Let's go with a simple one for Worlds, and go for a bigger one (like the scrape book) during the off season. =)

I think it's because the building was filled with very dry cacti for too long of a time. International relations here, and whomever decided that strategy in TCC was good. The execution was even better. We should put TCC's method as an example for game theory application. =)

Going to use a spoiler tag, because I'm also quoting from earlier posts:

@kaerb: thank you for the translation of his interviews. It's a lot more positive than I thought. But then again, we've all been fooled by his smiles before, so I hope this time it's genuine. Also regarding his pain and his decisions so far: 1) He needs time to heal, but if he decides to continue figure skating, he will. Never doubt Mister Yuzuru "I am men's figure skating" Hanyu. And he said he still has dreams to fulfill, and I doubt Nessie is the only one. So more or less, he's probably going to return. We're looking at a guy who essentially *willed* his way to his 2nd OGM. Have we no faith in his willpower? 2) He made it pretty clear in all interviews and books and everything so far, that he *loves* figure skating. So he's not going to just fade into the background. In the recent interviews, he essentially said he's willing to help coach someone to be No. 1. He wants to travel too. You know what? I think in some recent interview, Tracy (?) said they had him teach other people how to hydroblade to relieve pressure, and he loved that. What if he and Javi go do skating seminars to promote figure skating across the world. Maybe coming to a rink near you? He loves figure skating, probably more than figure skating community deserves. So I don't think we've heard the last from him anyways. Imagine a future, 10-12 years later, where he, Javi, Nobu (who coaches too) and Lambiel compete in the coaches-boards-antics competition. We need a coach-cam. 3) I have some serious suspicions that he lurks on social media (Brian's warnings not withstanding) because a) the shade at the news articles and b) he's very responsive to his fans. So let's continue to cheer him on. If the injury is going to take a long time to heal, maybe even ruling out worlds or shows this year, then we should show our solidarity for his health first. And when in doubt, go back and read point 1. When there is a will, there is a way. We're following and doubting a guy who by sheer willpower alone, got his 2nd OGM.

stop hitting me with feels, right as I get on ice to practice. Cryingwith contacts is bad, and on a public rink too. Please get well Zu. Hope your ankle chan is doing better than you feared.

What he and TCC pulled off is nothing less than a miracle. And everyone, all skaters even had to cooperate, to ensure he got his chance at gold. Could there be any other place where this was possible? Even Javi kinda lied when he said he saw Yuzu back on ice, no? All other feds and judges and coaches- sorry, you got majorly outplayed by TCC.

I have a really sick skating skills practice idea that involves a lot of Poohs. Coach Yuzu: Today children, we will work on skating skills. Students: Not again, boring! Coach Yuzu: have you ever tried to speed clean all the poohs that fall on the ice after my performances? Students: *has a bad feeling* Coach Yuzu: today, we will do an improved exercise-"Flower girl and boy upgrade version 1". You will need to clear the entire ice rink surface of poohs within a 2 minute span. You are allowed only 10 crossovers the entire time, but may freely use Chasse steps, 3 turns, rockers, counters etc, to pick up the poohs. A 1 point deduction each time you fall. Students: Coach.... Coach Yuzu: *unveils 5 machine that is based on an automatic baseball/tennis throwing machine used for practice-fitted and specially made to throw multiple poohs in a natural throwing arc on the ice, at the rate of 20 poohs/sec)* We will give the normal rate of pooh rains after my performance. Students: O_O Coach Yuzu; Alright, release the poohs! Machine starts throwing poohs manically. Coach Yuzu: students- your time starts NOW! Students: NOOOOOO!

Shade at US media? He's finished his job and is not in the bubble that is TCC. But seriously, wag of the finger at US media, and some commentators who are so "Yuzu isn't GOAT" when moments before they're all "Yuzu is the greatest ever, living legend." Or some people who were "Haha, Yuzu-what?" but after the victory went "Here's how I was right that Yuzu is the GOAT and was destined to win." Talk about two-faced. For the US media and USFed: get a hold of yourself. After the media circus put out on Nathan, I actually have a bet with a rinkmate that Nathan won't continue past the end of this season and may even skip worlds. For the sake of your future, it might be better if I'm wrong. But maybe for the sake of Nathan himself, it might be better that I'm right. The way you never focus on men's singles skating, ever, and just dump idol status and the media attention that takes several years to adjust to, in a little under a year on a teenager, is atrocious. Now instead of cheering on those who won, some of you are still dumping on the guys who podiumed. Which is atrocious not just due to manners/ethics etc, but the skater that you are trying to prop up, probably admires those skaters you are putting down so heavily-imagine being a child and having parents go "Oh but you are better than your friend Bobby, because Bobby sucks at piano." That's the equivalent-not good. As for Yuzu, take that banner that was made and wrap yourself with it. Or that birthday wishes map! There is at least 1000 lover of you per hater at exists.

Fine fine, more droids will be made for the upkeep of said forest. But on a brighter note, I'm so glad we're not panicking anymore. =) He's more focused on resting, rehabilitating and ensuring he can go back to the love of his life-pooh and gold skating. And that interview with insider skating, with the training regime at TCC, I think he'll do well. Think Brian said part of what they train for at TCC is to figure out where your power is generated, how to control it and use it to maximum efficiency, so skaters can do more with less energy used. Yuzu and Javi and Cha have some of the most difficult programs, energy draining, but they don't look more tired than the other guys. Next season with new rules on long program time, it'll be a battle not just of stamina, but how well and efficiently can you use the energy you have. I think they'll do well. And while he has trolled us many times, I sincerely hope that Yuzu will take good care of himself. The other option is a bot-Pooh operation where we turn all his poohs into AI that will hold him in place until he is well rested.

If Yuzu didn't botch his 2 jumps, his FS would have went well over 220 ( he lost a lot of points by missing that 4T combo). That 3Lz landing didn't help. And if he had both, PCS might have gone up another 2 points. I think if Nathan went clean in SP, or nearly clean in SP, poliitics would have imploded and Yuzu would still win, bc it's highly likely other judges won't give Nate the PCs he got (having a redemption skate story helps boost scores a bit since judges still want to encourage him). But anyways, Yuzu won, end of story, men's last flight wasn't a total splatfest, which is good for FS worldwide.
-
I am a bit curious what the headlines are for Nathan now. Almost all the ones I've found mention Yuzu at least once, but some said it's a redemption skate for Nate (though the tone still sounds pretty severe for a redemption skate). I'm worried this Olys might have scared him.
-
Oh c'mon, the number of guys who win the Olys gold in their first attempt is 3 in the past 70 years. Dick Button, Yuzu, and Ilia Kulik. And only 2 of them managed to win twice in a row. No one will beat his score in a long while (format changes, BV maybe being cut, even with the increase in GOEs factored in), unless he wants to beat his own score. Really, his WRs all still stand, and for SP he's the only one who got close to his own WR. What Daisuke Takahashi said about judges now valuing quality instead of just quantity is starting to ring true. If Yuzu went clean, he would have beaten Nate's LP score too, with less quads and easier quads. That's a fairly clear signal, and US better pay attention, else they'll go in the wrong direction, again.

The year of the dog, heralded in by victory of a person who was born year of the dog. =) By the way, there was an app on Tao Bao that matches your photo with a dog. I used Yuzu's and got a siberian husky!

I have something a bit more ambitious in mind, dearie.

I will join you, and then I need to think of banner ideas for GPF 2018.

Go to the men's FS thread in the competitions/events thread. There's a CBC link: https://olympics.cbc.ca/video/todays-events/olympic-medal-ceremony-feb-45669/

I feel like I fell in love with his spirit and his beautiful mind all over again. Thank you Yuzu, for delivering us a performance that reminds us of what Men's figure skating is, should be and could be: Technical omnipotence and artistic brilliance combined. I hope that you will inspire more men's skaters so that figure skating will continue to thrive.

If Yuzu doesn't go, it means Shoma, Keiji and Mura right?
-
...he likes his knees right?
-
Wow, Plushy the oracle....
-
Om....are any of the satellites in the arena alive? You guys aren't keeled over right?
-
It's a tissue box, not a plush toy. Besides, the emperor donates all the pooh tributes, as there is only one (1) Prime Minister Pooh in the palace.

It's just speculation, and I think they meant it as a suggestion that Nathan switch coaches, no official USFSA word out, and the USFSA usually does not force skaters to switch coaches. Honestly, I don't know if BOrser would gel with Nathan, especially as there is Cha still skating. I do wonder though if Nathan would switch fully to a coach like Zueva (Patrick's ex-coach) instead, especially if he still wants to pursue med school. What I would find highly amusing is if Boyang ever joins TCC. Him and Yuzu both being space cadets and audio nerds. But then I'd really worry for BOrser's hair.
-
Brian/team TCC is honestly good at the psychological aspect, just brilliant. Brilliant.
-
It's such a BS question, and there wasn't really any other way for Adam to answer it. If he says yeah, it's not fair, then it hurts Nate who happens to be a teammate. If he says no, it's a-okay, then that hurts him going forward. After Olys is still worlds. And the question has already been answered in a Times article? Anyways, at least he played it off as a joke which can be interpreted both ways. And why are the starter questions less focused on his skating and more about politics? "A Star is born"- really, where were you news people for the past couple seasons? My brain hurts.
