  1. Exactly this. Most Russian men I have mentioned are not tiny, and the old style of jumping is that they jump very high with less speed in the rotation.
  2. I have just known the tech panel at CoC will judge men event at the Olympic. I am not sure I am ready for all of this. I do hope they will change this but who am I to hope for a fair chance.
  3. Thank you so much for all this hard work. If only we could show the judges all of this...
  4. That is the old style of Russian's way of jumping (especially the men), go back to Plushenko, Kulik, Gachinski, Menshov, Voronov... they jumped very high and technically the way they unwrap their free legs are very much alike.
  5. Kolyada's lutz (and jumps in general) are very high but not as long - > many Russian skaters are like this, they jump high but the ice coverage might not be as big as some other skaters. Kolyada;s jumps are still pretty big IMO. I would say Zhenia Medvedevea jumps are long, even though not high. At CoR, I notice that her 3-3 have quite good ice coverage. So it depends on the skaters as well. Yuzuru's jumps are both high and long. So his jumps might not be the highest but they will be longer than the higher jumps, his jumps cover more ice than most men.
  6. Brian Joubert was copying Yagudin for a while (not so much later on) so you get where Tat's love for him.
  7. It is interesting that Yuzuru's last rotation is on the air longer. But maybe different videos have different frame rates. Hopefully, they will both jump perfect 4lz in one competition soon so we can have a better comparison.
  8. I am not sure why people are afraid that Plushenko would jinx Yuzuru. He could have played diplomatic game with NBC and said there are big chances for the Americans but he didn’t say that. I think Yuzuru also feels much more confident once he knows his idol picks him over others.
  9. My friend who plays Chopin Ballade 1 so often thinks they cut the music quite well. Personally this is not my favorite piece (never been a fan of Chopin) but yes I love the dreamy feeling of it. And at CoR even though he messed the jumps, the performance was still outstanding.
  10. The issue with choreography for classical music is that the choreographer and the skater most of the time have no idea what they’re creating programs to. Carmen is easy, there is a story to it, just follow. Madame Butterfly, Turandot, Tosca... the same... BUT... most of the time I see that the skaters don’t bother to watch or to read about the stories at all it seems. Like literally how can you smile during Madame Butterfly’s saddest aria? Or if you’re the princess in Turandot you’re not supposed to smile, you’re supposed to be a cold beauty that kill people at the drop of a hat. And then let’s not talk about the absolute music like Rachmaninov piano concerto no 2. Or Tchaikovsky Piano concerto no 1... it’s so difficult to create an image from those things, but that’s why it’s opened to all skaters to choose. personally I think skating to a program without story is the hardest, for example Yuzuru’s Chopin, there is no image, no story, no lyrics to follow. All you can do is feel. Seimei is easier to connect to, it has a theme, a story and a character but the technical content is crazy. So it’s still a huge challenge.
  11. I present to you, Plushy's jumps were not that pure technique so... maybe people should not hang up on Plushy's comments about the best technician... here was his Lutz, full blade take off Here is his Flip, full blade take off too here was his 4T
  12. Yeap, I have been saying this... I was secretly scared for Aliona and Bruno before their FS at SC, I was like: "But if they won this, maybe it's jinxing...." so yeah... Sorry D/R, but I feel that Aliona and Bruno will place higher than them at the Olympic. It's just my feelings.
  13. The delayed rotation Yuzuru has in the 4lz was obvious in the real time. It gave the feeling of "hanging in the air". If you watch them in slow motion you see that: When Yuzuru was at the Zeo degree, his whole body was on the air already. At the same time, Nathan already rotated his body up to 90 degrees. There is nothing wrong with what Nathan does with his Lutz, just what Yuzuru does with the 4lz is insane. Why you point the toe pick OUTWARDS in a lutz? He is so extra.
  14. The costume looks amazing in real life... it's glittering and so majestic...
  15. My biggest question is how they keep all those crystals stick to the costume... those jumps are high speed...
  16. And it’s from a Japanese media. Now I don’t feel like hating on Western media much more.
  17. Yeap. What you have done is amazing. I wish I had enough courage to count all those moves but I am afraid I might flip the table (and get angry so...)
  18. Well they do have legit reasons for it, if the judging takes forever, no one on television will wait for it and it will be a mess for live broadcast. And if there were appeals... the podium might chance and a whole lot of issues will come along. ISU do not want appeals mostly to avoid those issues. BUT, if a call is wrong, they should get criticism even though the results might not be changed. I think ISU should have a box to receive feedback about questionable calls. We are all human, it is not a new thing for the specialists to make mistakes, but they SHOULD get positive feedbacks, as well as ACCEPT positive feedbacks.
  19. It's not fake, it's just incorrect sometimes and unfair sometimes (well many times, take Skate Canada this year for example). And no, people can not question tech specialists about the edge and UR calls. It is stated in the rule they're not allowed to question it.
  20. Yeap. Agree with you 100%. They’re not as harsh as I can do lol. For example I would say they spared some jumps at SC while I would immediately give out < or << if they want to be harsh, it’s ok, but be fair please. It’s just so annoying when they spare their favorites. Honestly had they been easy on everyone I wouldn’t be this mad. They’re just easy on several chosen ones.
  21. Yes, it’s not like I want them to be lenient on Yuzuru or anything. And it’s not like I want them to be easier on the ladies at Skate Kaenada (lol I like his new nick name), the biggest issue is they don’t apply the same standards for everyone. Like ok you want to be harsh on the ladies, why spare Kaetlyn only? Because if it were me being the specialist, the scores might go down even further. Just please apply it on everyone.
  22. Yuzuru gets no benefits of doubt unlike other skaters whom I am tired of naming them. If I want to bash them, easy, I make a list of their landings in slow motion and most of the time they get away. If these tech specialists are here they might get some serious questions from me to be honest. The only way for Yuzuru is to skate and land as perfect as he can. There is no other ways. He is judged by some different standards.
  23. It’s the slow motion of Yuzuru’s 4lo in SP. It was fully rotated no matter how many times I rewatched it on tivi. Same impression I had in competition. In reality it’s quite easier to see which jumps are UR. And frankly many ladies UR or borderline their 3-3 but didn’t get called. I saw their hooked marks on the ice clearly.
  24. I was there I am assure you, Yuzuru’s Loop in the SP was fully rotated. Max Ambessi was correct. i am the kind who is obsessed with UR and wrong edge, so it’s not that easy to fool me. @Joey was there and we both agreed the calls for Yuzuru was too harsh, but anyway it’s ok. It’s not like we wanted Yuzuru to win his first GP no matter what. This results only make him work harder and more motivated. I am quite upset by the tech panel at Skate Kaenada this season to be honest (lol they changed their name from Skate Chanada to Skate Kaenada this time), they gave out some very strict calls for some skaters and ignored some calls for some skaters. It’s utterly ridiculous to see all the ladies bare one got calls. Same thing in men, some calls were too lenient but the ladies were the worst.
