Yes, he must've felt the same as Keegan Messing the year before at the ACI when he was third and shared the podium with the 2 top guys in the sport, Yuzuru Hanyu and Javier Fernandez. Yuzu was only 17 when he won the bronze medal and shared the podium with Patrick Chan and Daisuke Takahashi at the 2012 World Championships in Nice. He showed unabashed joy at winning the bronze medal. That was in April 2012. In December 2012 at the Grand Prix Final in Sochi, Yuzu beat Patrick Chan and shared the podium again with Daisuke Takahashi winning gold and Patrick Chan in third place. A year after that, in December 2013 at the Grand Prix Final in Fukuoka, he beat Patrick Chan cleanly in both the short program and free skate to win his first GPF. Two months after that, Yuzu, barely 19 years old, won his first Olympic gold medal. Yuzu really is extra special.

Have you seen the 2012 Skate America Exhibition version? He was 17 years old and this was the first Grand Prix event with Brian Orser. Broke the world record in the short program and had a splat fest in the free. Still ended up with silver.

I am late to this topic, but may I suggest making it "Lord of the Rinks"?

Was live streaming of last year's ACI blocked outside of Canada? There was a Japanese broadcasting company at ACI last year, I think.

The ISU is always shooting itself in the foot. What is the rationale behind this? There probably is no rationale. Just a knee-jerk reaction to block everything. Instead of making the sport more inclusive, they are making it more exclusive. They will make it exclusive to the point of extinction.

Exactly! And Nessie teases us with little glimpses, just like Yuzu.
-
Me too! But why not both? Or all three?

We should put a paper banner around the plushy Nessie: "NESSIE" THE LOCH NESS MONSTER AKA QUAD AXEL
-
"Ogopogo" is the Canadian Loch Ness monster which has been sighted from time to time in Okanagan Lake in British Columbia. It was just sighted and briefly captured on video the other day. https://globalnews.ca/video/4442421/did-a-kelowna-man-capture-ogopogo-on-video Could this be a foreshadowing??? Nessie sighted in Canadian waters so recently?

Yuzu is now the elephant in the room.

Yuzu revisiting "Modern Times" wearing baggy janitor overalls and sporting a fake moustache?
-
But he does seem to miraculously recover... EDIT: Sorry for the consecutive posts!

Maybe a part refund... At least the youth and beauty part is working.

Looking at the videos of his visit to the school, Yuzu looks younger than ever. I wonder if he has a life-size portrait of himself hidden in a closet slowly growing old and fading à la Dorian Gray.
-
That's what's on everyone's mind. Unless he does it in the next three weeks, it will be at ACI.

I think this is a great idea! Hydro, you could start a whole new tradition! We should consider buying some and wrapping a small paper banner around the goat's back and mid-drift (taped together at the bottom) with these words printed on the banner: Yuzuru Hanyu G. O. A. T. Greatest of All Time It would be cool if the cameras zoomed in on one of these on the ice. (They are pretty small, though.)

Canada geese don't react well to three-year-old boys chasing them. I can attest to that because I was bitten on my butt by one in Stanley Park in Vancouver.

You really don't know what is going to happen tomorrow or even in the next millisecond. Hug your loved ones. Cherish every moment. RIP Denis Ten.

Yuzu is such a wise and empathetic man-child.

It's 2:30 PM in Toronto. Where the hell is Godot?

Waiting for Godot

Good morning everyone. It's 6:45 AM on the west coast of Canada and 9:45 AM in Toronto. So what do you think? 10 AM announcement? Or drag it out to the afternoon?

Was there a thread for predictions as to which two GP events Yuzu will compete in this season? I have tickets for ACI and the GPF. I'm wondering whether it is likely that Yuzu will compete at Skate Canada. Skate America is in Everett, Washington this season and this is only 2 hours drive from Vancouver; but, I doubt that Yuzu will compete there. What do you people think? When are the GP assignments going to be announced? Next week? OT: I see that Team Canada lost a couple more skaters this season. Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje announced that they will not be competing in the GP series this season. They intend to compete at Canadian Nationals in January.

Here is an English subbed version. I'm an old guy, but it still brought tears to my eyes. For a real tearjerker, there used to be a fan made video about Yuzu and Nanami Abe with this song. It's been removed.

In Japan it's almost mandatory/automatic for men to wear short-sleeved shirts in the summer season, whether it's actually warm or not. (It may actually be colder inside buildings because of air-conditioning, but they still wear their short-sleeved shirts in summer.)
