I'm a little surprised he mentioned the 4F in an interview. Seems like the sort of thing he would do to just casually put it in his PPC one day and watch us all lose our minds trying to figure out if it was a typo or not. As for costuming - either dark red or black. Or I riot. (Who am I kidding. In Satomi we trust. He'll look great.)

4F??? I was mentally prepared for talk of a 4A. Not a 4F.

So Shae-Lynn helped with the SP, too? Has that ever happened before?

Ah, so his plans to keep his programs secret until the last minute were foiled again? Interesting choice. I wonder how it fits with "something only he can do." Will be looking forward to seeing it, whenever that may be!

No offense, but we've had so many rumors... what's your source?

Go to your settings and then the page for "ignored users." Put the username you want to ignore in the box that pops up.

Hopefully he's just learned to be careful with that ankle and it's not too bad this time. Rest up and get well soon, Yuzu. We're with you no matter what.

I cannot deal with this level of anxiety this early in the morning. I mean, we all knew he was going to put it in a competitive program eventually, but still.

Are those pajama pants? My first thought was scrub pants because of the color but the cut is all wrong and there's no drawstring. (And also why would Yuzu have scrubs?) Or has Yuzu started getting fancier with his off-ice sartorial choices - we wouldn't be fashion twins with all-black sweats/long sleeve shirt combos if we were on the same flight again?

[TW] Sexual Abuse & Misconduct in Figure Skating
Dalilah Sappenfield has been temporarily restricted by SafeSport, including travel/lodging, coaching/training, contact/communication limitations, and a no contact order. “Cases involving allegations that are so severe that Temporary Restrictions are necessary to mitigate potential risk to others in the sport community (e.g., allegations of child sexual abuse regarding a coach with current/ongoing access to minor athletes)” Yikes.

You know he won’t be wiggling anything if LMEY is anything to go by… (Sorry Yuzu, the commitment to that particular bit of choreography was not what it could have been…)

Costumes talk
Yuzu always changes his costume if he keeps the same music. IMO, the excitement and speculation over what he's going to wear is part of the fun of being a Hanyu fan. I can't imagine fans of some of the other men's skaters have the same experience. I've given up on trying to predict what the changes will be after Origin - I remember saying at ACI 2019 that there was no way for Yuzu and Satomi to improve on perfection for Origin 2.0. Yuzu immediately proved me wrong when he took off his jacket for the 6 minute warmup.

Teams have to use the same skaters for team and individual unless they're an "incomplete team" meaning they've qualified for the team event but don't have a skater/couple qualified for the individual event in question at all. So unfortunately, on each team that makes the free skate, one of their men's skaters is going into the individual event at a disadvantage.

That is such a bad schedule for the men. I can't imagine any team will be putting an individual medal contender in the men's free. (Which raises the question of what Japan will do - their entire team is capable of medaling. Hopefully JSF doesn't protect their favorites and make their not-favorite go back-to-back...) Also, why not flip the individual men's and pairs events? That way nobody's competing on consecutive days.

Oh, Planet Hanyu is full of nerds. We've done the math - many judges show statistically significant bias towards skaters of their nationality. Judge Bias Review

Colorado Springs is one of the nerve centers for US figure skating and it’s very conservative. Not too surprising they’re willing to try to capture that demographic. Interestingly, my “conservative bible-belt type” American father watched the men’s FS at worlds this year. Keegan was his favorite, mostly because of his music, but when I told him about his baby on the way and helping raise his brother’s kids he was definitely a fan. Even not knowing anything about skating, he could tell Yuzu was a very good skater having a very bad day. And he wasn’t that impressed with Nathan - he said the jumps were impressive but there was just nothing else there until the end.

Okay, good, I wasn't the only person who just thought "well, the floor's probably pretty sturdy, right?"

Oh, I know! I was a tiny, skinny kid who swam semi-seriously. I made the cutoff to qualify for the state championships a few times... even though I needed the help of a kickboard or pull buoy for some drills where I just didn't float well enough to not use one, when my teammates would get along fine without one. (Also, are you a backstroke person? It was always my favorite and I never quite got why all my friends hated it.) I suspect if Yuzu wanted to, he'd be quite capable of learning to swim well, especially with how strong his legs are. But until he learned the proper technique, he wouldn't have much natural buoyancy to help him out.

I actually don't think it's all that surprising that he can't take a breath during the breaststroke without standing on the bottom of the pool. His body fat percentage is so low, I'd imagine he just sinks like a rock, especially with how high a beginner usually wants to pick their head up to breathe.

Huh, I thought he couldn’t swim! I think I speak for all of the former competitive swimmers on here when I say if he ever wants to get faster… we’d all be happy to help.
