  13. I rewatched Otonal after watching Chen's SP (sorryyyy), I actually like the uneven choreography of the program. The first calm part with less movement is important in terms of introducing or inviting audience into the storytelling. The second part with tense music and bodily movement let the program reach to its peak. The arrangement of the pace is smart. I don't think a good performance means you need fill out the whole program with complex footwork from the beginning to the end. That would be disaster since it is not a story, lacks of theatric narrative, no distinction between interlude and culmination, in other words, tedious for sure. So I am glad to see Yuzu's movement arrangement is perfectly artistic. BUT there are indeed some moments, may a few seconds, I think can add to more details like the spread eagle pass through the Juges can be added with some arm movements. And the entry into the second part the crossig through the whole ice rink can also have more complex trajactory. I just envision a more detailed program would be presented in future competition.
  14. Just watched Nathan Chen's SP in Skate American 2018. I see a lot improvement and I am glad he makes the program more vivid by adding more body movement. But they still look a lit bit stiff... I know it not fair to compare him with Yuzu. But as long as you watched Yuzu's performance it is hard to not compare others with him. Yuzu is THE standard.
  15. Believe is my favorite EX program. And yes the orange sweet-melon-ish color is so gorgeous and makes me speechless!

  17. Jack, if the above text is based on your diligent research of all Yuzu's video taps, than you are a cute fanboy!
  18. I try to find a map to get out his eyes.
  19. I think the point is not whether you choose the music from your own cultural background, but rather whether you personally have certain connection with the music per se. The music resonates with you in certain way, and in turn you bring out that affection and understanding. When you have that feeling you would be released from the mechanic enactment abided to principal, internalizing the rhythm and melody in your body movement. The music as outside thing becomes one with you. That's the idea of Zen philosophy.
  20. Agree, at least you need build some connection to the music you choose so you have chance to excercise your own agency in creating and performing the program.
