Hiwatashi must be exhausted - he was at Sheffield last weekend - back to back GPs so far apart.

I’m pleased for Yelim , she deserved to win - Kaori wasn’t firing on all cylinders this weekend.

I really like her speed - a lot of skaters can’t keep up with music like that but she managed it beautifully

Must be. It’s so difficult with Japanese rules on citizenship for pairs and ice dance - Takahashi/Tran were their last successful pair, and that foundered on his citizenship stopping them competing in the Olympics. I’m so pleased that M/K are doing so well and hopefully more will try pairs and ice dance -there are so many Japanese singles skaters. Saw a photo of Satoko and Keiji skating together at the opening - that would be a lovely pairing.

I can’t believe the difference in Kihara - he used to look rather dour and miserable with previous partners - she’s made such a difference to him

As I frequently say my favourite pair are Sui/Han by some distance for many reasons, but partly because I like the fact that they are a proportionate couple, not a large muscular man flinging a small (often much younger) woman around the ice. I get a similar vibe from Conti/ Macii after seeing them at Sheffield- they are both tall and thin - he could probably do with a little more muscle in order to be able to rescue the last lift that got away from them at Sheffield ( or maybe more stamina?) but I enjoyed their skating very much.

Yesterday was a long day for me - haven’t made it to the practices I’m afraid but I’ll be there for the start of the womens competition

Both the people who came with me to Sheffield liked Katya - she has such charm that even the choice of music this season can’t diminish her - though I do think Elvis is too heavy for her. I can’t think of a single Elvis programme I’ve really enjoyed.

Well I suppose if both Denis’s and Roman went clean in the same competition it would herald the apocalypse or something- I’m very disappointed, but the audience were lovely to him. I’m on extensive record regarding my opinion of Daniel’s jumps, but what he lacks in technique is amply made up in sheer grit- he ground out one of those combos right in front of me not six feet away and the determination on his face was something to behold - it was as though sheer willpower was forcing his muscles through those two (admittedly horrible) jumps. And he seems to be a very likeable person - not full of himself like some we could list.

Mai was just lovely - there was a tear in my eye when she finished. Husband is v annoyed by YYs score -he enjoyed her skate even though he has no idea what he’s looking at. I thought she looked tired. Levito is meh - @liv Scherbakova wannabe is right on the nail, even down to the….let’s be kind and call it ‘busy’ choreo - no real expression, and an OTT costume to top it off.
