Nine more days! Yuzu and his big, fat, gigantic Axel baby are coming closer!
-
As far as I know, he never said explicitly whether he wants to compete at the Olympics or not. He only said that his goal is to land the 4A and that's what he's focusing on. I think it's quite smart of him to take it step by step and focus on his his own goals. Even if he does intend to compete at the Olympics, it's a good choice to not declare it out loud and create unnecessary pressure and media hype. There will be enough media hype as the season goes on anyway. It's also possible that Yuzu himself hasn't decided yet if he wants to take up that challenge or not. He might want to wait and see how this season progresses for him. Either way, I think the fact that he chose to create a new SP is probably a sign that he - at the very least - wants to give himself as many options as possible. We'll have to wait and see what happens. Whatever happens, there will be exciting times ahead. And whatever Yuzu chooses to do, I believe he knows that we'll always support him no matter what. We just want him to be happy and healthy.

That's what I'm thinking too. Whenever I hear something along the lines that Yuzu might not even want to go to the Olympics, I'm thinking if he wouldn't want to go, why would he then put in all the time, work and effort to prepare a new SP? And apparently an SP with piano music which is rather the kind of program that one would use for an Olympic season. Yuzu can do whatever he wants. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone anymore. Even landing the 4A is his own goal and dream and not something he's doing to impress anyone else. That being said, he's still a passionately competitive guy who's always loved to compete and win. So, if he still has the motivation and drive to get himself a third Olympic gold medal, he'll go for it. If he does compete in the Olympics, he'll still be one of the absolute favorites to win, no matter what media (North American media) might want to convey. But no matter what, I just want him to be happy, satisfied with himself and be healthy! Go, Yuzu!

When Yuzu lands that fabled 4A at NHK, there will be no stopping the crowd. I'm sure the entire rink will go completely and utterly nuts. They will totally bring the place down.
-
I'm pretty sure that since Yuzu publicly announced a specific date for himself to land the 4A in competition, he should be fairly confident about it already. Until now, he was always quite vague about it. I believe he wouldn't just put undue pressure on himself - let alone risk injury recklessly - without having a high enough success rate and a stable enough technique to actually land the jump in competition. He doesn't have to prove himself to anyone anymore and he knows that. To me, this is a man full of confidence and certainty. Go, Yuzu!

Try meditation. I've been meditating on a more or less regular basis for a couple of years and it really helps with anxiety, including Yuzu induced anxiety. Walks in nature also help. I know! It's one thing to know that he's working on it and that we will eventually see it in the future. But to actually have a specific set date just... makes it so real...
-
As far as I recall, he said something in a recent interview that suggested that the 4A is ready to go. He didn't say it directly, but the implication was there.

Holy shit! Okay, this is getting real. This is not a test. It's happening! All we can do is hope for the best. Yuzu, may you make your dream come true and achieve your goal. And please stay healthy and happy! That's the most important thing! [NEWS]

Origin 2.0 is sooo beautiful! It's definitely one of my favorite Yuzu costumes. Looking at his costume, you can see just what an incredible figure Yuzu has. Broad shoulders and such a tiny waist!

ANA posted a making of video of Yuzu's CM. Yuzu is sooo cute! [NEWS]

Oh, Yuzu... I hope he knows that he has done so much that will remain in the hearts of many, many people forever. Yuzu as a person and his skating have given me so much joy, happiness and beauty over the years. His gentle heart and kind soul have been a shining beacon for me. His extraordinary performances that come from the depth of his heart and soul have brought light, hope and healing to me during some of the darkest and most difficult times in my life.

Thank you so much for the translation! I absolutely love 小トロ's art. The children are so funny and cute. I also love how every child has their own distinct personality.
-
It's almost Halloween! Happy Halloween! This comic looks so cute. Would a Japanese speaker please kindly translate what the children are saying?

Yuzu's mischievous little children want to accompany him on his journey, so they sneaked into his suitcase and hid there.

I hope the organizers prepared a rather large postbox to receive all the mail from Yuzuru Hanyu acolytes from all over the world who can't go and see him in person. And what if people start sending in Poohs? Perhaps they should prepare a couple of containers. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

The only prediction about Yuzu that I believe is the following: once it's permitted again to throw gifts on the ice after a skater's performance, he will be showered with Poohs until the entire ice rink is full of yellow bears.

His life would already provide more than enough material for multiple seasons of an anime series.
-
And also his unfortunate asthma attack at Worlds. This is like a classical hero's journey: the hero has to overcome many obstacles and suffer many heartbreaks until he can finally triumph. And what a magnificent triumph it is. Yuzu has already lived through multiple of such hero's journeys. At this point, I also feel like it's time for him to experience another magnificent triumph. It's really due. And the Beijing Olympics would be the absolutely perfect opportunity for that. On another note, I also really, really hope that Boyang will experience a great success at his home Olympics, hopefully even a medal. After everything that poor guy has gone through the last couple of years, I wish him all the best. He would really deserve it. And of course Sui/Han! They would also more than deserve a gold medal at their home Olympics.

Lae also explained the medal designs and the writing on them. Come on, if this isn't the greatest sign! The medals literally have part of Yuzu's name and his FP's name written on them. And also the concept of heaven and earth. Yuzu's life and career have already been full of unbelievable occurrences and coincidences that seemed to come right out of an anime. This is another one of these things that seem almost supernatural. I'd say the stage is set for 3-time Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu! This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

Focus on the now. Yuzu wisdom that I really need to adhere to. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

Now that's the perfect lunch for me!

OMG! This is amazing! Only Yuzu can do it like this.
-
Yuzu doing a fashionable avantgarde Chopin remix called "Chopin Resurrected". No matter what music Yuzu chose for his SP, I'm confident his program will be another masterpiece.

This looks like he just grabbed some suit from his grandpa's closet and threw it on! Daniel is all of us. So relatable.

This is a very interesting thread about skating techniques.
