I felt it was time to have a thread dedicated to other Challenger events outside of ACI and I couldn't find one, so I'm starting this one.

Feel free to discuss events here and I'll link to specific event threads if they exist and stream threads if and when they're opened. 

Note: The thread has also been expanded to include other small competitions of the season outside of the Challenger Series.

All the events are lit, to be quite honest. I'm actually glad for the different timezones of Lombardia and US Classic because then I won't have to juggle two competitions at the same time. 

Anyways, bringing this here:

He's already competed against Nathan at Nationals. Only ones left for him would be Patrick and Shoma! And he'll go against Shoma in a GP assignment at France (and confront Javi two more times, as well as Boyang at CoC!). 

 

I only now noticed that Vincent is going to have two Challenger events plus two GP assignments. Boy is going to be busy! But since his first GP is only in November, he can afford to have a competition each in September and October, and he needs the mileage on his 5 (6?) quad FS, especially for PCS development, if he wants a chance at going to the GP Final.

Trollzuru, if he brings one at ACI, is basically a coin toss between +2/3 GOE or utter disaster.

 

Oh... I just realised the 4Lz question was in general and not just Finlandia. haha.. In that case..

Special mention but prolly wouldn't debut a 4Lz in the challenger series: Yuzuru "I've mastered the 4Lz but I don't know where to put it" Hanyu.

I just realized Mikhail, Carolina and Dabin are also doing more than one Challenger, even though they have two GP events. Possibly others I missed too.

Haha, who has the guts to fill that space?? Me neither!! What if we jinx him?? It's not a very important competition but I really want him to start the season with a win ... it's good for the spirit!! So, no prediction in there, no way!

Shanghai Trophy: November 24–26

Annoucement

 

Basically a competition that will take place at the same time as Skate America (in which Boyang is scheduled to participate) and which entries are supposed to be by invitation as follows:

4. Entries 
Participation in the “ISU Shanghai Trophy 2017 of Figure Skating” is open to the top twelve (12) skaters/couples of each category of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2017 and the top three (3) skaters/couples of the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2017 based on invitations as follows: 

• The top five (5) Ladies/Men skaters and one (1) skater from the host country for Single Skating;
• The top four (4) couples for Pair Skating; 
• The top four (4) couples and one (1) couple from the host country for Ice Dance.

In case that any of the invited skaters is unable to participate, the next best ranked skater of ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2017 will be invited. If the participants are still not enough, the top three (3) skaters of the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships will be invited.

 

I'm sure quite a few of the top skaters/couples of each category will be declining this, including Boyang! but I guess if you're not expected to make it to the GPF, you might as well sneak another competition in?

The event is approaching so fast! I can't believe it's happening and the season is starting for real
