No confirmation yet but the bit she posted sounds like the last six seconds of It's All Coming Back to Me Now. -

It's still so early to say much about Rika's or Satton's programs, by the time the season and the first competitions starts we'll see more. Both music choices are original and something new for them at least. Rika's SP is a very interesting mix of modern jazz with bossa nova elements in it - which I think is a very challenging choice for her. -
Hope & Legacy is modern and classical but very Japanese at the same time, really different from modern Western compositions. Seimei is not subtle like H&L and Yuzu had to work on it a lot as it was already pointed out. Sadly ISU won't start banning warhorses anytime soon, it never happened before.

You are more open minded, judges are often not. They are used to Western music in figure skating because that's what they heard in the past decades + most of them come from Western countries anyway so they're more familiar with that kind of music. There may be one or two Japanese, Korean, or Chinese judge at competitions but other judges are usually from Western countries, so it depends on the panel but the majority of judges are usually from Western countries. I'm talking about the biggest competitions here (Worlds/Olympics). Check the panel at Worlds this year, the men's event was very western-oriented again. Most music that is different to what they already know is harder to accept for them (unconsciously or not). Even if we talk about warhorses in Western music, judges usually prefer the more known pieces too. That's one of the main reasons why skaters usually choose more warhorses in the Olympic season. It's the safer choice and no one wants to risk that much in the Olympic season because they want to get higher possible scores at the most important competition of the quad (or their whole career). We have seen how judges scored Hope and Legacy and that was without lyrics. A competitive program with Japanese lyrics would probably be even harder to accept for them imo.

I agree with this and I often think that Shizuka doesn't get enough credit when it comes to influences on Yuzu's skating. Maybe because there's always more talk about Johnny and Plush in general, I don't know. I have recently rewatched her free skate from the Olympics and the influences are so evident I wouldn't give that much or any credit to Jason, though.

2019/2020 Season Program Announcements

Rika skated her new SP today at FaOI and the music seems to be Breakfast in Baghdad -
It'll be a different program, not the program he skated to in 2014/15. The music is POTO/Masquerade, and it'll be a collaboration between Yuzu and Toshi from the group X Japan. So the music, the choreo and also the costume will be different.

Which GP(s) do you think Yuzu will choose?
sallycinnamon replied to yuzuangel's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
I picked SC and NHK but Rostelecom may also be possible. We'll see! -
This has been shared already but thank you for bringing it up again. I loved the whole interview but one part particularly stood out: Reading this hurts in a way because I think what he shows on the ice is not respected enough, but on the other hand no matter what happens he'll continue what he wants to do and he'll also continue to inspire millions of people around the world. As fans I think what we can do is to show how much we support him as he continues to make his dreams come true.

Javi's new ad. Did they alter the colour of his Chaplin costume?

These music choices are so good, all of them Sheila Chandra's song is so beautiful and such a rare choice (I used to listen to her album with this song on it many many times). Also Dead Can Dance, wow. It's just too early to judge anything yet but I also have trust in Tom Dickson and I'm looking forward to this program so much. -

At least we have the exact date so we'll know for sure after 20 June. And we don't have to wait until the very end of the month.- 6,825 replies

It is, but for the SP it may be more understandable. I hope she doesn't stay in the comfort zone for the FS. -

From today's clips it really seems it'll be this free skate music (or at least part of it). If it's true then it's a brilliant choice It's something different than what she has done so far, it's very mature and a serious piece of music, I think it'd suit her really well! -

Yes, I meant that music! Yuzu's dance was brilliant I remember how he stood by the boards and you could see that he was planning something because there was a mischievous smile on his face. And a moment later he started to dance to Korobushka! -
