I feel so much better now knowing that he is back home with his family. Thank you for letting us know this.

I'm not really surprised by this. I was worried last season when Yuzu added the quad loop. But then he finally mastered it and I thought great; he's successfully added a third quad and he can spend this season refining all his elements for the Olympics. But then it was the 4 lutz and how he must have that too in order to remain competitive with the younger kids. But Yuzu is no longer a teenager and he's had several injuries already--including injuries to his ankle. And ankle sprains often become chronic problems and are easily re-injured. I wish his fans would stop pushing him regarding increasing his technical content. There is so much more to his skating than the quad jumps. And he already has one OGM; it will not damage his legacy if he doesn't get a second one. He will still be the Torvill and Dean of Men's Figure Skating--that is, the best ever in the history of the sport.

So typical of Yuzu to be concerned that he caused people to worry instead of just being focused on himself.
-
Is the rest of Yuzu's family with him there or just his mother? Being so close to the Olympics, this must be devastating for him.

This is one of the many things I love about Planet Hanyu--we can come to this troll-free place and support each other during times of crisis.

They have him making love to a cup of hot chocolate! That product is going to be flying off the shelves now!

General Skating Chat
GreatLakesGal replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
No, you most certainly are not alone in being concerned. I've wondered about that quad jumping child too and also about his parents. And it's not just the physical body that can be damaged but the child's long-term psychological health as well.- 6,825 replies

This is what's happening for me too. Works okay and then doesn't work okay and then I get that error code again. Has happened with both Safari and Chrome. I'll go back to watching Stranger Things on Netflix until you smart tech people figure out the strange happenings here.

Costumes we love to hate

Yuzu would never forget to wear boot covers with a costume like this. Details, details. -
General Skating Chat
GreatLakesGal replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Not this Planet Hanyu gal. As much as I appreciate Patrick's skating skills, I find his artistry/musicality to be lacking compared to many other skaters. What he does well he does very well but his range seems very limited to me. He should ask Eric Radford to compose all his music for him because Eric knows how to showcase his amazing skating skills.- 6,825 replies

This is turning into quite a year for Marina. First Gracie, now Patrick. I've happy for Keegan. I'm sure he'll give it his all and appreciate the experience of skating another GP event in a country where figure skating is so popular.

Hahaha. That is absolutely perfect. And I think the gentleman in my avatar would agree too. This works for me too!

Just like Tara Lipinski continued to skate competitively after winning her OGM.

[2017/18] Senior Men of the Grand Prix circuit
GreatLakesGal replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
It's possible that Patrick is feeling down because he's coming to terms with the reality that his chances for winning that elusive OGM are probably nil at this point. Going against Yuzu and Javi is one thing; going against those two plus Uno and Chen and Jin has to be his worst nightmare. Based on what he said in interviews when he resumed competing after taking a year off, he did not anticipate that his competition would be this tough. And his continued coaching issues can't have helped him either. -
Yes, there are limits to how much the judges can lowball a skater without appearing obviously corrupt. I just hope they're smart enough to realize that.
-
I love H&L too but we haven't seen his best Seimei 2.0 yet. Watching the guys at Skate Canada tonight reminded me of just how unique and special Yuzu is.
-
So he had his surgery in Regina and not Toronto. Hope he's doing okay.
-
I wouldn't make any assumptions about what he's planning to do after the Olympics. He may not be sure himself at this point.

Thanks for posting this. Very interesting stuff. Brian confirms for me what I've always thought: That having the same coach as one of your closest competitors has some serious drawbacks.

General Skating Chat
GreatLakesGal replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I agree. Chen is overrated and Jin is underrated. And I can tell you why: Chen's an American with a strong skating federation and they are calling in all their chips to try and get him an OGM. Figure skating is pretty much dead in my country and the USFSA is desperate to try and revive it. They (stupidly) think that someone winning an OGM will do the trick and, for a time, they pinned their hopes on Gracie Gold and Jason Brown. But that didn't work out as planned and so now they're hoping Nathan can do it for them.- 6,825 replies

Perhaps your sibling is just trying to annoy you? You should show her that photo of him surrounded by all those gorgeous female skaters.

Delighted to hear that Karen has "trashed" Carmen. The new music sounds like a great choice for her and I'm looking forward to seeing her FS now.

He looks so cute--like his mom dressed him!

Loved Adam's comment on IceTalk about Ashley skating to her "greatest hits." I'm really rooting for him--land that quad lutz, Adam!

Bev Smith's piece does not make me want to root for Osmond.
