[2022] Grand Prix of MK John Wilson Trophy
Sombreuil replied to sallycinnamon's topic in 2022-2023 Grand Prix Series
Me neither - I wondered but it’s the same irl - friend noticed his spins and wondered if he has hyper flexibility to get into those positions. Might explain the frog in a blender jumps. But he stays on his feet - looking at you Roman (and Deniss)….. -

My phone died mid afternoon 🙄. So pleased for Roman - 🤞🏻for tomorrow. My friend, who doesn’t watch skating enjoyed Mai’s run through. They were a bit startled by the coaches faces when Morisi finished til I explained he’d popped every jump, and it’s not what one would describe as a nurturing coaching team…. -

I know - it’s been hell. That would be nice - I’m meeting a friend on Friday and my husband is joining me on Saturday- neither are skating fans and will probably get there in time for the actual competition rather than practices but I want to see as much skating as I can. I will look out for you - I’m block 10, row B, seat 14. -

@Louitunes I’m going - thankfully the rail strike is over so I should be there for Friday mens practice. -
I loved many things about this, from the 6 minutes practice to Change no 3 costume, to the fabulous lighting. Specifically I found it strangely satisfying that he was skating on that pristine ice that was laid just for him to skate on - no one else’s toe pick holes or traces to spoil it. Probably just me being weird but I liked that very much.

That may be so - but the finance department knows who fills the arenas and the broadcasters know who gets everyone to tune in - they must really regret the attitude of ISU

Olympics still clutching on to his coat tails in hope of staying associated with their most popular winter sports personality https://olympics.com/en/news/figure-skating-japan-hanyu-yuzuru-prologue-opening-show

I have been sufficiently inspired to order a t shirt - first time I’ve ever done that.

Soo cute! Yuzuru has helped a lot of people - ircc he talked to Mura about jump technique and helped SL watching Deniss at a practice once? Those that do can’t always teach, but if he can get the Shuu paaas across in Japanese and he’s got the time why not?

How unsurprised are we?

You really were…

Missed all of this at the wi fi desert that is my mothers house. Looking forward to seeing Roman at Sheffield- hope he has a better weekend

this has seriously cheered me up at a miserable time - I always loved that black chrysanthemum printed costume

So by lunchtime the fandom will have tracked down where that shirt comes from…

@Henni147 So sorry to hear you’re not well - please take care of yourself 💐 Re Dick Button - he was absolutely right, and there’s a reference to an aspect of the situation that gets glossed over - the fact that the ISU is headed by speed skaters and has been for decades, while the revenue is brought in by figure skaters. In my dream world they would split and form their own international organisations, of course involving a thorough house cleaning and revamp of the rules, judge selection etc etc. I bet a separate FS organisation could afford the tech the sport is in such desperate need of. While they’re at it relocate to somewhere cheaper and less elitist than Switzerland. As my mother says, ‘might as well dream here as in bed’. edit. Forgot the photoshoot - while his suits are hugely improved in his new incarnation, I wouldn’t get too carried away - I think he’ll still dress in black/neutral sportswear, suits or traditional dress clothes where appropriate out of choice. What we might get are more designer photoshoots - possibly on the ice - if JW managed to stay upright in iirc some NY designers stuff a while ago I’m sure Yuzuru can skate in it. Aera last time put him in a modern version of the gentleman’s covert coat which is one of those classic looks that drift in and out of fashion so they’re obviously quite flexible in the ‘looks’ they feature. He doesn’t seem to care what they dress him in - must be great for the stylist if you’re used to diva actors/singers/celebs who seem to get very picky at times about these things. If he was ever going to utter the Japanese equivalent of ‘I’m not wearing THAT’ while throwing a hissy fit it would surely have been over the frilly white and gold number.

I like the fact he’s taking responsibility for the decision to move which I can’t imagine being v popular in Italy - bit like YH going to Canada. Sometimes one just needs a new perspective.
