Tarakanova for sure - she's so fearless. You Young has more issues, I think... but she's so full of courage and pluck.

I need to go back and see which one You Young URed on, didn't catch it in real time. But I think she also grew a bit. Tarakanova definitely has beautiful big jumps.

@Yatagarasu what has to happen for Nastya Tarakanova not to get into the final?

I counted yesterday and I think she's in. I haven't been able to find a permutation that kicks her out. But on the other hand, I might have missed something, so I didn't bold her in red. It was actually good for her that Yamashita ended up as she did, because this 2+3 is a better option for Tarakanova (obviously not Yamashita herself).

Tbh, I'm hoping I'm right because I really, really want to see her there!

She's in. There are not enough JGPs and skaters who can win them to kick her out of the Top 6 since she'll win any tie breakers by virtue of her 1st place in her first JGP.

Basically the following:

  • Rika needs to win JGP Italy (28) or get second (26), but then it'll depend on others and in tie breakers whether she makes it. Same for Eunsoo at JGP Poland. And for Nana.
  • At JGP Poland, Daria needs at least 3rd place and a tie break with Tarakanova. Sofia needs the same at JGP Italy if she's sent there.
  • Alena Kostornaia is a wild card. She needs to win in Poland to get a second assignment, otherwise Guliakova will be at Italy, where she needs to win or place second.
  • At this point, you need to aim for 26 points or higher in order to get in.

A few permutations:

Alexandra TRUSOVA (1+1) 30 Alexandra TRUSOVA (1+1) 30 Alexandra TRUSOVA (1+1) 30 Alexandra TRUSOVA (1+1) 30
Daria PANENKOVA (1+1) 30 Daria PANENKOVA (1+1) 30 Alena KOSTORNAIA (1+2) 28 Alena KOSTORNAIA (1+1) 30
Sofia SAMODUROVA (1+1) 30 Guliakova or Rika or Eunsoo (2+1) 28 Rika or Eunsoo (2+1) 28 Sofia SAMODUROVA (1+2) 28
Anastasia TARAKANOVA (1+3) 26 Anastasia TARAKANOVA (1+3) 26 Anastasia TARAKANOVA (1+3) 26 Daria PANENKOVA (1+2) 28
Rika or Guliakova or Eunsoo (2+2) 26 Sofia SAMODUROVA (1+3) 26 Sofia SAMODUROVA (1+3) 26 Anastasia TARAKANOVA (1+3) 26
Rika or Guliakova or Eunsoo (2+2) 26 Guliakova or Rika or Eunsoo (2+2) 26 Daria PANENKOVA (1+3) 26 Rika or Eunsoo (2+2) 26

That's pretty much it. Unless we're both missing something :smiley-laughing021: but seriously, I don't think we are.

I am only not sure about Kostornaia, even if she wins. How far in advance do they have to switch assignments? I am way too tired to go look but it may be that if the rules are tight, even if she wins, Gulyakova may stay.

GS seems to believe you can change assignments in time (48h?) as long as the skater is on the Substitute list. But I'm not finding replacement deadlines on the announcements.

Ah, well they're probably right, thanks. Well in that case, it's all up in the air. Guess we wait now to see how it unfolds. She's good but plenty of names there. Heh, JGP is delivering, that's all I'll say!

If Kostornaia gets second, she may still replace Guliakova if she has better total score on her first JGP. And I wonder, would the Russian Fed give Alena's Poland's assignment to Konstantinova, despite her third place?

Also, JSF should really get Nana into Poland instead of going against Rika at Italy.
