The best Spanish skaters train abroad. Currently I don't think it is possible to compete at highest level if you train in Spain. Javi had exceptional talent for jumps from the start and it helped him to get noticed by foreign coaches.

If I watch some skating videos (preferably Yuzu) next day I skate better. Probably it is just a coincidence but I prefer to call it 'image training' Btw have you ever tried an off-ice spinner? I have read different opinions but I am still considering buying it. I hadn't noticed Yuzu had it until I saw these photos

Yes, it would be wonderful. My dream is that Barcelona will have its own permanent rink for high level competitions. Recently Spain granted citizenship to russian an canadian skaters in order to compete for Spain, so I guess things are changing a little bit. Since Olympics attract more casual viewers an Olympic medal for Javi would wake up more interest in figure skating. But his current set of mind puzzles me.

As much as I want him on Olympic podium I am not sure about this strategy. Even if he skates clean would GOE and PCS cover the BV difference?

I really hope Javi can change things a little bit. There are few rinks in Spain and competitive skaters are sharing them with general public. Sometime ago there was a project to convert temporary GPF rink in Barcelona into a permanent one for competitive skaters, but it seems dead now.

Actually there are only two 4Lz videos iirc. And there were many successfull 4Lo before ACI2016. But does it mean that 4Lz will go the same way?

Unless he wants to keep secret 4A success rate. He said he could land 4Lz, but so far we haven't got any footage of it.

I am trying to investigate the source. It seems to be a FB group with mostly Russian members. They publish FS news and rumours from unknown sources. I don't know if we can believe any of it. ETA Other publications are true, I've seen them before in other russian media.

Yes, I guess this is the main reason. I have just checked the list of participants for 4CC 2014 and there are very few skaters who attended Sochi Olympics. Denis Ten and Misha Ge were there for example. And Javi won European Championships one month before Olympics. I guess he will go and win this time again . And would Shoma go? He did many competitions last season and it worked really well for him.

4CC 2018 tickets are free, but I guess this time there is no chance Yuzu will attend .
