exciting ever. about Shoma's 4ltz, I doubt he can rotate them ... he has problems rotating his 4 flip and 4 toe already, therefore he's pre-rotating a lot. With the correct edge, the lutz is impossible to pre-rotate, so the chances of him fully rotating a 4 lutz while not flutzing is pretty low. I'd really dislike to see him flutzing the 4lutz though. Shoma for me is like no other skater. When he's on, like he was at worlds, I absolutely love his skating. He was so on point with the music. But when he's not 110% on point I really really dislike his skating. He doesn't even have to make major mistakes, but I couldn't stand his skating the whole season even if he landed his jumps, because that musicality and choreography (IMO what makes his skating great) wasn't 100% on point. I don't watch Shoma because of his jumps, but because of his choreography, presentation and expression.
  11. Correction of what I previously posted, just to keep you updated, the nebelhorn tickets are available now, but the entries list are still not out yet
  12. Another one skating to 'The theory of Everything' soundtrack I really hope to see her skate to all of them in the future
  13. I threw together some music that I would love to see Zijun skate to and her past performances and made a few videos. Let me know which music choice is your favorite and if there are Zijun Weibo fan members here, don't hesitate to post there as all I want is for Zijun to see them and consider those music for coming seasons (maybe the one after the Olympics) Zijun skating to Fantasy for Violin: Zijun skating to Schindler's List: there are more to come^^
  14. So Yuzuru won't be at Japan Open? Is he attending Finlandia Trophy this year? Or maybe Nebelhorn? I think right now, if everyone went clean, Yuzuru is obviously the best out there - best jumping technique, transitions, complex and intriguing choreography and expression. I would love to see him skate clean programs at the Olympics (single event not team event!), so I'm all for the keep the 4 quads but don't try 5, because he doesn't need them to win. If he wants to try a 5 quad program, he can still continue after next season, right? I don't think Nathan with 6 or 7 quads, even if clean, deserves to win over a clean Yuzuru with 4 quads, because Nathan would have to disregard the performance even more than in his LP last season and it would be a travesty if that got him higher PCS than 82. It's not impossible though, but it would be kind of sad. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against jumping many quads, my favorite men's skater is Boyang after all , but I'm a LOT for performing and transitions. It's really a crucial thing in figure skating.
  15. Don't worry about it sublimeskating! I greatly appreciate your initiative to post news here, and it's better to know those things early on than too late I haven't booked anything yet, so no harm done (and even if, I found out that the area around Oberstdorf is looking really nice and relaxing) I guess, they still haven't decided yet if Boyang and Yang jin are going to go, or otherwise they would have just denied it or confirmed it, as the application for entries was due on July first. Keep us posted!
  16. oh and does anyone of you have a Weibo account? I did some statistics and tables for Zijun and would like to send her the link, but I don't have a Weibo account. Maybe someone who has one could send her the link on my behalf - I really put a lot of work in it and it would be kind of sad if she never saw it
  17. OMG where do I get tickets? I'll definitely go
  18. Zijun will skate to East of Eden!!! this has real potential
  19. yqs100 posted on golden skate that there will be some big changes considering ladies coaches. Does anyone know more? I certainly hope that Zijun is going to be coached by Brian Orser or is not possible, Mishin again, but I've been hoping for years, so I doubt this will happen....
  20. Lol, I'm not the only one who thinks Boyang gained some weight in the last couple of weeks
  21. Apparently Wakaba doesn't trust in Zijun's paddling
  22. Omg why didn't I see this earlier? This twitter user has tons of Boyang/Thomas/Zijun/Sui etc. short instagramm videos in Canada https://twitter.com/boyangjins
