Gift is full of rich imaginings and multi layered meaning because it comes from a genius mind

    It was the most memorable entrance, it had great impact. When the back drop split and Yuzu began to emerge, it was a symbolic rebirth. Yuzu has an aura of true majesty

    These are so pretty and imagine that they are delicious. The food art is always such a delight to see big cakes, cup cakes and cookies, coffees. It seems sad to eat them

    Please forgive my musings, but the article written by the film student has really got me thinking about this Thinking about Gift and the content of the Ice Story. The show was a carefully crafted performance created using beautiful skating programmes but also the story telling aspect. Gift did not spontaneously 'pop' into existence but is the result of a very active and creative imagination and intellect. Yuzu must have had many ideas about how he might convey his personal story and I wonder if some of his notebooks contain the seeds of these ideas, in the sense of how he would express his story given the opportunity. The filming style where Yuzu showed the two aspects of his self as the positive and negative, his journey, his times being alone, the competition timeline all of these concepts would have needed to be communicated to film maker, animators, composers, the dancers, costume designer, set designer and lighting artist and so forth. From concept to execution the amount of work in order to realise any production is enormous. The finished work of GIFT ice story is so beautifully made it is really a masterpiece and deserves huge critical acclaim. Thank you for your indulgence.
