  1. For the love of God... keep it black, Yuzu.
  2. Yuzu is still Japan's ace. The way I see it, it is not all about JSF politics. ISU needs to boost some people to keep Yuzu from dominating the field. Shoma is one of the logical choice since he is artistic enough to satisfy some fans, especially those who do not like Yuzu. But the situation may change since US now has strong competitor too. Also, even though Shoma has strong political backup from his fed, but in terms of coach I think Brian has much stronger influence.
  3. Well, it will be more than legendary if he goes and managed to win the third gold. Media asked it because he will still be young enough to be a three-peat at 27 y.o. However, since he said himself that if he going there he will want to win and not just to sing his swan song, his physical condition will be the deciding factor. That is why he doesn't give a certain answer. As for Shoma... I am rather sceptical that he will be as strong a competitor like Hanyu (no hate here, just trying to be objective). He is currently depended on the judges' mercy with his jumps problems being overlooked. Whenever ISU finds another golden boy, he will be dropped like a hot stone. I believe he himself is aware of this, hence his summer jump training camp. Kudos to him, and I hope he managed to correct his technique.
  4. He will spend this season to land it, spend the next season to do do an axel sandwich with it, and then might decide to stay for another two seasons to go to Olympics! Who knows?
  5. Yuzu is unpredictable, but his costume choice is usually a literal one. (romeo and juliet, POTO, seimei, wings of words) so I still think he will going black with Origin. I am hoping for red for Otonal.
  6. He can edit Otonal into an all piano version and get or manipulate Shinya to polish it the way he wants.
  7. @Xen Another reason to do the tribute now--since ISU has allowed tights for men this year?
  8. My take from the quotes is that previously he is unable to fully enjoy his skating because there are lots of expectations from others. But now he can skate just for himself.
  9. i am with the team not-Yuzu too. The guy in the 00.07 does not look like him. Um, I think it is the neck proportion for me. The latter one is more feasible, but I cannot say for sure because it is rather blurry (although it might get blurry because it is indeed Yuzu and Jason is moving his phone faster coz he is being thoughtful to keep his privacy. Who knows,)
  10. Gosh, great timing. I am so stressed with my job right now and seeing that tweet is like the best thing that happened to me today.
  11. He did a layback spin at FaOI. Will be interesting to see if he really use it in his programs this year. At this moment I just want to know which songs he decided to use though.
  12. With Canada having less depth in men's figure skating it is understandable that they are getting hyped with Gogolev. It will not be as bad as the American though. I think Canada is still cautious about their silver curse status.
  13. You can always mute the music and use other songs, but you simply cannot close your eyes to avoid looking at his hair! (a lil hyperbole here, his meh hairstyle are usually those in ads) He can use this one though
  14. I am sold IF he brings back his LGC hairstyle.
  15. I think he can do Jazz well too. Tango I have a hard time to imagine, while hip hop... Well, I guess he can. But I am not sure if hip hop is suitable for skating. When will you have your media day, o you cave dweller.
  16. I want to see him doing another high energy program though. Or another intense one like R&J 1.0 (I'm so dry that I reread older threads from 2011-2014 hence the R&J reference)
  17. Or he might be doing Wing of Words for SP and Haru Yo Koi for FP and feels that he already made the announcement. (kicking myself for giving such outlandish idea )
  18. Yes, I believe this is true since Yuzu was sent to 4CC in 2011 for being number 4 in Japan Nats. But I also imagine it is not a certainty since Dai was also at 4CC in 2011 even though he was number 3 back then. And Yuzu being number 1 in Japan Nats 2012 also still going to 4CC 2013.
  19. Mine. Made a slight change for ITA commentaries. I will choose ITA everytime as long as there are translation. Lol. Also add some info in number 7: costume and hair for LGC or Seimei since my personal preference will be Seimei 2.0 > LGC > Seimei 1.0 1. H&L's biellman spin OR Chopin's backcounter 3A 2. Seimei's one leg entry into a camel spin OR The Swan's combination sit spins 3. First person to land 4A in competition OR Win perfect streak in a season 4. 3Peat Olym Champion OR WR holder in SP, FS, and Total under the new system for another 5 years (this means even after another successive Olympic season) 5. Haru Yo Koi and Requiem of Heaven and Earth OR The Swan and White Legend 6. Sexiness: PW 2.0's running-through-hair OR Chopin 3.0's Ina Bauer 7. Costume and hair: LGC or Seimei 2.0 8. First person to land a 4T-4T combo in competition OR first person to land a Quintuple Toe in competition 9. Change coach and compete for another 4 years OR Retire before the 19/20 season and go on a hiatus before returning as a coach in 2022 10. Skate clean to LGC in competition or land a Quad Flip in competition 11. Yuzu's program choreo: Jeffrey Buttle OR Shae-Lynn Bourne 12. Favorite rawness/passion: RJ 2012 World or Seimei NHK 13. Chopin's ending pose and reaction: NHK/GPF/World/ACI/Pyeongchang 14. Yuzu's struggling with English moments OR Yuzu's laughing sound 15. ITA commentaries with translation OR No commentary 16. Yuzu guest starring in a new movie OR Yuzu guest starring in Tokyo Ghoul 17. New hair color OR Stage make up 18. Drama: Skate to YOI's EROS for an exhibition OR Get an IG account 19. earphones OR pooh 20. If YUZU were not a figure skater: would you want him to be a baseball player OR soccer player bonus: Music choice: Shoma's Moonlight or Alina's POTO Bonus question for others: 1. Bold and brave costuming choices: Plunging V neckline, or tights I don't really see both as bold and brave though, just choose which one I like better.
  20. I love your way with words. Hope the benevolent overlord see that and grant our wish. Now I need to rewatch full music clip of 30STM's From Yesterday. Reading the letter has evoked my memory on it.
  21. I will share a lil bit of my experience with the commentators and my take on it then. As a new-ish fan with limited background info on FS I do rely on commentators to gain some additional insights and information from a performance. That is why, up until now, I enjoy ITA ESP and Kurt's (even with all his talk about Pooh bear ). Also, I can understand the criticism on how commentators should say unbiased things. I do not recall listening to the debated BESP commentary, but I do remember being puzzled when I watched Spanish commentaries back from GPF 2011 where the lady said Yuzuru has juniorish skate (CMIIW, I might confuse it with another competition, it was from his early years though). I also remember looking for another source to confirm about the said juniorish skate comment and find it to be untrue. Biased commentary is a double-edged sword: When a fan (especially a well-informed one) get it there can be criticism. I suppose that is the main reason why BESP toned down their bias. For a not well-informed one fan like me, it will just give an opportunity to learn more about Yuzu. And I think this can be considered as a positive outcome. For antis, it will just serve as weapon. We can see how they will use it as a justification and spread comments about "xx said yy about skater A" and so on. But on indifferent people, it will just a passing information that will soon be forgotten. I don't really think some indifferent people will go on spreading criticism about some athletes. They got better things to do with their time. Thus, I think it will just serve as a proof that people will see (and hear) what they want to see and hear. (Note: you can replace biased commentary with "facts" and it will still have the same outcome. Bizzare, isn't it? ) TL;DR this is the internet era. There are so many source of information out there and when people are interested enough they will find additional information and avoid the unreliable one (reliable one here being relative to their preference, of course ). Now, should BESP give a valid commentary? Well they damn should at least try if they don't want to be considered incompetent by FS fans.
  22. My guess is, if it is indeed spread by antis, is that they try to project him as a weak person since usually a week person is the one being bullied. Well, just shrug it off since we all know how strong he actually is, don't we? I remember watching a video about him visiting his old school and there are some part discussing this.
  23. There are 4 that I watched the most: Seimei - Oly 2018 >> no doubt my favorite Notte Stellata - Oly 2018 >> feels like his most ethereal, calm one Hope and Legacy - Worlds 2017 Romeo and Juliet - Worlds 2012 Other than those top 4, my fave are: POTO - WTT 2015 PWW - Oly 2014 Ballade - Oly 2018 >> Fave costume and that Ina Bauer... LGC - Worlds 2017 >> his interaction with the audience Change - TOI 2014 Requiem - Worlds 2016
  24. Well, all controversies aside, I'm happy I made them watch. Now they know why I greatly admire Yuzu and prone to gush about him sometimes.
  25. So we're back to costume discussion? I 'forced' two of my non-FS-fan male friends to watch and comment on several of Yuzu's programs. The result is as follows (not surprising): - Seimei Olympics: great program, great costume, impressed with the sincerity of Yuzu's bow to the fans. - Hope and Legacy: show off (since he opened it with quad loop), dislike the white shoulder patch, got chill near the end of the program. Very impressed with the performance. - Notte Stellata: almost close down the YouTube after 10 seconds due to the deep V in the costume, like the single axel and the triple axel. - Let's Go Crazy: Purple? Prince? Get me outta here (in his own words).
