  1. Hello, is there anything new in this article https://www.nikkansports.com/m/sports/news/amp/201711120000175.html
  2. Think of this on the bright side: - No GPF, less hype, less pressure into Olympic - Less pressure on his injury, more time to heal - Yuzuru will be fired up for National or 4CC (if he will attend either) and he will do well to win the Olympic too. - No NHK, no GPF... he delays his peak for National (or 4CC) and Olympics. This is what I am trying to tell myself these days.
  3. Hello... is there anything new in this https://the-ans.jp/news/12643/ thank you in advance
  4. Well not competing at NHK and GPF means he will peak later at National and Olympic. Think of it that way.
  5. He has learned. I think he will be alright. All those bad things repeated for a reason. He finally learned that he has to be healthy to win. That means a lot. I think WD from NHK was a correct choice. Who knows maybe he will recover fast and land all 5 quads in the free as he wants.
  6. Is there anything new here https://t.co/mNRc5yV12t
  7. I hope we get an update of Yuzuru’s condition soon. The sooner the better! Anyway, if he aims for National I am not worried, because National is in Saitama. That place will always give him gold.
  8. @gladi has just finished a new translation about Yuzuru’s WD at NHK. https://wherespacepooh.tumblr.com/post/167366810544/article-yuzuru-hanyus-injury-withdrawal-from/amp
  9. Well he doesn’t compete and he will not be there so they take the banner down. I don’t see much issue with this. Those banners were for him to read in the first place. now it would be funny if they suddenly allow fans to use banner at GPF. But I guess not because they already issued the rule about no banner at GPF Nagoya. Anyone tell me how many seats GPF Nagoya has?
  10. I think the injury in right ankle will affect both Lutz and Loop. But maybe it’s just not a serious injury so he can soon land both quads after several weeks. We should hope for the best.
  11. Yeah, so far the only comment from his coach Briand is that his injury isn’t too serious. I hope it means he will heal very fast. Maybe the doctor told the team that, then who are we to say his injury is worse. It’s irresponsible.
  12. Historically... the chance of landing all the most difficult quads in the Olympic is not high. I don’t rule out that all the guys can. Maybe that person will be Yuzuru, who skates clean 7 quads in total (yay). But from my experience, it’s very tough. Maybe Plushenko wasn’t joking when he gave the interview to NBC Olympic. I think Yuzuru will still do 4lo at the Olympic. But just saying what if his injury wouldn’t heal that fast. We don’t know if he can heal in time to do all 5 quads as he wants. With the danger goes along, for now 4lz might be out. 4lo... Well he hasn’t landed any clean 4lo in competition this season either. So yes I would be glad to see 4lo back but I wouldn’t be shocked if his condition wouldn’t allow him that. He might heal well to do both 4lz and 4lo, or he might heal ok to do 4lo. Or he might end up with only 4S and 4T, who knows. I wouldn’t freak out if he comes back to Seimei 1.0 We all hope for his full recovery, but we as his fans, and of course his coaching team, also have to be realistic. Let’s pray that he has a fast recovery. But in all of these possibilities, I can still see a high chance for him to win. All he needs is to believe in his training, his mentality and find the balance.
  13. Just saying it might be one of the possibilities. For example 1994, Urmanov won by simplifying the layout. He turned 4T into 3T. 1998, Kulik won by simplifying his programs 2002, Yagudin won also by simplifying his layout 2006, Plushenko simplified his layout 2010, Evan simplified his layout 2014, Yuzuru won not because of his BV, he scored the same with Patrick in the free (because both were messy), he won because his SP was cleaner (and, in a way, not doing 4T3T but 3lz3T for SP instead is also simplifying the layout). 2018????? So yeap... IF (just IF, because I don’t know the true context) Plushenko intentionally told NBC that Yuzuru only need 4T and 4S, he might have a point. Of course I still expect Yuzuru to do all the quads he can if he recovers fast in time, because he wants that. Challenging is what he is. And of course, I don’t rule out the % that Yuzuru will skate clean his 5 quads layout at the Olympic. So... fingers crossed.
  14. Frankly there is no certainty that other skaters will land the difficult quads cleanly at Olympic either. Just saying Olympic is a very different an difficult beast. People who haven’t experienced it for years don’t get how it’s going. And this might sound ironic but maybe this time Plushenko’s comments towards NBC might turn out to be true (again) that 4T and 4S are enough for Yuzuru to win Olympic again. I am just saying... of course I hope to see he gets back all his quads cleanly but... there are still some possibilities in which lesser layout actually helps. So I don’t rule out the possibility that Yuzuru will go back to his previous layout and wins Olympic. And it would be ironic for all what happened... all those quads and we come back to 4T and 4S because... that’s the Olympic. Just I am being funny, don’t take it too seriously. I am sure as long as Yuzuru is healthy he will do all the quads he can.
  15. I was reading Jackie Wong’s article about Yuzuru’s injury and that the pain in the right leg might affect his Loop and Lutz and Flip. I think there will be no issue with his Flip since it’s a triple anyway. The 4Lo and 4Lz might be in trouble if his right leg wouldn’t heal in time for him to start practicing them again. I think at this rate he will have to ditch the 4lz, not enough time to stabilize it. Hopefully he will get back his 4lo soon.
  16. Yes I remember about the part that his injury is not serious but I am not sure it’s light. Hopefully JSF give out some updates soon.
  17. Ok so anyone keeps me up... my friend said Briand said Yuzuru could still jump and do things but they WD because he’s hurt? I am not sure where my friend read that. Thanks
  18. Sorry, who said he is in Sendai right now? Do we know when will he come back to Toronto? Thank you in advance.
  19. Ok, since I was out of the loop for a while, do you mind telling me if there is any serious update about his injury, how much time he needs to recover? thank you in advance.
  20. Quads mean higher PCS. That is for sure. Judges would think without quads, skaters can easily add more transitions. This is what’s wrong with the judging. They pretend that quadters can do beautiful transitions if they don’t have to do quads. The reality isn’t that easy.
  21. Yeah, all kind of jumps, especially quads... will have some effects for the long run when the skaters retire. Even Kwan only did triples and she still had pain now and then years after her competitive days. Skating and especially jumping has a lot to do with controlling your bodies. If your body keeps changing it’s a challenge to get used to it. So hopefully with better technology and approach, coaches and specialists will help skaters to improve their chance after puberty.
  22. No one knows really... what is the best for each skater? Skaters are human and each human js different. They have different bodies, mentality and all. i would say it’s best to change coach when you have reached everything you can reach at the current place. But it’s my opinion and I am not the skater themselves. With musicians, it’s the same I think. Hilary Hahn changed to her second professor when her first teacher thought she taught her everything she could already.
  23. The thing with jumps in skating is their body changing.... how to cope up with new body and all as these skaters are all growing up. I have to say, Yuzuru was kinda lucky that his body didn’t go into some drastic change in a short time like some skaters had to experience (look at Nam). So yes... it’s amazing they’re doing the quads now (look at 2 wonder babies at Eteri’s group who are jumping quads), but hopefully their coaches will help them keep it healthy with clean technique when they’re older, taller and bigger.
