Okay, I learned from this clip that there was an official Facebook page for the PM's office and they congratulated Hanyu (as well as other medalists).

ETA I read what I could but I can't make out all the charcter's in the 4-1-4 sentence which is also cut off at the end. Before that was the quote about 4A being his only motivation and how he jumped 14 axels and how high his axels are (I think.) After it talks about him trying it in gala practice at last year's Worlds. Halp.

They always look better with lower quality cameras.  Pro stuff is made to cut glare so you never see just how sparkly they really are on TV.

ohhh ok i see! yeah on tv i can tell that the costumes are really intricate and etc. but never the sparkles

I can’t remember whose it was but there was one at NHK, maybe Evgenia’s, and it looked like mercury, liquid metal swimming around. It was amazing.

haha the fact that I might be able to see the sparkles in real life is only reinforcing my desire to one day drop my life savings on airplane and figure skating tickets
