I'm all for Yuzu being adopted as honorary European (by Finland?) and taking part in European Championships, so he can be the first non-european men to win EC since Dick Button that's DESTINY, I tell you Anyway, Helsinki got TWO olympic champions...not bad for a first time.... (it probably helped that COR was Alina's so she could attend a GP a couple weeks before). Time-wise, maybe it's not ideal to have two GP within two weeks, but the dates are quite good (tho SC wuld have been better)... tho he'll fly two times to Europe and back in two weeks (please Zuzu take care, be careful of jet lag and flu plz) Sad that Pairs and ID do't seem to have gathered big names (tho S/B will be there? Are they the top russian ID team now?)

I'll be EXTREMELY disappointed if Rika won't get the host pick for NHK. She's the only Jpn girl with the true BV potential to go head to head with Russian ladies (Wakaba & Kaori, what about a 3A?), and she NEEDS all the senior experience and the exposure to build a reputation before the debut of Eteri's jr girls. Tho she's dangerous for the other Jpn ladies at NHK, so maybe JFS would be reluctant to make that field any more crowded...but thinking long-term, I'd invest on her. Her main problem thus far has been her nerves, so yes, she needs to compete at high levels. Mako earned her spots, she medaled at JWC while Rika didn't, so no issue there. But if JSF can't see the potential of a lady with a stable 3A and training a quad... Sad that Jun Hwan got only one GP. The most interesting Men competitions will probalby be IDF with Nathan, Dima and Boyang (tho I don't think a clean Boyang can still beat a clean Nathan, more so if Nathan has a good SA) and Helsinki. COR will have many sr debutants with a bunch of quads (and Aliev and Messing) Shoma vs Vincent, even if Shoma coluld have lower BV, if he stays on his feet it will be easy. Same for Nathan. SC seems...low-key, no offence to other skaters like Jason and Kazuki but they're not going to trouble Shoma (one becasue of BV, the other because PCS). That's the difference with a skater like Misha. Actually, Misha could deserve better GOE and PCS than most of top skaters, and he has Rus fed behind. So I think Boyang, Yuzuru and Misha got the toughest GP legs overall.
-
*conspiracy theory* Yuzuru single-handedly made COC move to Helsinki so he could have the ideal schedule (not starting too early, not doing the last GP) in places that give him good vibes I feel you. So much.
-
Yuzu on a bad day could also be Yuzu ACI 2017 FS, and that could be beaten by a lot of guys Yuzu on an average day like COR 2017 could be beaten by both Boyang and Misha (Misha needs to have a clean FS for a change tho, but the potential is there, and in COR he'll be on home soil again)
-
not if Misha is clean he went past 100 with only one quad. Of course there's the huge: can he skate a clean FS? but if yes, he could beat a not clean Yuzu. He deserves good PCS and GOE when on

(4A battle)
-
another podium with a TCC bro? (possibly one like the one with Javi)
-
but there are 3 top contenders I don't think the other GP have more than 2 top contender, and it's gonna be Yuzu's first GP A clean Yuzu won't have problem, but if he makes mistakes there are 2 guys that can get over 100 and possibly 200
-
Helsinki's gonna be crowded with Yuzu, Boyang and Misha...it looks like the strongest men field of GP... I so want to fly there but argh so much more complicated than Grenoble

OMG

so no ISU announcement, but SC...oh well

-
it does say somehting about my current state of mind that I laughed hysterically at this I was killed and revived what is this thing and why am I liking it so much? of course, as biblic commandments, they're carving those darn assignment in the stone so, ISU trolling us, uh? what's new?

some things that happened to me on my quest to find the video where Max compares Yuzu's jumps to ski jumping with a tray: add Yuruzu to the list of botched names (thanks SkySport ITA) kinda pissed that Sky talked a lot more about Nathan's OWG FS than Yuzuru's victory but oh well, no Max and Angelo to keep the focus of the very important stuff also, rewatching 2nd half of OWG RJ2 and gosh, it was really good? Yuzuru got miles better in his movements but those arms moved so softly already wow, I need to rewatch it Pissed with Rai commies mentioning Yuzu WD from Milan Worlds as if he was taking a break...I mean wtf ladies, where do you get your info? He wasn't on a freaking vacation because of post-OWG stress, and why you mention some 'problem' he got before OWG without calling it for what it was, an injury he was still nursing when he won OWG? And the reason why he WD? And they were sooooo waiting to scream WR before Nathan's score came up also saying Yuzu started with the quads but Nathan continued...Boyang erasure AGAIN (well, also Patrick, Kevin and Javi erasure, but if we talk about who pushed boundaries in hte last quad, it should be Yuzu, BOYANG and Nathan) btw @wingman here's the video about ski jumping comparison with a tray of pastries I think Max also compared with skijumper with a tray of glasses once but I can't remember where LOL a (longish) summary for those who don't speak italian: a bit of a talk about the Grand Slam and both S/M and Yuzu winning GPF, OWG and WC gold in one season (but missing one title for the grand Slam), a bit of history (mention of how the sport has changed, how it's difficult to say who's the greatest between Aljona and Sonja Henie because different athleticism required, different level of competition and so on), then off talking about jr girls starting doing intricate element following Yuzu's path of quality and complete package because people who skate can recognize an athlete's greatness and these are the athletes we will remeber, in 100 years he'll be a legend of FS again how it's difficult to compare between different eras when a sport evolves and has such a long history, so not only the titles matter (to say this or that athelte is great/greater than others) and we still haven't seen the real impact of Yuzuru, we'll see it in the next quad with the jr ladies who wants to 'emulate' Hanyu in how they enter and exit jumps, like Hanyu who tried to make a jump more than the mere rotations in the air. Here's when Max compares Yuzu's jumps with all his entries and exits to ski jumping (from around 4.40): 'it's as if someone reached the 200 m (I guess that's a lot for ski jumping) holding a tray of pastries, compared with those who do the same but without holding anything' (I guess without dropping them LOL) they mention he's been followed by other athletes in this approach, also among men (I add: Shoma with his 3A and 4T, for example. In some other videos Max&Angelo mention this, so I'm adding this bit for anyone who may think they have something against Shoma. They don't. They praise some things, they criticize others. Heck, they have even ranked him as the best re: use of upper body, tho I disagree about this LOL I have a thing for Yuzuru's boneless arm movements)

I wanna complain for a moment that I'm stuck in a timezone midway between the two places where Yuzuru lives so unfair back on topic: so now it's 11 am in Toronto. c'mon, I'm not ready!
-
I've seen his name pop up (maybe on the other place) as skares with some potential to land 4A, so I'm still rooting for Yuzu tho re: Max quote I think I've heard it in a non-subbed video, I'll try and find it again. Maybe even more than one video, but I only remeber the one I've watched recently maybe on IN they'll talk about the rise of Russian ladies and Asian ladies&men...those are some pretty big stories in the FS world in the last 20 years... I mean, if Yuna is 4th and Yuzu is 3rd it must be something pretty EPIC for the overall sport... Or the quad revolution (so they can both talk about Jr ladies and US sr Men ) wait, have they already talked about Adam?
-
maybe the top one will be about IN closing off
-
so what's left? it must be something really big... I believe the n.1 will be for something US tho... ETA: they could still talk about the quad revolution, why not ETA2: glad that the policy for offtopic on the planet isn't as strict
-
we're getting wild LOL
-
Now I'm laughing, the first retweet with comment by Max in a long time is about Zu ETA: also what is this thing?
-
so all this suffering will make for a wonderful season...I hope so!
-
while everyone worries about GP assignments, Olympic Channel released again that video of Plushy talking about Yuzu and 4A and 2022
