The separate technical and presentation panels are how it's done currently in synchronized swimming as I understand, and probably a number of other judged sports. I think the idea has merit since one of the oft-quoted reasons to 'forgive' the judges' bad scoring is that they just have so much to do in so little time that 'mistakes' and inconsistencies are bound to happen. One of the things that might hold back voting in this rule though is that it will be more difficult for feds to push their agenda, since they won't have assured control of both segments of the scoring. That's just what I think anyway -- maybe I'm just thinking too calculatingly and skeptically these days.

Wondering now as well about the possibility of "corridor judging" for GOEs happening more visibly. Will some skaters be categorised and scored as +3 GOE skaters whatever they do (or whatever their reputation dictates), and those who will get the nod as +5 GOE skaters. I suppose when the new scoring system starts, we'll see a slew of scores with wide ranges in GOEs for each skater, until the judges' opinions get calibrated amongst themselves and they all agree on where the skater falls in the +3 and +5 groups. I know this is already happening to some extent now, but I imagine it will only be magnified and become more evident with the wider range in GOE scoring to be implemented.

Yeah, the Ticket Pia site was starting to sputter a few minutes ago. I figured people were getting the news and starting to flood the ticketing websites. Cross fingers someone will forget to pay for their ticket and an SS ticket magically appears.

Maybe someone will still cancel their tickets for the Kanazawa show. Though I'm not sure since when the Premiere and SS tickets have been sold out.

Checked the ePlus site for Kanazawa... no SS tickets left... And Makuhari is sold out.

I'm just wondering since he has a talk show happening at the same time too. Does it happen that they add in more appearances for a skater at a later date? But yeah, it would be difficult to predict that won't it?

No, I didn't spot any SS tickets either. Only S tickets, and A tickets for the Friday show. This is for Kanazawa. I wasn't able to check Makuhari.

These new GOE rules are starting to look like maths. It's getting so complicated I'm starting to feel sorry for the judges who continually have to be doing that extra step of deciding whether a skater's jump should be capped at +3 or not first, then decide which extra bullets apply, and how many, and how much +points those add up to, before being able to punch in that score. And they have to do this for how many jumps in a program and how many programs in a day? Maybe this is the real reason they've reduced the number of jumping passes for the men... And all this added complexity doesn't even guarantee they'll get it right in the end...

Omg yes that presscon! I didn't believe it when people started tweeting about it. But then came the photos and I was like whyyy?? That white shirt haha! I remember when 3 magazines all had essentially the same photos of Yuzu in that shirt on their cover. But then I guess they didn't think they'd have to use photos from the same stock in their next issues again. It was both sad and funny. Now I'm glad we can look back on it in amusement.
