  1. I guess the collab is on The Kid Laroi's album, not JK's
  2. ...and it's pretty clear who his bias wrecker is as well
  3. Understandable. I never would have heard of "Cupid" if Kpop accounts didn't pop up on my Twitter feed. Also would have never heard of New Jeans' "Ditto" without Kpop accounts and BTS. Just took a look and it looks like "Like Crazy" passed "Ditto" but "Cupid" is still ahead of him on Spotify streams. Sometimes I attempt to listen to music just to be in touch with the current cultural phenomena so I plan to listen to Cupid eventually just to see what it's about, but I need to give my ears a break after forcing myself to try to listen to Taylor Swift and New Jeans. I have yet to get through an entire song of either - will never understand the appeal.
  4. I wonder what category "The Astronaut" was submitted for - I'm guessing pop. I had a glimmer of hope since the rock category is really weak these days, but then I noticed that Coldplay has been getting submitted in the "pop" category, which explains why they haven't won in a long time. But confusing because I thought most people considered them Rock. Jin's music video had such a great concept and nuance. It deserves to be in the running for Best Music Video. I loved the Amygdala music video as well. I also wonder where Hobi's album was submitted. I think it was charting in the alternative charts and I don't recall seeing any of the nominees from last year on any of the regular charts.
  5. Last I heard, they were suing their label but they're still together. I never heard the rumors about payola, etc. - but that gets thrown around any time a song does better than someone's fave. "Cupid" was the biggest streamed Kpop song before New Jeans, "like Crazy", and "Seven" so it makes way more sense that they got nominated for EMA's than it did for BlackPink (who haven't done anything of note in a year) to win at the VMA's. hmm.. now that I think about it, Jimin got majorly snubbed twice now . He had 3 of the top 10 most streamed songs in Kpop this year Realistically, JK is the only one who has a shot at getting nominated. These are normally about commercial success + backstage deals. He won't win because of the latter reason but maybe Grammy will hope for more of an audience if they have a BTS member nominated. Jin might have an outside shot at a nomination since Coldplay wrote the song and he's the only one who was singled out by the Grammy panel when they previously submitted the group for consideration. But I highly doubt it since I don't think they're going to have anyone hustling for them behind the scenes. Jimin's music is too traditionally Kpop, which is not respected in the West and the rest didn't make enough of a splash in the West. But I have RM getting nominated on my wish list since he gets the least love from Army and I don't see how that can't hurt at least a little. I guess I'm not too surprised that this is the one that's turning out to be true. BTS seems to mainly collaborate with lesser known artists. Ariana and Justin are huge names and apparently it's a big hassle getting those types of deals worked out. Can you believe that this is the one that Blinks and the West chose to support against our guy?
  6. Get your snacks ready. It's a food episode https://w2g.tv/?r=s51326tntx8pkpm8m5
  7. Jin related updates There's speculation that Jin was at JK's Suchwita episode and hidden by sugar cubes. The right sugar cube does look like Jin's shoulders and hands
  8. Same here. Luckily my job has so much down time - but even then, I feel like I can't keep up. btw, I noticed that Doja Cat's streams go up a lot during the weekdays. Since her fan base is largely American, it makes me think that we screw around at work more than most countries. I wonder if this will be the title track. Later in the thread, someone said that she announced new music coming soon and I've seen pics of BTS and Ariana together. If this is true, this song is going to be ENORMOUS! And looks like JK hijacked Mingyu's account and ambushed a Seventeen live
  9. Looks like you can vote every 10 seconds?
  10. How cute is this? Jimin's Dad is so proud You have to buy the album off of Weverse to have a chance at the fan meeting right? Do I buy it from them for the 1 in 10million shot at meeting JK or buy from Walmart to have it count toward the charts? I don't know if I trust Target after what happened with Jin and Joon
  11. OMG! JK's new album is named "Golden" I hope he has at least one heartfelt ballad like his covers
  12. I don't see this anywhere else and you can't reply to ask about it so take this with a giant grain of salt
  13. That's clever but I don't think I'd want to be traumatized every time I want a nap. That makes sense since they're vague enough that a lot of us had to google them to know what they mean. But yeah, ironic since the latter is the reason the majority of objectors are against the song. The only definition of "champagne confetti" I saw that wasn't explicit was interpretations of the song by Army, who I suspect either didn't do the research or were trying to make it more palatable to those who would likely object But there's no doubt in my mind, considering that the song is about a reformed "F*#k boy and the " lyrics also refer to "playing with yourself on camera" that the intended meaning is the female orgasm, which in itself is a watered down definition As for ABG, everything I've read and heard from another Korean American is that it's merely a descriptor of a specific subset of people and not necessarily insulting. While I did initially feel a sense of "ick" about it, I think that was more an emotional response to a lifetime of being a disregarded part of society than a logical one. It's no different than saying WAG, BAP, WASP, etc. If you're against these types of terms in general, I understand and sympathize with the offense. But if you're ok with any of these and especially if you use the very common "Karen", which is not only arguably racist and misogynistic but undoubtedly derogatory, I don't see why ABG would be offensive. And for "whoring", Jack's referring to the behavior of the "F__k boy" in the song, not the women btw, Seven is more graphic than most people realize btw, Jack might be a 1 dimensional talent with juvenile, crude lyrics, but I do think this is cute - JK getting a taste of his own medicine
  14. Finally some radio play! I hope Scooter can get this done for the group come back as well. This is why I fully support every release no matter how I feel about the collaborator - the more success each member has, the more likely they can finally break through on every front.
  15. I agree. He's been expressing a desire to be treated like an adult for at least 5 years. He's never particularly liked being called cute and he didn't like being called bunny in his early days, though obviously he's learned to lean into it, and he wanted to bulk up long before the company allowed him to. He can't escape people thinking he's cute as long as he has those eyes and that smile, but I think a large part of the reason that he appeals to the masses is that combination of cute and sexy.
  16. This is incredible! The other 3 are "Easy on Me" and "Hello" by Adele and "Lalisa" by Lisa. For some reason I thought all global superstars achieved this but there's no Taylor, Beyonce, Miley, Drake, etc. And the fandom is speaking with their Spotify listens. The main version of "3D" is third on the Spotify list for the 1st 2 days, but the alternate version was 38th on the 1st day and 83rd on the 2nd day. For some reason kworb is combining the counts for 3D on the 1st version - I've never seen them do that before. But combined, 3D would have been 1st both days. Bummer for me - I would have liked to have seen JK get #1 on Global 200 again. Seven is also seeing a push in streams but we're falling just short from 1st. https://kworb.net/spotify/country/global_daily.html I empathize with everyone who is offended by the lyrics, but I stream the 1st version just because it's the one more likely to chart and I see supporting the individual members as supporting the group. I thought about it, and after analyzing them, I don't think I'm offended by the lyrics, but I'm really offended by the double standards in America toward race relations - Jack wouldn't get away with this if he were talking about black women, whether it were actually racist or not.
  17. Looking forward to the Spotify charts tomorrow. I know it's too early to judge, but feeling good about this song for the Hot 100 and I think it'll push Seven higher again as well The MV is already 3rd on most viewed videos in the last 24 hours after only 5 hours. And it looks like Jack has been following random Army. Someone said that he even DM'd her
  18. I was thinking it reminded of Justin T as well. Which is unfortunate because I always got the impression that JT is a giant douche. I don't like that he felt a need to publicly talk about how he and Britney had sex when they were dating or that he let Janet completely take the fall for the Super Bowl nipple gate. JK's dancer bragging about getting to grab JK's boob
  19. Part of me wishes I didn't jump down this rabbit hole. I enjoyed the song until I really looked at the details. I am concerned about how he's going to perform this song. With 7, Latto was a small enough part that her absence didn't hugely impact the song. But with this, JK and Jack are more like partners. JK's part doesn't have a lot of nuance to it so not sure how well it'll stand on its own. Not sure if this is Twitter Army is that gutter brained or if this was the intent of the move
  20. yikes. I wonder how it's going to affect the streams. The song seems American audience friendly. Just watched the video with subtitles and some of the lyrics are pretty cringe. That was fast. I should keep track of how quickly everything reaches #1 on different charts. I wonder if we're going to get 20 different versions of this song too
  21. What the heck! Why didn't it show up for me? That's my one small nitpick of the song as well. I'd like the last 30 seconds or so to be a bit different. But overall, I think it's fun, catchy, and JK looks smokin hot! I was concerned when I watched 3 different videos of Jack Harlow rapping and he sounded the same in all of them - and frankly, he sounds pretty similar here too - but the contrast with JK's vocals sounds great together ETA: I was bummed out when I went to karaoke and there wasn't a single BTS song. My local karaoke DJ will play a song even if it's not in her catalog, but then you really have to know it but I thought it might be too hard with songs being in Korean. I think Butter and Dynamite might be too difficult with so many different vocals + rap. I might be able to learn this one and I think it would be a good crowd pleaser but pretty sure I'll look ridiculous trying to rap
  22. I'm confused. Isn't there a music video for 3D? I had serious doubts about the song after listening to a few Jack Harlow songs but I like this one. Turns out Seven is a bit of an ear worm - I like it more after hearing it for a while.
  23. Ye Jimin-ah! Had Japchae, Butter chicken & beef curry with Naan, and a Kinder Bueno bar I keep meaning to make Kimbap but I wish you could make it ahead of time without getting soggy seaweed and dry rice. CK hit the jackpot with JK. I hope they paid him well for this campaign. ETA: I keep forgetting to buy some stock in whatever the Tannies represent - by the time I'd hear of it, it would still be too late to get the full impact but as long as you're able to buy some before it peaks, you should make a good profit. Imagine if we bought CK stock when it was in the red - would have paid for those concert tickets and more And a Rolling Stone article about RM's musical impact Just thought this was funny. I love how Joon goes from cutting this noble presence to being a giant dork
