They mentioned the flip a while ago when he was complaining about all the quads the guys are doing.  Another question is how many quads is Chan planning with this flip?

At this point, if he adds the 4F, he has to go for four quads. No reason to keep at 3. Same for Javi if he brings the 4Lo.

With this kind of future, it seems hard for Yuzu not to bring 5 quads in. Although I'd rather he kept 4 and added 4Lz.

I think he'll do 5 quads.. I mean Nathan could be doing 5/6 quads so yuzu really have to fight for it

If Nathan does go for 7 or even 6 quads I can't imagine the rest of his program will hold up, even if he manages to improve his artistry etc
But idk if I trust the judges to give lower PCs as long as he lands everything or even most of the jumps :knc_brian3:

I would rather not play it safe than play it safe and lose out. I'd feel more regretful.

I would as well but not sure about Brian :idk:

Uhmm a 3 type of quads layout would up their current BV around 5 points, and around 2-3 more points with 4 quad layout, depend on how they backload their jumps. I think 4 quad layout is too much risk for Javi and Patrick at this point since they often make mistake with the quad in 2nd half. 3 quad layout with 4Lo/4F, 4S, 4T is safer, no worry about +REP and less change in their current layout.

The saddest bit is that in the end I doubt it will even matter if they do and it'll all come down to tech score, there's just too little points to be gained in PCs comparatively :notamused:

Except 4 quads isn't playing it safe, or is it? a 4 quads FS is currently the world record, and it was even underscored.

I don't know, this talk makes me a little gloomy... as if Yuzu would feel like he can't keep up with the sport and continue to push it forward if there are people who do more quads than him, when in reality these people do less than half of his skating when they're not jumping.

Going clean is better for the health, is better for the mind, is better for the performance, which are three things Yuzuru cares a lot about. If he can go clean both SP and FS with 4 quads in the long, and break the +340 barrier, I'm fine with that.

But since pushing the sport forward also means a lot to Yuzu, he will probably try to do 5 quads in the long and still pursue the same kind of consistency. And if we are lucky enough, we're gonna see exactly that.

Today I had my very last exam at university and I took a piece of Yuzu with me. It was a music exam and we had an elective topic to prepare. Mine was the use of music in figure skating... :devilYuzu:

I showed Yuzu's H&L performance in Helsinki to my professor and I analyzed it a bit. He didn't know anything about figure skating, but seemed interested. He said he didn't expect athletes and coreographers to pay so much attention to the music and that the performance had intrigued him. He also commented on Yuzu ("Oh, he is so young!" and "He can do whatever he wants on ice")

It was really a nice exam and I am glad I was able to combine study and passion (and to promote figure skating and Yuzu).

Also @gladi's translation of the interview with Keiichi Yano had the perfect timing for me. Thank you so much for sharing it! :thankyou:
