i love that red color , not flashy but royal and solemn and also festive... what does the writing say ?

It's the same we wrote on the banner for competitions "risou no saki he" i think the translation was "go beyond the ideal" which is what he wanted to do this season. 

I believe he can do it, so for the new year, my wish is that he can focus himself to achieve it. I know he can do it. I wish we can find hope in those words while we wait for him to come back.

I made a mistake when searching for the kanji by radical (before @Hydroblade said what it means) and ended up with a slightly different result but somehow it still seems somewhat fitting for this season
