  1. Haha, I did promise a LGC rant, didn't I. I'll aim for sometime in the next few weeks to gather my thoughts. :space: And I forgot about that gladi, you're absolutely right! I remember he said that he tries not to make his toe-picking too obvious, he always tries to pick very light and without much preparation so that it doesn't disturb the flow. Definitely Yuzusthetics  Oh yeah that is also the reason he loves axel jump the most right? because it gives such a natural flow since its a forward take off. It'd be lovely to read that LGC rant so i'm looking forward to it (though no pressure if you dont have the time ^^;) Thank you gladi and unicorn both for answering! It's all very interesting. (is there some image of his LGC pattern on ice?)
  2. The Tetsuya Kumakawa part is very interesting. It's a pity that Takahashi seems not quite followed up his description. I wonder if Yuzu can appreciate it more, because he certainly learned a lot from the talking with Nomura Mansai. Well Yuzuru is as good at understanding the theory behind figure skating as at skating itself :goe: His analyses are always a pleasure to read, they are deep and accurate. More so he is very eager to learn more about sport in general. I recall that conversation he had with the gymnast Kenzo Shirai about jumps   (Also: 25 posts yessss! :yay: ) yes, i have always been impressed with him about this. there's that video where he was still in his early senior career talking about mastering quad toe loop. he doesnt really talk about it as a 'feeling' as i thought skaters would usually say, but gave a really analytical explanation about how to regain the balance even if the axis was off. I think he would definitely click more with Tetsuya Kumakawa than Dai. His explanation about jerking his muscles to adjust his air position (and his F1 example lol) is very interesting. Dai looks so lost... Anyway, i have a question. The reason yuzu 'jump a salchow that look like a toe loop' and vice versa was because his sp was all edge jump and it'll 'look boring' otherwise right? (edit: wait dont tell me its just because he wants to challenge himself? lmao) Because it's not like it gave him any advantage risk-wise and score-wise... (i still cant believe he's this extra about small details) but what does he meant by that? the entry? transitions? i remember he said something about edge jump and something about curve... but i dont remember much else Edit: also reading this thread made me remember how after that mayor suggesting shoma to jump quint, ppl were like 'maybe he'll jump it by accident xD' (joking ofc but still) and i cant help but laugh at how ridiculous it sounds :rofl2: ppl... you cant jump quint... by accident... especially one with less than stellar technique
  3. i was reading that shoma's interaction with the Nagoya major (which disturbed me a bit, the major is kinda ), and then i remembered something, is it true that at one point Sendai and Shizuka was the one financially suporting yuzuru's skating career? i feel like i read that somewhere but i dont know if it was actually coming from his mouth or people figured it out themselves or something.
  4. Maybe he should troll Brian Orser with a costume like this? ;) while i dont think he would wear something like this, i do think he will go with something blue and gold. Because he love those colors.
  5. yeah he definitely was very nervous in the team event and it showed. But i think thanks to that, he relaxed more on the single. PW in the single event was the first time i watched him and will forever be close to my heart. I hope he can give that kind of performance in PC and make more people fall in love with his skating!
  6. well i'd rather all the divine power be focused to make it so yuzu get the second gold in the single event
  7. Oh the bigger picture is much better than i thought :yay: I agree that Japan needs to start investing a bit more into pairs and ice dance.
  8. im also curious about this. does japan's chance rely entirely on their pairs later? or they already qualify? is there a worst case scenario where japan wont perform in team event ?
  9. im glad he decided to go to FaOI since it means the summer wont be that bad for us, but ofc also worried, a bit. btw, how many programs did he usually do in one show? i have a feeling he'll perform notte stellata, but i dont know what else. i'm really hoping for something new like maybe a collab with artist he likes. i really love that Change collab with monkey majik, he seemed to really have fun there. Although it was an old ex program of him.
  10. omg 4A in an ice show??? :omg: omg yuzu...!!! :omg: do you have footage of this... here
  11. Thank you so much for the translation! I love how yuzuru answer questions in interview like this.
  12. which will come first, winning SC/4CC or 4F? I think 4F is still a long, long time coming. He'd do it only for the sake of having a complete quad collection Yeah but they said he didnt land it, and we dont even have a video evidence that it was indeed a 4F
  13. @meoima your explanation makes understanding this so much easier, thank you! It was in but by CoC. i hope he brings back that transition somehow because
  14. This. Also, since he was injured in 2014-2015 season he didnt upgrade at all in that season. I'm pretty sure he'd include 4Lo in 2015-2016 already if he hadnt been. imo adding a new jump is as risky as doing a bunch of new combos, so he needs to choose what he's most comfortable with. ofc I'm hoping for 4Lz because less quad with more BV but whatever he choose i'll support it. what i'm more curious about is if he add 4Lz, will he replace 3Lz with another jump? What kind of jump? Will he really go for 5quad so 3A could be the last jump? I kinda want 3A for a last jump but i dont want 5 quad (more like i dont want 3 quad in the second half).
  15. The problem then would be this: 4Lo 4S 3F // 4S3T 4T 3A2T 4T1Lo3S 3Lz - BV: 105.41 (+1.98) It's not that much of an upgrade compared to what the youngsters will be adding in, and he already is behind on both SP and FS BV to all of the sQuad, including Shoma. Edit: Now this, would be a different matter... 4Lz 4Lo 3F // 4S3T 4T 3A2T 4T1Lo3S 3A - BV: 111.26 (+7.83) Tbh, this is how I see things. Why risk 4Lz if is not reliable yet, when you can do it this way. :pbow: but is adding 4Lz really more risky than adding a 3rd quad (which is a new combo too) in the second half? he didnt even get +GOE at WTT, he also opted out part of the choreography to prepare for the 2nd 4T, better do that combo with 3A imo
  16. is there a chance that he will not use 3F for his third jump? i read somewhere that he wanted to get rid of it in favor of 4Lo for seimei but then didnt. although i love, love his 3F because it really feels like part of the stsq. he could be thinking of a 5quad program with 4S as a third jump for example. and since if he decided to included 4Lz he most probably wont include 3Lz, 3F could replace it. Although i'm not so sure for it to be the last jump. maybe he will simply do his stsq +3F in the beginning of his second half. his 3F in H&L was already close to the second half i'm sure he can do it. possible 5quad with 4Lz (which is totally crazy but anyway): 4Lz 4Lo 4S // 3F 4S3T 4T2T 3ALo3S 3A (BV = 110.96) after i typed this i'm suddenly unsure because it looks so exhausting edit: nevermind, he could lose so much with this layout lmao he should stick with 4quad with 4Lz
  17. i love this guy as well! his fancam for worlds 2017 fs was the one i first watched after fuji tv blocked all those videos, it's so touching when he cried that i also cried. when i checked his videos i was so surprised that he had the fancam of R&J 1 from world 2012 (although it was short...) oh i didnt know that one, thanks! Abe is such a good influence on him and we can see how yuzu himself treasure her a lot
  18. I don't think Nanami gets enough credit for what she gave Yuzu. Look what she's teaching him here? Alignment in his air position for his jumps  If you don't have this during rotation, there is no way you can land your jumps correctly. How many times must she have done this for him? wasnt she also the one who teach yuzuru the 'cross' thing to check body axis at the start of his program? and now it becomes his habit? i saw her reminding yuzu of it when she gave the 'coach pep talk' (either at gpf 2011 or world 2012 i dont remember)
  19. wait, yuzu was training 4Lz as final jump last season? i didnt know that :wtf: i do believe he will add 4Lz at least in the LP though. I think what he meant by his comments about improving things like GOE, etc is that he wont JUST be focusing on the new quad, but ALSO thinking about other things to ensure a high score, not that he wont be thinking about new quad at all. i've been pretty obsessed with watching his practice videos, and when he was just stroking along the rink his edge was so deep im  im gonna die if he started skating like that in the whole program next season. i believe he said that he can skate 'like patrick' but it takes on his stamina? i dont know how old that comment was though. But it seems his stamina has improved a lot, as he also said (he did 3 quad in 2nd half and didnt seem THAT tired). I hope he bring that level of skating skill to the actual program (without dowgrading any transitions, but who am i kidding yuzu would never downgrade his transitions  ) True, the coaches shoulder some responsibility. Looking at Mao and Kanako who were such strong natural jumpers I think about what might have been Yes! I think of that often  i AM worried that this is all gonna blow up in shoma's face after Oly season. (im gonna cry if this really turns out like mao n kanako) After all, the big reason judges wont call anything is because they cant take the risk changing for Oly. Although i heard he goes to some kind of training to correct his jumps? Not that ive seen anything different... but to be fair you're right, it IS hard to correct such techniques because it's been ingrained in you since childhood. i would hope that after 2 top skaters getting into similar situations, they would learn.... but i guess not.
  20. still no news on yuzu, huh? its still in early on the off season but i miss him already.... he's definitely in canada now, i hope he already choose what music he wanted to skate on at least? question, do you guys think, like he said, he really dont have any plan for the music he wanted to choose in the olympic season when he was asked that question at the end of last season? because i have a feeling he at least had some ideas and probably have been collecting olympic-appropriate songs all these times... maybe too many to choose from, even (no plan yuzu doesnt sound like yuzu at all )
  21. i love boyang's spiderman (and i think yuzu love it too judging from how he subtly nodded his head to the music when boyang practice  ) i hope he will use a program as fun and as unique as that! also, same about la la land. i'm sick of it.
  22. sorry this is a bit err... controversial(?) but is "Lets talk about GS FF' thread for public to see? because i think it'd be better if it's set for member only (maybe members with at least 1 post) just so trolls (edit: these means lurker) from GS or other place who wanna see what people say and stir MORE DRAMA wont get content for it without joining and posting at least once (and getting banned if theyre actual troll)
  23. lmao the last time on the other place people were freaking out he was gonna switch choreographer to DW because of that article, remember? what's the continuation of that anyway? that it was indeed a rumor? I love Liu Xinyu so much. I must say i'm glad yuzu asked for help that day in beijing (thats what made them close right? cmiiw) that fans were/are/will be provided highly entertaining pic like the princess carry ones lol
  24. if it is not too much trouble, can we have an option to embed youtube video and twitter? i asummed we'll be posting a lot of those things and some people may prefer to just see it here rather than clicking the url to take it to another page @yuzuangel i think what @ShiroKJ means is something like, say in tumblr, when we post a link, its not the url that shows up on the post but just an underlined title that if we click will take us to the url edit: also i noticed when i edit post, the post in question does not inform the readers that it has been edited, this could be a problem? and usually there is some time limit (15 min?) to edit post so user wouldnt just edit it after like, two days for example, because it will be confusing. Thank you for all your hard work, you guys rock
