Yuzu is on the IFS magazine cover!!
-
I think so! Can’t read the Japanese text but it says 2017 so it seems to be from that year haha
-
Our Yuzu, always so hardworking... I wonder what does "he hasn't landed it well yet, but has landed it on one foot" mean though...
-
Haha, a toe waltz is kind of like a failed toeloop, like I end up pre-rotating halfway and taking off forwards, so it ends up like a waltz jump that takes off on the toepick, therefore people call it a toe waltz haha and it's very bad technique T_T But thank you!! I really need to have some courage and fix my technique instead of just avoiding that jump all the time I do find it scary when I attempt the do it correctly but hopefully I'll fix it!! Thanks for the encouragement hehe :3 And woah it's so cool that you took lessons on quad skates!! Maybe next time I'll try it too if I get the chance!
-
Why though?
-
Well, quite often if you want great achievements you have to take great risks, I guess for those 4A attempts, for him at that time the desire to land the jump outweighed the fear...
-
His Youtube is so adorable!! It’s so nice to see him liking fans’ comments on his first video too 🥰
-
Amazing video from Nike - Nathan Chen appears for a bit towards the end of the video. He was only there for a second but still nice to see figure skating being represented!
-
That would be helpful!! Thank you in advance Hmm, I only had them on for like an hour and I found it hard to do even things like forward crossovers, let alone spins and jumps. Also I have no idea how people spin on quad skates, because... where is the rocker? But then again it depends! I know a girl who is a more advanced skater than I am and struggled to use inline skates initially, while another guy who isn’t as advanced as she is who had no problem at all adapting to inline skates so... No idea haha And yes, my biggest fear for skating outdoors is tripping over some stray pebble while I’m preparing for a jump or something!!
-
That would be the biggest quarantine FS drama XD
-
Omg how did you do it? And I only ever tried quad skates once in my life... they feel really different from inlines and ice IMO! Haha and yes they are so shiny!! But can you jump and all in those though? I... don’t clean them... please don’t judge me
-
Hmm, but why lie?
-
Wow, that's amazing! I can never do a toeloop, mine always ends up as a toe waltz T__T Yeah spins are definitely the hardest thing to do on inline skates! But seeing all these amazing skaters doing spins gives me hope... As for the wear and tear issue I think it will be a problem with every brand though! Especially when you spin and the rubber toepick is rubbing against the concrete ground it will surely get higher over time I heard for the pic skate you can try to rotate it such that the worn down surface will face upwards instead and you can have another surface facing towards the ground? And then eventually when it's become too small I guess there's no choice but to replace it...

some pics 🥰

Not sure how true everything here is but might be useful if anyone is interested to buy frames!!

Apparently there will be a documentary about Sasha airing on august 4 If the google translate is correct hehe
-
Can’t read this but Ajinomoto posted about Yuzu again!
-
I don’t know if I can call my jumps “jumps” because it’s more like tiny hops where I barely leave the ice 🙈🙈🙈 I feel you, I’m really scared of jumping too haha Have you tried a waltz jump and bunny hop? When will your rink open?
-
I’ve been skating about 3-4 years-ish on and off? And to be honest with you I can’t really backspin properly haha 🙈 Oh no, do you want to check with your doctor just in case it’s a medical issue?
-
Hmm I guess it does makes sense that having the toepick lower would help!! And I tried snow white before, I personally think it’s even harder to spin in than pic skates? Or maybe it’s just me because these Taiwanese skaters seem to have no problem at all: She makes it looks so easy?? I don’t know how? (Also check out the Origin ending pose XD) And I can’t say I can spin in rollerblades either, the best I can do is like 2-3 revolutions of an upright spin... But regardless of whether there are rink closures or not I feel like rollerblades are useful to have for skaters!! Like it saves money because it’s costly having to pay to use the ice every single time you want to practise

Everything about Yuzu is just so symbolic and poetic. I found the violin move in Origin kind of a reference to his name as well. Feathers also symbolize him. In one of the interviews he did last season (can't remember which one) he mentioned that the fire burning inside him is a blue flame - a reference to the name of his autobiography. Fire also happens to be the element of Sagittarius - Yuzu's star sign. I remember on Weibo, there was some post asking people if there was any man's name that automatically suggests that the owner of the name must be a handsome man. Many Fanyus replied saying Yuzuru Hanyu - such a beautiful name. Some even said they didn't actually know anything about Yuzu and only searched him up because they got curious what kind of man would have such a beautiful name - and were of course happy to learn that the owner of this name certainly lives up to it!
-
Hehe, I guess having the exact same spinner as Yuzu should serve as pretty good motivation to use the spinner And I agree with you, somehow backspins are easier! I think I read online quite a few people feel this way too For me, ranking from easiest to hardest to spin would be: spinner>ice>>>rollerblades
-
Hmm, I would translate it to "I hope that through this book, all of you can feel the things you want to treasure/cherish, or it can become an opportunity to think about certain things" Not so much different from yours so I think it's about there!

Those pics are all lovely!! And quite a few I've never seen before too hehe thank you so much @Kestrelz !!
