I live in NC's hometown, SLC and I haven't heard a single person talk about his gold medal. I also literally live 5 minutes away from the Olympic torch from 2002, so the Olympics are usually a big deal here (I'm kind of ashamed to say that this gives me a little bit of bitter satisfaction).

Just goes to show NC will never have the cultural impact or success Yuzuru has, no matter how many gold medals he wins. :yuzushrug:

Hello hello~~~
wondering what you think of NC saying his dream is to go to med school after skating lmao

honestly when I found that out I was literally so off put idk

Somehow you ignored all of my points :68468287: JSF and judges do not expect anything from Yuzu except for him being out of the way.

But judges did give WR to Yuzu's clean SP programs since pyeongchang. Although underscored 2020 4CC SP did receive good scores. It was always the free skates they never scored him right because they found every excuse to downgrade him on little jump mistakes. Double standard yes because they forgive Nathan's jump mistakes.

Yuzu has never had a perfect clean free skate against Nathan since 2017 Worlds and the judges have been so harsh on his minor errors since then, especially on his free skates.

Nathan said that when he first got accepted into Yale. He was doing pre med if not mistaken, his foundation studies. Not sure abt when he go up 1st year University.

But Yale expects their students to study full time, not like other universities where can study online. Earlier Nathan did say max he could get was 1 year off his studies, which was supposed to be the year before Beijing OG. Then COVID happened, there was school break cos of that. So total Nathan got around 2 years off his studies to focus on Olympics.

I remember reading interviews where Rafael said he preferred Nathan to train at his training center, not online through video call like what they were doing.

Now that, Olympics is over, Nathan will have to go to his studies.

Why would that be off putting? Im confused. Is he not allowed to have outside goals beyond skating? I've seen a lot of snarking and vicious glee that Nathan isnt getting as much "exposure", so if I come across rude or overly defensive... This is why. He's 21? 22? Jesus. People need to lay off. Yuzuru is GOAT, yes, but if we have to tear someone down to prop Yuzuru up...seems low to me.

People are allowed to love or hate his skating, but we can stick to overscoring (judges) and the like.

isnt it better to have another goal beyond skating? We ALL saw how devastated Yuzuru was to think the 4A and his goals were in vain, if he had another passion beyond skating...would that have helped buffer the hurt? Purely speculative, but a consideration. Heck, maybe he does, he's private enough lol.

WTF.....

You ask people to not criticize Nathan for having other goals other than skating (or using skating for other personal goals) but you yourself question Yuzu’s sole focus on skating? Who are we even to question him or say he would suffer less if he had other goals.

Nooo, I asked a speculative question. Which is not criticizing. Not sure since when concern/worry is the same as criticizing. People want to put Nathan on blast for not being dedicated only to skating, while Yuzuru was wholly focused. It's a compare/contrast and there is no "right" answer beyond what suits them best. Damn one to raise another? I dont agree with that.

Your speculative remark was more off-putting than people criticizing Nathan’s obvious lack of passion for skating. Especially your choice of wording. You can adore Nathan. But expressing concern over a legend dedicating his life and health to achieve a massive goal shows lack of vision. All innovations in the world, with no exception, are results of huge sacrifices, unwavering determination and temporary failures.

LOL!! Wanting Yuzuru healthy is a lack of vision. Noted.

your own word: "isnt it better to have another goal beyond skating? " is not wanting him healthy, it's lack of respect for his goal lol
