  1. At this point, Yuzu's really milking the whole tease-Brian-by making-him-carry-Pooh thing
  2. Oh gawd I love that little smirk he gives there. I'm just going to agree with everyone on their choices, because I would be choosing the same ones! The only other one I would add is him helping Roman after the ACI medal ceremony. That was vintage Yuzu. And the way he smiles while he's enjoying the simple act of skating, whenever it is. There's just something nice about watching someone love what they do. Oh, and how could I forget? The moment in my profile pic! when he's being so extra and all the other skaters are helping him do it.
  3. CBC has been pretty good about livestreaming lately. I use it.
  4. Only a month left for me to win the lottery and convert my life to that of a skating nomad attending his competitions around the world...
  5. Yes, but if he keeps doing traditional Japanese themed programs, sooner or later he'll have to wear makeup, like for kabuki or Noh theatre characters. That's what I was thinking of. Like this : https://www.kansaiscene.com/2013/06/kabuki-101/
  6. So for everyone who picked new hair colour, what colour would you like to see? I think deep blue or purple lowlights hidden among the black would be lovely, but I like his natural hair the best.
  7. I think no one even realized until after the media pointed it out.
  8. Aww that's so CUTE!!
  9. My choices in bold, above... Also : Bold and brave costuming choices: Plunging V neckline, or tights. I don't feel like I need to see Yuzu in tights. I'm gonna add one: 21. Beautiful celestial being Yuzu (HYK, H&L, Etude etc) or Fierce competitior Yuzu (Origin, LGC, Seimei, etc)
  10. Yeah. And just think how many celebrities that guy hasn't seen on account of protecting them.
  11. On the contrary, Yuzu is exactly the dictionary definition of phenomenon: phenomenon noun [ C ] (EXISTING THING) C1 something that exists and can beseen, felt, tasted, etc., especiallysomething unusual or interesting: Unless you wish to argue that he doesn't exist and can't be seen and isn't unusual or interesting. From what I witnessed myself at ACI, there is a marked difference in behaviour between those who sportsfan Yuzu and those who idol fan Yuzu. And those who idol fan him are definitely stepping over those lines that you mention. The idol fans are willing to lose control of themselves in their pursuit of Yuzu as an object; despite some screaming, cheering, and clapping at appropriate times and some stuffed-animal tossing, the sportsfans are not willing to abandon their rationality in the same way.
  12. I'll chime in: I think Origin is the best costume Hanyu's worn to date. To me it's the one that most expresses his true self - the beautiful but ferocious competitor. So my ranking of his costumes is: 1. Origin 2. H&L/ Seimei 2.0/purple LGC ( tie) 3. Haru yo ko/ Hana ni Nare ( to me these costumes both have the same feel of springtime) 4. Both Sochi costumes And I could absolutely do without any of the costumes in the pale blues other than Otonal. I'm also really not fond of Ballade or Notte Stellata, I don't think those silhouettes flatter Zu.
  13. Ultimately he whole-heartedly praises Yuzu and recognizes his achievement. It's a start.
  14. Yeah, he really has a knack for saying things in exactly the wrong way. But you can see how hard he's trying.
  15. Well, so far multiple people close to Yuzu have said, on the record, that's he's training 4A. To me, that doesn't mean trying it to see if he can get it. It means he's got to the stage where he's refining and honing it and making it into a muscle memory so that he can safely and smoothly drop one into a program whenever. It sounds a lot further along than either Aliev's (seeming) trial-and-error efforts or Keegan's still-not-off-harness work. IMO, Nessie is basking patiently in the shallows by the lakeshore, waiting for Yuzu to come and get her. And she might just go looking for him if he keeps her waiting too long.
  16. If he wasn't watching the fans, he wasn't doing his job.
  17. The Zen didn't even last one full competition.
  18. I think anyone who watches his practices can see it. While other skaters are frantically doing full run-throughs or practicing jumps and spins, Yuzu does edge ( I don't know what else to call them but they're basic skating exercises) drills, a few jumps, one run-through where he stops after the first or second jump and strokes around visualizing his performance to the music, counting the beats, marking to himself where he'll do certain elements, and clearly thinking. He'll pick up the music and finish the run through, then chat with his coaches, do more exercises and cool down. I think the key habit that's different from the others is how much time he's spending thinking about his performance. Meanwhile the other skaters are basically getting in a workout and it's anyone's guess what's going on in their heads. Anyway, all that is just what I was able to observe, as an uneducated viewer, at the open practice. No big secret, anyone with eyes to see will notice it.
  19. Yes. My point was that whatever Yuzu is earning, he's not doing it from a desire to be rich but rather because money enables him to accomplish his other goals in life.
  20. That's adorable. I love it!
  21. Or a bunch of doting grandads bought them as gifts for their fanyu granddaughters...
  22. I've heard that one before, and I don't know how people come up with it. He's so clearly being sincere when he talks about he desire to help Sendai. I'm also in the camp that doesn't think his money is our business, but I'd like to point out two things: 1. Figure skating is a very expensive sport, and not only is Yuzu the best, but he also works with the best all the time. His family has to maintain two residences and he has to fly to competitions and so on. None of that is cheap. His ANA sponsorship, for example, clearly serves a very practical purpose. I don't know how much funding the JSF gives their skaters, but I know the average Canadian skater cannot afford a lot of the things Yuzu is able to do ( Nam Nguyen, for example, just took a part-time job selling skating equipment because his parents said they wouldn't pay for him any more). So I suspect a hefty chunk of his earnings simply gets ploughed back into his skating. 2. It's possible that his prize winnings might be the only part of his earnings Yuzu has full control over, hence why he's free to donate them. I don't know how it works in Japan, but over here, performers who are minors earning lots of money usually have their money managed by other people. Depending on when he signed his endorsements, that may also be the case for Yuzu. In any case, watching him, it's clear that Yuzu's one of those people who see money as a tool to do good things with, rather than something to collect large amounts of.
  23. I want him to keep doing the Lotte chocolate commercials...he takes them so seriously it's fun to watch. I could definitely watch a show where Yuzu makes pastries and sweets. ☺️ As for game shows, he'd be very entertaining on one of those obstacle course ones, but somehow I can't imagine him doing it.
