  1. This is a topic that inevitably comes up because figure skating is a sport that needs to balance finesse and aerodynamics with strength and power. Based on some users' suggestions, I'm gonna start a separate thread to talk about it because not everyone wants to read it and so it doesn't derail other threads. Here are a couple of basic links I found about sports nutrition from USFSA: http://www.usfsa.org/content/2008 Elite Coaches Seminar-Nutrition.pdf https://www.usfigureskating.org/content/2009NutritionHandout-III-PreDuringPost 09Jan13.pdf http://iceskatingresources.org/NutritionFigureSkating.html And an article I found of nutritional issues that top skaters have faced: http://www.businessinsider.com/figure-skaters-diets-nutrition-problem-2018-2 On that note, please refrain from making overly speculative comments about skaters' bodies or eating disorders/habits unless it's public information, and don't make comments about who should lose or gain weight! Comments like these can have lasting negative effects.
  2. I agree that it doesn't look like him, especially the hair. The face -- eh -- but still, something's off, his cheekbones especially.
  3. What browser? Strange, I don't see it can you link a post where you def see it?
  4. What themes are you guys using?
  5. Does anyone still see this issue?
  6. Okay, so that upgrade took a much longer time bc there were issues with our host. It's been fixed now, and I'll do an upgrade in 1 hour, because we need to do it soon to fix the tweet-hiding-posts issue that's blocking many people. Hope it works!
  7. OMG!!!! Congratulations Yuzu!! (And Javi and Gabby!)
  8. It's also part of his idea of a "perfect" program, to have one of each type of jump haha. That's also why he never got rid of the flip (but with one fewer jumping pass who knows)...
  9. 3Lo combos seem to be associated with hip issues, and they almost always seem underrotated. Except Alina, who can throw down 3Los like Evgenia can throw down 3Ts.
  10. That's so cool! I can only do the position on land and can't do it on the ice, IBs are so pretty.
  11. I spent an hour on waltz jumps today and I think I see a bit of an improvement, mostly from trying to "kick" with the foot rather than the knee so my leg is (more) extended rather than bent. It did feel like a bigger jump although I didn't record it because I'm sure it's more of a ~feeling~ than anything physical. But I looked at the ice traces (I always look at ice traces so much that I have to remember not to look at them *while* jumping and keep my head up) and for a few jumps it was hard for me to find the take off trace, whereas usually it's like *here's the takeoff trace* *aaaannndd here's the landing trace* so I'll just use that as a sign that my jumps have better distance
  12. the-real-xmonster (on tumblr) has a good post about lines. It's all about your personal preference, but great turnout (of the hips and foot) and extension (locked knees, held for enough time to appreciate it, a "photo moment" if you will), core strength and posture are important to me http://the-real-xmonster.tumblr.com/post/164125880179/aaaaand-this-is-probably-staring-me-in-the-face
  13. that would do it! oh my godd
  14. we had to contact our developer about it so it might take a few more days
  15. Haha that's interesting as I don't usually see anyone use mohawks for sals, just uhhh loops and waltz jumps? For flips and sals usually i see people do 3turns or rolling 3turns if they can. But yeah you have to check really well after the 3 turn so you don't use the swingyness into the jump bc that's uhh supposedly bad. I should try sals again as that was my problem (not being able to check the 3 turn) but I did 3 turns on a line for 750937402 hours and now I can finally check them sorta. Also I used to underrotate my loops a lot when I first started one them, the landing mark would be totally outside of the circle
  16. Haha it's the hole where cameras for footwork and stuff used to go in....but I wonder what's there now?
  17. Yeah there is an issue and we are contacting the developer about it
  18. This is the link I saw:
  19. Random thought but I've always wanted to go roller skating (but have never made it out of my driveway without falling and quitting). One day I will do it..
  20. Good question, depends on what you mean by "comfortable." I think it took a long time for me to stop feeling like I might fall or slip once in a while doing nothing but skating or rounding corners haha so personally maybe a year? Or less? (Granted I still feel that way sometimes...) It also depends on how good your skates are. If they're tight and well fitted you'll feel like that less!
  21. A bit sad Ashley is going to retire like this. I know lots of people who would love to see her La La Land again but I guess Worlds wasn't important enough. Anyway, hope she lands the media jobs she probably wants. Adam Rippon certainly has.
  22. Ci Ci CI CI
  23. i still keep reading it as C i (the letters) lol i can't
  24. It was Chelsea Piers...I didn't hear about it, and I'm sure you're not supposed to, but I just saw people doing it haha..
