To be honest, after his apology I’d give Nathan the benefit of the doubt, even though his apology sounded painfully rehearsed and not sincere. He might have been just thoughtless in what he blurted out to that pretty innocuous question. But he surely has to learn to be accountable for what he says in any public appearance. The fact it felt like a conversation between friends is no excuse for the word salad he produced which sounded like something pretty homophobic and bigoted. That said, I watch Russian Nathan Chen fans with a gleeful fascination. First they proved to themselves their idol said nothing wrong, then they had to swallow the fact he apologised for having said nothing wrong. Some of them are busy lashing out on vile Fanyus. Not so many Fanyus bother to engage, though - they’d rather listen to the soothing voice of Yuzu night tales about Sekkisei.

It was written by his agency. And it was his agency that had the video removed pronto after Fanyus found that “slip up”.

I am quite amused by seeing some people turn the whole debacle into Fanyus’ fault.

I can think of dozens of ways to answer that silly question in such a way that you emerge as a very intelligent person. But no, of course, it’s the question that was to blame, not the person who comes up with a rubbish answer.

Because everyone else who can speak other languages do their own translations into English, why can’t you? If I follow your own line of behaviour, I can write in Russian or Tatar, let the other do the translation of what I have to say. Others can speak other languages.It would be actually rude. We can do with google translate, but I don’t think it’s of you to make all the others make a google translate of what you write. So last warning it was. I either hide your comments or take them to a French thread. Or you use an automatic translator. Please.
