Those newcomers either get eyes and keep them open and judge for themselves who is better - or we shouldn’t worry about them. I am ok with anyone preferring Nathan to Yuzu, honestly. A

Having had to pull through two bad pneumonias, I am not exactly that eager to go either...

Is it only me chuckling at the fact that the way they phrased it makes his Junior GPF and Junior Worlds Golds his greatest achievements?

While I wouldn’t go as far as ban any mention of the awards here, I certainly wouldn’t take it seriously. Have fun and mock them, whatever the result, folks, but don’t give them what they want - which is clicks and attention.
-
Guys, please, don’t be naive, the whole Award circus was set up to gain back the North American markets, not reward some real achievements, so what did you expect? Just ignore it. Nothing can diminish Yuzuru Hanyu and his achievements.

I think we ought to have some trust issues there

Now what do we do if there are no competitions until 2021? Any ideas? -
Wow, what beauties! Japan, you’re the envy of the whole planet!

Have all the skater build their own individual skating rinks to quarantine in and let them spend two weeks after travelling to JGP events there. oh, and provide every single skater at the event with their own skating rink too. this is just mental. -
No, but Morisi and Egadze are technically foreign. They are older than Samsonov.

[TW] Sexual Abuse & Misconduct in Figure Skating
Fay replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Actually, it would leave the same aftertaste with me even if they only chose to speak of adult skaters. This sort of “humour” just puts me off - ok, there are certain contexts where it would be ok-ish, but to see this on television about a fellow skater - or any other athlete, come to that, - is just so much wtf. I won’t be sorry for them to leave commentating behind. Both come across as narcissistic beings, really. -
That was expected. Buyanova sheltered Medvedeva before. Now with Erokhov leaving Tutberidze, it looks as if the oldest Russian man Tutberidze has at the moment is... Samsonov.

Meanwhile Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski took part in a vulgar spoof making dirty jokes about Bradie Tennell. I always thought they weren’t really smart, but this is downright stupid -
Hmmm, this seems to be about the exhibition - what’s he saying?

Does that put paid to the JGP series? Or will they scramble to find yet another European/Central Asian harbour? -
He got injured. And re-injured. And reinjured. I was wondering why he stuck with Eteri since she isn’t exactly your ideal coach when you have to deal with injuries.
-
I was expecting him to quit, really.... how long is it since you heard about him?

Stephen Gogolev was photographed with a man who takes care of Nathan Chen boots quite a while ago, so I suppose he’s in the US.

In Philip Hersh interview with Jason Brown, Tracy has confirmed Yuzu is not in Canada, so ergo, he’s been in Japan all this while. Hope he isn’t hounded there.

well, you're either ultra-light and keep your weight under a certain limit (which is feasible while you're an adolescent mostly) or you get more muscly to lift off your 'average' sort of weight. Good technique comes in handy too. The ability to jump off great speed and momentum - something genuine Eteri students haven't been very good at. I've just watched a few Kaori videos to heal my eyes after the famous Anna Shcherbakova free skate at Skate America. I don't understand how Anna jumps and I also don't understand her GOE. But Kaori's running edge and speed is just remedy for hurting eyes. Ended up watching her skates compulsively. I don't care if she popped now and again - she's just such a pleasure to see glide over the ice. There.

Men and women are very different in their development, though. Basically, puberty changes women's proportions and muscle/fat ratio, they rotate more slowly, they have to have bigger jumps, so that's why getting stronger technically after puberty is much harder than before. Plus the psychology also plays its tricks here - women tend to be more cautious after puberty. With men, they just get stronger with puberty, they gain in muscle and strength, so jumping with more power is possible for them. So gaining new jumps for men is sorta usual, for women it's a breakthrough. That said, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva has done it, but she's a born jumper - she's powerful, explosive and has got strong legs. Her technique on any jump is going to be stronger than with Zhenya.
