  1. Hi Peeps I hope this is not offensive to anyone because it is not intended to be - it's just a statement of what i am thinking. I am Australian and we pretty much speak our minds - we get told that we are pretty blunt when we say stuff so please do not be offended because i do not know how other cultures might read this. I am wondering why there is a discussion at all about Yuzu's choice and Brian's comments.... From this side of the fence it's pretty simple. Yuzu does Yuzu. It is his life and his right to choose what he wants to do with it - whether it be staying in Sendai or going back to Toronto; trying to beat the quads out of Nathan or accepting a bronze and plodding along to earn 3 Olympic spots for his country. End of story. We are only fans. We have no rights with regard to the decisions made by The Overlord and no ability to influence the outcome. Our only job as Fanyus and Satellites is to have faith in Yuzuru Hanyu. Unquestionable faith. As in "I don't know what he is going to do but i am going to sit back, be patient and wait to find out". The Covenant of the unspoken agreement between Hanyu and Fanyu is "believe that the Purple Pants of Sin Wearer knows what he is doing and will make the best decision for himself". The only thing us Fanys can really influence is the way we cry, scream, yell, clap, cheer, laugh, love, support, throw Pooh-bears, create banners, invent another sexy name for for the next hormone-inducing pair of pants, create videos that pluck our feelings out of obscurity and thrust them into the face of everyone else feeling the same way, make funny gifs (and desperately avoid in-depth discussion on the topic of how absolutely HOT! and drop-dead sexily gorgeous this man is otherwise our ovaries might explode), etc etc.
  2. Is there a pecking order to Ice Shows? This is NOT a rhetorical question. I don’t know anything about these events and would appreciate someone who knows filling me in on the details so I can learn about figure skating ice shows and galas. Please leave me a comment with your wisdom Thank you in advance. Since I discovered Yuzuru Hanyu I have become aware of an event called Ice shows. Looking at them abstractly I wonder if there is some kind of hierarchy around who skates when, in which order and whether there are any “best positions” to skate in. I ask because these things lead me to believe there is a pecking order and that Yuzuru appears to be the king of the Ice Shows. Has this always been the case or is it just Yuzu being treated special in these shows?: 1. Yuzuru almost always is the last one to come out during the introduction or the finale 2. Yuzuru almost always is the skater spinning in the middle with everyone else making circles around him. 3. Yuzuru almost always is the head of the phalanx formation 4. Yuzuru almost always initiates the line of skaters to do the bows to the crowd and the musicians 5. Many times Yuzuru appears to wait until all the skaters leave the ice so that he is the last one to leave (and will often yell thank you to the crowd) 6. Yuzuru seems to be the one that skates the least amount of time in the show 7. It does not matter if Evgeny Pluschenko is in the group – Yuzuru still comes after the all-time legend of figure skating. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Why is this so? My understanding from what I have seen so far is that last place in the competition skaters are first to skate in the galas and the first place skaters are last. Why? If my guess is correct then In the Stockholm gala Yuzuru should have skated earlier in the event based on his placing. It appears the organisers may have re-arranged the order of skaters ….why? To give Yuzu a better position? If so, why? Random thoughts occur when I watch the shows such as: Wouldn’t the other skaters get jealous because Yuzu is always “featured” or in the spot light? You would think the other skaters would think they should have a turn at being the last one to skate or being the one featured in the middle. After the finale is over the skaters seem to hang around doing random “show-off” kind of things like jumps, hydro blades, shoma uno-like back bends, spins etc. If this is just random, why does it seem to happen at most events? Is this showing off thing part of the official program or just the skaters letting of steam? If you are able to shed any light on this kind of thing for me feel free to comment. I would love to know.
  3. I remember watching a video where Yuzu was nonchalantly doing a complicated spin whilst simultaneously taking his clothes off. He's quite a bit talented isn't he?
  4. I have seen Uchimura talk about Yuzu and realised he was a famous sports person in Japan but that is all i knew. Just reading the Wikipedia article for Uchimura: It's like reading the article for Yuzu - Multiple gold medalist, GOAT, best of the best, multiple world record holder, does difficult things, older than most, always challenging himself (and not bad to look at) No wonder Yuzu admires Uchimura. They are each other's Yin and Yang. I dare say that Yuzu sees so much of himself in Uchimura and relates to him thus as Uchimura is probably one of only a handful of people in the world that might "get" Yuzu.
  5. Yuzu is right - We do need lots of earphones. On my blog i have just shared my experience with a new set of earphones. Wow - What an experience!
  6. Hi Wyell Thanks for the great uploads. However, i am assuming the great quality can only be seen on 4K devices. Would that be right? (Only as i cannot see much difference on my LAptop - TV so i am wondering if i need to buy a new TV to see every exquisite detail of our Lord Yuzu....
  7. RIGHT! I THINK THAT SETTLES IT THEN! We have our answer. Yuzu can shake it. He has shaken it. We have proof that he can and does shake it to our satisfaction. I think we need to use this clip and send it out into the inter webs with a hashtag that Yuzu will see (or will be passed onto him by someone he knows), saying that Fanyus challenge Yuzu to incorporate this choreo for the next LMEY in front of a crowd.
  8. Oh no. You are not going to suck me down into this vortex. ‘I only became a Fanyu on 14th of Feb and since then my fave program has changed 20 times! I am still to watch them all so I will not cast my vote in stone until then. ‘however, my soft spots right now are Origin, Masquerade and Seimei. and PW. ‘And Chopin and Otonal and R&J .... OMG STOP IT! ‘
  9. Hmmm. I would be too self~conscious to demonstrate booty waggling (Because I have never done it before and I would look like an idiot)....(oh, hello! That is probably what Yuzu says when he skates to LMEY) but maybe I can get on board with this suggestion of getting Yuzu to hear our screams.... I am now ruminating on this thought.
  10. How about incorporating some of the fan art into the banner as background images? There are so many good photos to choose from and it is a hard choice. The LMEY image needs to have a cheeky grin i reckon. And H&E might be the glove in front of the face with an eye peeking out? Just a thought.
  11. I did not know it was a thing previously. I had only noticed it at JNATS. Need fixin though.
  12. Oh mi. I wish you to explain in a minutiae of exquisite detail about that kiss for those of us who were not there. But we do not have time. Nessie is coming, so back to fixing this issue. So, how do we encourage him to expand the repertoire? Maybe we ask him to copy some of Plu’s moves from Sex Bomb.
  13. Ok@Figure_frenzy, so the steppage needs upgrading there. We get Shae-Lynn on board then for a couple of side-to-side steps with some deep edges perhaps? Next thought?
  14. Ok Satellites, New topic of conversation: ”shake your ass” in LMEY It is a travesty. A shame even that Yuzu is not aware of how to properly shake his ass. I thought I may have been wrong but I just revisited some old programmes to see if there was any real, actual Ass Shakage: PW could have been a chance to thoroughly shake it but it is obvious Yuzu was way too young to have any kind of experience in that area. The nice feels in PW were just play acting. (Lordy though, if Yuzu did a 2021 version of PW and loaded on the charm (real or imagined) I think I would die!) LGC is the next most obvious example of the potential to shake the appropriate bodily area. Whilst there was a definite maturity from PW TO LGC I think the focus here was more on the boy’s fun of air guitar than making girls go crazy So that brings us back to LMEY (Because I just cannot see any potential in a Samurai shaking his ass on the battlefield ... unless he was stuck quite pointily with a Katana). What are we Fanyus going to do about this? Don’t we have a real obligation to point out to our Ice Prince that there is a need for Ganbatte in LMEY? Surely he cannot complete Nessie and retire without leaving this issue unresolved? If so, how do we suggest a way to gain said ass shaking skills? It’s no good to say “fix your lack of ass shakage” but not provide suggestions on how to train for this. So, what say you? EDIT; I have just seen a hip roll with fingers through the hair action in Vertigo. I think this could be the savior of LMEY. If Yuzu could re-watch Vertigo and get the hip roll we might be cooking with gas.
  15. HI Satellites. We seem to be seeing some Fanyus that are out of this universe on Twitter recently. Seems most of us are letting that float by as the space junk that it is. (it is easier for sure). ‘I just want to leave this Twitter post here for anybody who might find it useful in future, whether to read themselves out of interest or to retweet as a message to those who may need it. Message to Fanyus Fanyus: Please read about Honne & Tatemae, Uchi & Soto. Then think about the situations Yuzu faces. Ask ‘as a Fanyu, how do I contribute to or take Face from Yuzu?” https://doyouknowjapan.com/culture/
  16. Hi Everyone. Wondrring if you know of any Subs for this video?: Thanks
  17. This looks like a great conversation Would love to see if there is a translation. Cheers. Thank you.
  18. ok, as a newb, please tell me what's the protocol or rules around why people get to choose or not get to choose where they compete? And is any competition better than some other one for some reason? I think i get the idea that the comps are by invitation only but i don't understand what the criteria are and why some get to choose and some don't. And what is the value of a particular comp that someone might not choose it if they were offered it? Sorry for being a newb Cheers
  19. Yuzu has changed me as a person for the better. Because of Yuzu: I have become a hermit, not speaking to family and friends over the last 42 days whislt i watched every single performance i could find and every interview subbed in English (and some that were not) I have gained motivation from Yuzu to give up smoking. Every time I want a smoke I think to myself; if Yuzu can mentally strengthen himself to do all that he does then surely it will not be hard for me to do this one simple thing I have decided to learn Japanese so I can go to Japan one day and immerse myself in the experience I am starting to look at local communities that need help and trying to figure out which ones i can make a difference in I started reading today about Japanese culture and have found it very interesting, I am going to study more of it in future I kind of now understand why Yuzu gives the answers he does in interviews, and i am about to write something about it to satellites I learnt of the existence of our translators and am for ever greatful that you all volunteer your time. Without you I would understand nothing. I have started to think about how to change the way I interact with people to make more pleasant experiences, I want to be a fun person like Yuzu and Nobu I learnt how to use Tumbler, google translate, Twitter, Instagram, chrome translator, video download era and Planet Hanyu I have felt part of a new family in this Planet I participated in Pooh-rain and it felt so good I have a new love of my life and I will follow Yuzu always
  20. Fine with me ‘If this is what Yuzu is aiming for then I am behind him 100%. Medals, schmedals! Ahh, Yuzu has so many now he probably has nowhere to store them all (or the watches). And that reminds me... is his house big enough to store all the costumes, gloves, belts, training clothes and international uniforms? Surely he must have run out of room by now? Anyway, back to the point - I cannot wait to see what Nessie looks like. So, if Yuzu does not medal in future, I certainly don’t care... he has achieved it all and we have seen that. I ‘cannot wait to see what Yuzu does next. And for the record, I think another career choice could be training international sports media on how to ask the right bloody questions!
  21. i have been ruminating a bit today.... Whilst we know that Yuzu puts 100% into everything he does I realised that he has not specifically stated at any time since he got to this event that he was out to win. In fact, he deflected everytime when asked about his goals for this comp. Yuzu only stated that he was here to win Oly placements and get home safely. Yuzu said that "stuff" was going on back home in the lead up (apart from the earthquake) and I wonder if he knew that that "stuff" was going to affect his performance and that was why he was so noncomittal when answering questions?
