  1. @Skrimblo_iced This thread with video explanation is very clear to explain the difference in technique for an axel jump And this other one that shows the technique and marks left on the ice. This is what Yuzu was explaining about his particular technique avoiding pre-rotation: https://video.h5.weibo.cn/1034:4793055493161023/4793056564349083
  2. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but there are some compilations with explanations on YouTube YUZURU HANYU - COMPLETE 6 JUMP ANALYSIS + GOE ANALYSIS YUZURU HANYU - Highest Scored Jumps from each season | 2013-2020 (not in slow motion, but you could select to play the video in slow motion) Yuzuru Hanyu 羽生結弦: Best Recovery Jumps and Layout Changes (this one is fun to watch because it shows how good Yuzu's mind, technique and reflexes work) I also love Elisa's (@Lunnarias on Twitter) analysis of Yuzu's jumps, which of course include slow motion videos. These are on her Instagram: Yuzu's 4Lo (part 1) & Yuzu's 4Lo (part 2) Yuzu's 4Lz Yuzu's 3A
  3. And talking about interpretations, I found this thread very interesting. I think Yuzu had been giving signs for quite some time that he was ready to move on while also sharing what he was feeling. Danse mon Esmeralda was just the most obvious of those messages that we weren't able to interpret (or didn't want to?). About the other clear signs: Masquerade, Rondo (see Shae-Lynn Bourne explanation of the choreography) and Tenchi. The story of Kenshin who fought many battles and after facing defeat with his army ponders whether to continue fighting or take a new path to priesthood.
  4. I posted something about the meaning of Raison, the costume and the rolling up the sleeve some time ago, along the same lines of @LiaRy I recently read a post from a Japanese fan, she/he was mentioning something like Yuzu being given a 'slap or hit on the shoulder' by JSF and ISU. The image of Raison and Yuzu holding his shoulder came to my mind. So I looked for the concept and it seems to be an equivalent of giving someone the cold shoulder. But I also found that there is a move in Go (Japanese strategy board game, similar to chess) that's called Katatsuki (shoulder hit). The move is used to reduce the territorial potential of an opponent's group without being easily captured. When I read that description I thought how Yuzu had been increasingly cornered by organizations that cannot be made easily accountable for their actions.
  5. Thanks!!! I'm recording right now. Will send you a DM when I have saved the video on Google Drive or something. I'll probably need to divide it in parts because the video will be heavy!
  6. TRANSLATION OF YUZU'S PRESS CONFERENCE While we wait for better translations of Yuzu's press conference of July 19, I did a quick machine translation with DeepL. Thankfully, the Asahi Shimbun Globe posted a full transcription of the press conference in Japansese, so I just copy/paste. Please read with some creativity as machine translations can be weird. I saved the translation, the full video conference, and the translations done by fans so far here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-XV8EBO-rNqFpchWEKUmk0CUlD9nGBR0?usp=sharing Original source: https://globe.asahi.com/article/14673858 This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  7. I can record them but I will probably scream for help to upload them. What if I focus on Shizuoka Day 1 & @Lynn487on Day 2?
  8. Shizuka Day 1, 2, and 3!!!! https://planethanyu.com/topic/1791-fantasy-on-ice-2022-in-shizuoka/?do=findComment&comment=528389

  12. Yes, that's what he said during the post press conference interview with Shuzo-san (Hodo station). He retired from competitive figure skating (some would say he retired from JSF and ISU). But he is pretty much doing the same as he had been doing until now in terms of goals, drive, training, etc. Video dnippet with English translation of that part of the interview: https://twitter.com/sarah_sohma/status/1549854201643413505?t=RHTuyXS6QvkurkyACt0-BQ&s=19 Written translation of the same interview he talks about being practicing the night before in page 10): This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  13. Many fans were asking for a new coordinated action to support Yuzu so, with @Sun_Rise other fans, we just launched #Challenge4Yuzu on Twitter. There is also a Spanish translation of the instructions. I am sharing here both post: Version en Español:
  14. Hi! I am compiling the interviews that have been translated (video sub or written translation) in one thread on Twitter.
  15. I added the most recent translations of the interviews of Yuzu with Asahi TV and TV Tokyo, Of course, this are not exhaustive translation, but they help to keep us in the loop until we get the most important interviews and press conference translations from Axel with Wings. Also, there is my folder where I have been saving subbed videos and written translations, as well as some press coverage in English. @Henni147, I some of the press coverage might be useful to update Yuzu's Wikipedia page (e.g. Yes, he is the GOAT) or give more references to support the milder statement that I know you had to use for several reasons.
  16. I saw this tweet that I found informative. The chart shows how Yuzu's scores didn't go up in spite of performing more complex programs and he getting better and better. And as you say @Melodiewe don't know much of the politics of JSF, but for what I have read they have not been very subtle. Won't go deeper into that as it might be a topic more suitable for the Salt Mines
  17. I might be jumping late into this but I think the time is ripe for the letter. Of course, we have seen how the unfairness has affected Yuzu, but this goes way beyond him. ISU (and the feds) need to be made accountable. If Yuzu went through this, others might as well though they cannot say anything because they don't have the fan base and sponsorship support to be able to voice the mistreatment. Imagine those skaters who want to continue involved in competitive figure skating as coaches or choreographers. They have to stay quiet.
  18. Yuzu went on the 20th. But it seems that the timeline is OK, see the post below.
  19. My pleasure! There is so much info coming out in little pieces and at times when we are not necessarily watching... it gets very confusing. I have kept adding new interviews to the thread (like the one from News 'Zero'). BTW, I started my 'campaign' of asking Japanese Media to share some of the interviews and the press conference with English Subtitles. I ended up posting a request under a post from Asahi TV with images of the Special Program with Yuzu. You can give it a like or add your own requests. Let me dream that we can get something
  20. I have been thinking that we should start requesting to Japanese TV stations to provide subbed interviews. At least the press conference and the key interviews like the one with Shuzo (after all some of us access Asahi TV through Japan TV and similar services... so we are clients?). Not to be pushy, but this is such a huge announcement and we get 10% of what is going around and only thank to fans that translate the info... and we know that grasping the right meaning to convey the message can be super tricky. Perhaps we can post a request under some key media on Twitter? E.g. Asahi TV, NHK. If they see enough request in English perhaps we get something?
  21. Axel with Wings will probably translate the Press Conference and perhaps the Interview with Shuzo-san? But that will probably take some time. There are some videos with English subs of Yuzu's opening remarks for the press conference posted by @sarah_sohma on Twitter. And Tsukiyominoasa shared written translation (it's quite good). I started compiling written English translation and subbed videos on this folder. This is my little treasure, so please treat it carefully. I really want everyone to find happiness in Yuzu's words and plans for the future: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18qocBihezkQVKWqm4pVREuc7OsBrw2Gx?usp=sharing
  22. There might be ways.... it's like Japan wanting Yuzu involved in the bid for the Winter Olympics 2030. He being involved in a pro-competition can bring sponsors, but the organization, judging, etc, can be done by an impartial 3rd party (assisted by AI technology?). We have been dealing with a non-impartial party for years (AKA ISU), so I am sure that almost any option is better and fairer.
  23. The "retirement" discourse that came up from the language barrier was really annoying me after seeing Yuzu so carefully choosing his words to convey his RESOLUTION, to highlight that this is a new stage where he will continue challenging himself and he wants us to be excited. He also made a huge point to differentiate between pro-skater (taking it easy, or dedicating pro career to mostly artistry) and pro-athlete for a reason. So, I started collecting the different threads available on Twitter with translation of different interviews. I keep adding to the thread when I find something new. So, this could be if not your one stop to really get into what Yuzu really wanted to share with us, at least a good place to start. Within the thread, I HIGHLY recommend watching the videos of the interview of Yuzu with Shuzo-san and reading Tsukiyomi's translaiton of Yuzu's interview with Sport Hochi. for those on Twitter, and if you feel like it, I would really appreciate if you can help me spread these translations as there are many fans that are missing relevant information to understand Yuzu's motivation, the physical and emotional struggles, his huge commitment to fans, his intentions and plans, and what he expect from us. iIunderstand the anxiety for not knowing when we will see him on the ice again, but we will need to be patients. He has something in the making but knowing how speculations work, he won't tell us until the details are clearer. For now, let's deal with the wave of emotions, lets accept our longing, but let's also embrace hope. It's Yuzu, king of setting up goals and realizing them who is asking us to stay with him and being excited about this new stage. He wants to show us what he can do now and how much he can improve! https://twitter.com/pep_on_/status/1550143449558499328?s=20&t=9RgZxDRWm74NWRDXO4bN4w
  24. Well... I will say that YES, there is a plan in the work to do something to show Yuzu that we are here and we not only support him but actually expect great things from him in this new stage! (he himself asked for this from fans, so we will deliver). We will share info once we have the details and instructions.
  25. I don't know, I haven't seen any information about it. The Olympic channel would be the most likely one though
