  1. Is this the exclusive confession? Yuzu returns to his old Oly programs?
  2. I don't know, if this has been shared here already, but it made me so emotional. Yuzu is amazing, when he skates to recorded music, but performing live with the musician is next level of magic. He really listens to the artist and the music so carefully. He even managed to tell white and black piano keys apart without watching. This strong bond between Yuzu and the music makes his skating so extra special... I'm sure, it would be amazing to watch him live with Hisaishi, too.
  3. Yuzu's exclusive confession before 4CC: "Yeah, I know. Many of my fans will be shocked, but after Christmas I decided to...
  4. Well, Yuzu has conquered Mount Olympus already. Twice. Next target: the Rings of Saturn.
  5. Well, the chance is VERY high that 4CC will be less frustrating and therefore much more enjoyable than Worlds. I don't see any skater in the 4CC entry list, who is famous for excessive overscoring, aye?
  6. I'm looking forward to this competition so much! We have hope to see some really really good skating and entertaining performances again. Not a painful jumping contest. Another Skate Canada-like competition would be sooo healing for my skating soul
  7. Yup. Imagine Yuzu designing his programs without looking into the rulebook and having more than one evening to learn the choreo (hello Masquerade...) How breathtaking that could be...
  8. Sadly I missed Hendry at his competitive peak (I became a Snooker fan in 2014). I rewatched some of his matches and appreciate his amazing skills. However, it's just not the same feeling, when you know the result already... I have no idea what kind of confession before 4CC that will be, but the word "confession" sounds quite... serious? I hope that it won't be anything sad My little heart needs good Yuzu news.
  9. It's very difficult to compare athletes of different sports, but I agree with you. a) Both Phelps and Yuzu are THE Olympic faces. Phelps of the Summer Games, Yuzu of the Winter Games. b) They are famous for their longevity. Even if they didn't win every single competition, they were always among the top favorites (if not THE top favorite) for the gold for decades. c) They shine with their versality and total package. Phelps was the best medley swimmer of his era and unbeatable in any position (except breaststroke). Yuzu is famous for his total package as a figure skater, who combines hardest technique with appealing choreography like nobody else.
  10. It's crazy how similar this season's progression of my two favorite athletes is Tournament issues in September: Yuzu had to deal with phantom calls. Neil Robertson couldn't find the venue. Peak in late October/early November: Yuzu scored 322 at Skate Canada. Neil became the Champion of Champions 2019. Hard times in December/January: Yuzu lost at GPF and JNats. Neil had multiple first round defeats. A few minutes ago Neil won the European Masters 2020 with a historical 9:0 whitewash in the final. Is that a sign for Yuzu and 4CC...? #Footnote: Neil Robertson is an Australian Snooker player, who became the first in history to play 100 Century Breaks within a season (2014). No other player in the world could do this so far. It's a bit comparable with 100 quad jumps with positive GOE in one season. That means a) you need remarkable skills to complete even one, b) you have to compete a lot and b) be in top form for a whole season. It's an insane achievement. Most players cannot reach 100 centuries in their entire career of 20-25 years.
  11. I feel exactly the same... Brian's interviews cause me both physical and mental pain Thank God, there is Yuzu with cats.
  12. "You know, Yuzu had a very difficult schedule, doing NHK, the Grand-Prix Final and then Japan Nationals. He did many trips in a short time. He was deflated coming back from Nationals, since he didn’t win. It took a while to get his competitive spirit back. In fact, he was exhausted and he needed to rest!" Yeah, totally understandable. I mean: even I was completely exhausted after GPF and JNats. I don't want to imagine how it must have felt for Yuzu. "Nathan will be at Four-Continents as well, and he’ll be competitive…" So, Nathan plans to compete at 4CC, too?! Oh, well. That much about my tiny hopes for stress-free 4CC Yuzu with cats is all you need to be happy
  13. As a teacher and researcher I know a bunch of strategies to learn +200 new names within a week Independent from this it's a really great idea! My pin badge would probably look like this: Planet name: Henni147 Real name: Henni147
  14. Wonderful performance and the dresses work so well with the music! I LOVE the concept and choreography! I can feel so much Sakura Yuzu in it
  15. Ice shows 2020: FaOI: Yuzu and friends SOI: Yuzu and rivals-who-are-actually-no-rivals-but-best-bros-hugging-and-cuddling-and-praising-each-other I see that coming
  16. I think I know the reason, why Yuzu wants to skate at SOI... He WANTS that hug with PChiddy. No matter what. It's the back-up event in case that they miss each other at Worlds.
  17. Theory: With the gigantic height, distance and rotation speed that Yuzu needs for the 4A, he might be able to land a 4F from a double-3-turn, too. So the order of practice makes sense And aye. 4CC 2017 was the first competition that I watched as a fanyubie and where I looked up the time schedule weeks before to prepare myself. At that time I had no clue about planned layouts and pops and stuff, so I didn't even realize what a YOLO miracle that actually was
  18. People talk about 1-foot-skating and 2-foot-skating. In Yuzu's case you can also measure the ratio of 0-foot-skating. It might be bigger than you think
  19. Can we please talk about the height of this stag leap, because I feel like
  20. My bet: Step 1: conquer the Monster of Loch Ness. Step 2: beat the competitive field. Step 3: destroy the judging system. Step 4: shut the narratives. Step 5: continue with wings.
  21. Por una cabeza is my all-time favorite music piece. Love the tango scene in Scent of a Woman EDIT: I just couldn't resist to share this legendary scene. Al Pacino playing the blind and retired Army Ranger, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade, is unmached
  22. Thank you so much The updated version (with a watchable Parisienne Walkways sequence) is online now! You can find it under the same link. This video project made me really emotional. It's like travelling back in time and following Yuzu's full journey and growth as a senior skater. I got to know him in December 2016, so I missed many key events in his competitive career. This montage gave me back a little bit of what I missed in the past. That was really nice. The truth is. It's impossible for me to pick a favorite step sequence. If I chose LGC, I would feel bad for Seimei and Otonal and Origin and PW and Ballade and H&L and... They are all so amazing in their own way. It's really hard to find two sequences that resemble each other. They are totally unique in their style, rhythm, moves, maturity and atmosphere. This video is only a 10 minutes long excerpt of Yuzu's career, but it shows his versality and incredible development as a skater. In competition you get less than five points for a step sequence, but for me it's the heart and signature of the program. You see the sequence and you know, what the story of the whole program is about (if there is any). #Footnote: Technically they do not belong to the step sequence, but for me the 3F in H&L and the 3Lz in Origin are a part of the sequence. That's why I put them in. It felt wrong to cut them off.
  23. Here it is!!! I decided to edit it immediately and upload it on my GDrive. I recorded the video in 1080p and you are free to download it, if you like. I just hope that the LGC track won't cause me any trouble Some annotations: 1. I overlayed all sequences with the original music track, so there are no commentary voices, screams, clapping or other distracting background sounds. 2. Programs that Yuzu used for multiple seasons are only included once, so PW, Ballade and Seimei will appear a bit later in the montage (don't worry, they are still there ). 3. I was really torn to put the R&J step sequence from Nice with the legendary fall into the clip, but at the end I picked a different version with the planned choreo. *gomen* EDIT: I just saw that the clip of PW has weird quality, so I'm re-uploading a new version. It should be online in ca. 30 minutes soon My editor hates me today.
  24. If you are interested, I can edit a collection of all step sequences that Yuzu did in his competitive career. I'm sure that would be amazing 20 minutes of skating.
  25. It's a bit late, but happy new year everyone!!! To celebrate 2020, I edited a short video (720p) of the Seimei step sequence without clapping or other background sounds. Just Yuzu and the music. Right on the note. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dzfoQWOZgFdvXC8curZefkkXxeKP8qUC
