Honestly, I will believe it when I see it. Given the impact of the "news", medias could not do other way than announcing it. Its selling matter. If the program change happens to be true, I have to say I will be really disappointed. I know Yuzu wants to win, and that it may be part of a big strategy, but seriously ? Chopin again ?? This program is already iconic, and has been skated to the fullest multiple times. And I can't imagine the amount of criticism he's going to get for this. I'm afraid it will feed the retirement narrative. As much as I love Seimei, Origin had the potential to be an epic program. If the results weren't there, he could also water down the content, the transitions and all. I don't think his scores would have particularly dropped. I will always support Yuzuru, and I'm eagerly waiting to hear from him...

But do we really think that Yuzu would be the one taking the "easy road" because of two silvers ? After all the work he has done with Otonal and Origin for one year and a half ? He has other concerns right now than reworking old programs to make them fit the new rules.

[TW] Sexual Abuse & Misconduct in Figure Skating
Pika replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Here's a little summary of all that's been coming out and hasn't been mentioned yet (sorry if I'm mistaken): Gailhaguet still plays offended and wanted to go to the Minister with his attorney but he was not allowed. A renowned French coach (Didier Lucine) accuses DG of taking revenge on him after he tried to report Beyer's act 20 years ago. Since then, his club notoriously crashed, the federation cut money, and he openly says that they intentionally buried his skaters. Parisian Prosecutor's Office is studying the possibility of opening a new case. In fact, the period during which you can report children rapes is 30 years, but starting at the majority, which means Sarah Abitbol being 44 years old don't fall under the prescription law. This changes LOT of things, and does not smell good for FFSG. Gwendal Peizerat took a strong position. He tried to face Gailhaguet at the last elections for the head of the FFSG but was unsuccessful. In a few words, he clearly explains that every person involved is close to him, and that he's clearly protecting all his little friends. He also explains the manipulative character DG is, saying that every time he's aware of something, he just keeps it to serve his own interests, and dismiss somebody who could become problematic for him for example. He also speaks about all the non-physical violence, ie. the psychological pressure put on the children, and this in lot of others sports that don't have media exposure such as curling (part of the FFSG). Also Beyer was dismissed from all his functions by the club. Abitbol answered to his """"apologies"""" saying she would never accept them, but that it's a first step. The old Sports minister who was in charge when the inquiry against Beyer happened asks to fire Gailhaguet and take the most serious punishment against FFSG.- 298 replies

[TW] Sexual Abuse & Misconduct in Figure Skating
Pika replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
It all started from here : https://www.nouvelobs.com/societe/20200129.OBS24079/sarah-abitbol-temoigne-j-ai-ete-violee-par-mon-entraineur-a-15-ans.html The Minister's take : http://www.leparisien.fr/sports/accusations-de-viols-la-ministre-convoque-le-president-de-la-federation-des-sports-de-glace-29-01-2020-8247948.php?utm_campaign=facebook_partage&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR0qZZFdfQZwRJrO0LHQkPxTaepZ-pxbEVPg68YrNl6wofPHxykXkd2CnB8 -
[TW] Sexual Abuse & Misconduct in Figure Skating
Pika replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
That's what I thought in the first place, that DG was in serious trouble. But after hearing what the Minister said this morning on the radio, I'm not holding my hopes too high. She sounds way too "soft" to take exemplary punishment. Also it wasn't mentioned but Sarah Abitbol is publishing a book about the abuses she suffered. Her testimony is making some real noise and she's headlining some big papers today. I heard her interview this morning and I almost cried. It puts in perspective everything in her career, starting with the injury just before the Olympics SP. She said herself that "her body responded". She also mentions how she was reduced to silence when she called the Sports minister when she was able to talk about it after her career but was told they wouldn't do anything "but they could help her regarding her shows and her promotion"... -
Lauriault/Le Gac stated on their facebook page that they are preparing for the Bavarian Open, and try to earn a spot for Montreal Worlds. So the 3 couples will fight again for the 2nd spot ? I wonder what's the FFSG plan. Run a test before worlds ? I just hope they won't compare the results of the 3 teams at different competitions to decide, as it seems to be implied

Dr de Mondenard who studies various doping cases in sport took Lecavelier's defense in a recent blog post. Sorry, it's in french. He puts in perspective what the general press seems to have forgotten: the previous cocaine cases in sport with Gasquet and Tyson, and the fact that it's the easiest drug to find in controls (hence no athlete would be stupid enough to take that before competition).
-
But we are not talking about doping. Cocaïne destroys you at best.

What will be Yuzuru Hanyu's EX program for 4CC 2020?

OMG imagine Yuzu blades ASMR. That's something on ice perspectives should do, as je did with PapCiz ! -
What will be Yuzuru Hanyu's EX program for 4CC 2020?
Pika replied to Henni147's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
Haha no worries !! I just said that because the pattern of doing a different old-new EX became obvious after JNats. Now I don't really now what could be next. I think it could be Hope&Legacy, since it's in Asia. And I'm secretly hoping he saves Let's Go Crazy for Worlds -
Was quite shocked when I read this. Nonetheless, I have a reliable source that told me Laurine claims she didn't take anything, and they are currently trying to prove she was contaminated without her knowing. I want to believe her, because I don't really know why an athlete would do this, cocaine doesn't even help performances. I find disgusting all the published articles implying that she was away from competitions for 3 months due to this matter, when she's dealing with serious injuries. Now it's a very bad timing for French skating...

What will be Yuzuru Hanyu's EX program for NHK 2019?
Pika replied to Henni147's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu

Also for Euros: Pairs: Cleo Hamon/Denys Strekalin; Coline Keriven & Noel Antoine Pierre Danse: Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron, Adelina Galyavieva/Louis Thauron, Evgenia Lopareva/Geoffrey Brissaud Lauriault/Le Gac being sidelined here may be the biggest upset. But another shady point, is why the French fed went over the silver medalists from Nationals (Mendoze/Kovalev who even won the free) and selected the bronze pair. They may be keeping the third spot for James/Ciprès, even if I don't think we will see them again, but that doesn't explain why bronze over silver.

I don't get it, Yuzuru never beat himself just to say "I'm such a bad skater, I'm the worst, I shouldn't skate anymore, please give evrything to Nathan". Most of the time, he's just being lucid bout his performances. He never says "I'm so bad, I'm a bad jumper" he usually states that he made mistakes, that he can do better, and that he will continue to train hard. That's basically what comes out every single press conference. When he performs well, he just says he's pleased and will try to get better everytime, which is something very standard to say. I don't think it's bad PR to say you skated poorly to your standards, and I honestly; I would not want him to brag, he wouldn't do it because he's Hanyu, but just some positive words would make people jump at him for being arrogant and everything And I would like to point out how hard it is for Hanyu to be under such media attention, that he always have to weight every single word. I mean, at GPF I would have jumped at the journalist that picked him on his face expression during press conference being softer or harder than usual or something like that. Seriously, what's the point, other than putting up public pressure during an interview ????

As the ultimate goal is the World title with 4A, common sense would say no, like the strategies from the past seasons. But at the same time, he has never won 4CC, he may want to test other layouts before WC, and also I wouldn't be surprised if he's hungry of another face-off with Nathan. So, sincerely no idea....

Shocked. Hoping justice will be made, whatever the outcome is.

I can't believe it..... They did it.... You can vote pour Shulepov's atrocity for Best costume How are they not ashamed seriously. I also laughed hard at Samarin being there with his Halloween thing.

Are there issues with the site or am I just dumb ? I can't see anything once I click on the categories... Even the search button doesn't work. Edit: just saw somebody mentioning it. Oh and it crashed for real now
-
Ok so Bitdefender just rejected the ISU page... "Come back to safety" they say...

The angle of the triple axel was brilliant! I love Jordan's work, and I admire him; to keep track gliding behind and around the best skaters, without getting dizzy , and highlighting the movements so beautifully. He really manages to enhance their qualities.
-
It isn't funny but I can't stop laughing.... They don't deserve him.

Good luck to our Frenchies at NHK !
-
After Rostelecom cup, the chances for Kevin to go to the Final are looking good! He needs to podium at NHK without Ignatov being higher than him, which is really doable.

Oh the old recycling debate Honestly, I'm of the ones who think that judges really don't care about music choices, and a big part of the fuss is simply created by the fans and mayyyybe medias (most of the time, "orientated" medias, biased toward on skater/team or another... Most of the correct ones usually depict quite objective facts of skating). And I'm not even mentioning the odd character who thinks he's a real critic and infleuncer - we shall not even write his name because he's not worth our attention... That said, I don't think Yuzu getting new programs or not will have an influence of the PCS he's getting, or should we say, the PCS Nathan is getting, closing the gap everyday. I hate to say that, but it's kind of inevitable. It's the same narrative with every rising star, just look at how Zagitova was raised to Medvedeva's PCS level; we should even be thankful it's not THAT fast in the Men's field... But back to subject I don't think Yuzuru will recycle Origin next season, but I would totally see him bring it back for the Olympics, once the quad axel is stable, as the cherry on top of everything. We also have to remember that skaters, even the most perfectionnist artists as Yuzu are humans. Listening to that same 4:30 minutes every.single.day might be undoable for such long time. We can notice he had breaks between the most recycled programs. Because it was part of the discussion I just went through the IJS SOV, and noticed 4A is only 12.50 BV ??!! Only 1 point more than a 4Lz ?! Even the 4S/4T have a bigger difference with the quad lutz... Insane...
