well, i draw... but it's mostly cartoony antropomorphic and animal characters, so i'm a bit embarassed to share :embSwan:

i do draw humanoid characters on occasion though, but it's pretty sparse compared to everything else ;;

the poses are super generic bc 1) i suck at anatomy; 2) they were made for reference purposes so it wouldn't do to have something too complicated :roll2:

sadly this is all i've drawn that features humans lately, save for a couple of very tentative fanarts of yuzu i posted on the fanart thread |'D

 

if you guys wanna see more though, i'd be willing to shared my... other art, even if i'm a bit shy over it :pbow:

Wow! Thank you for sharing! I like his works. Especially this one.

 

I love appreciating arts of any kind. I love drawing and sewing too, but not good at either of them. However they help a lot when I want to calm myself. I spent a few hours doing such things before Worlds FS this year.

I guess this is a good place to drop this here. I have been having fun with graphics in GIMP ever since the banner contest, and here's some of the stuff I ended up making outside of that contest. Since I can't do fanart, I just do some graphic editing.

I feel the need to bring this thread back to life somehow haha.

 

But now that the school year is coming to an end, I can stop working on actually meaningful art  and just doodle meaningless poop in my sketchbook

i feel you, i've been so stressed with uni that i haven't drawn a single thing in weeks :c
but it's almost over now so hopefully i'll get back in action this weekend ;;

I have to draw since it's a part of my curriculum, but at the same time I can kind of feel myself burning out mentally. So it's nice being able to let off the pressure and just doodle instead of having the pressure of a portofolio.

this might be one of the biggest reasons why i didn't want to go into art school ;; aside from the fact that i don't think my art is good enough haha
i'm a psychology major so no drawing for me. except i still end up doodling in class most of the time orz

lately i've been too stressed to doodle though... too many group projects and presentations to worry about

Workload isn't horrible if you're good at pacing yourself(which I'm not...), but it is exhausting mentally. With a lot of work you can't get a clear criticism until you're done and just have to decide if you still want to keep it or scrap it

you've just confirmed it really wouldn't work for me then, i'm awful at pacing myself. procrastination is my middle name, sadly :')
withn my major i'm always at the mercy of my teachers as well, since by now i'm pretty certain they don't even think of maybe discussing schedules with each other haha
i've been doing group presentations almost every single week for the past couple of months. i had my final one today and my anxiety only skyrocketed because of the sudden influx of news over here

If I'm going to be honest, for freelancers, I'd argue art school is pretty useless, it's if you want to go to specialised areas e.g. architecture, animation, video game design etc. where you would need formal training is where art school becomes useful.

i guess that would be me, since i do take commissions occasionally. my therapist thinks i should try working with illustration as well, but idk if i'm good enough for that ;;
but yeah, i understand why you'd need to go to art school for something more specific. but for freelancers it does seem like an extra step that isn't 100% necessary...

It depends on your personal style, illustration work tend to be neither here nor there, not quite realistic, but not necessarily cartoonish unless that's the style you move towards. A lot of what makes an illustration imo is good linework, no matter how minimal. It's personally where I dwell until I had to do more realistic drawings for my portfolio last year  Though I understand that it leaves a lot open and can be pretty intimidating unless you already have an idea of what kind of illustrations you want to dive into.

 

Also I actually just got back from the art store and gold leaf sheets are so... tempting

Don't know where to put this but this afternoon I went to a showing of a documentary on the British Museums Hokusai exhibition which is on until early August.  Another Japanese perfectionist according to the film - he thought he might achieve perfection in his art if he lived to be 110 ( he made it to his 90th year) - his later paintings are even more astonishing than his earlier woodcut prints.  Anyone in the U.K. in the next couple of months should look online and consider visiting - booked my tickets last week based on student liking of his style but had no real idea til I saw the documentary. @Smultron uses his emoticon - the title of the exhibition is 'Beyond the great wave' - have a look- the documentary is brilliant apart from 2 annoying talking heads (which is probabaly a WR- usually there are three useless presenters for every person with something of interest to say) - every other commentator apart from those two had something interesting to say .
