If I remember, Yuzuru revisited the site of his collision with Han Yan in a later competition in that same arena. He skated to the spot where it happened and touched the ice. He appeared to be getting some closure for himself. Does anyone else remember it? I wonder if he will do that again if WTT actually happens.

While I can't say I'm looking forward to his r********t, I am really interested to see what shape his future career will take. Perhaps in time he will reinvent the skating academy format (TCC Japanese style?). He's moved the sport forward, as they say, and reinvented the ice show format with Continues. Whatever he chooses to do, he will undoubtably be an innovator. So there's something to look forward to in that.

Yeah, my hangup about where I live (Eastern seaboard) is waiting for the inevitable next hurricane to come. It's that time of year. One is one too many IMHO. My friends also consider me weird for liking figure skating. They are hockey fans, so I just tell them I like my skaters with front teeth.

Me too. I've often wondered if he's ever skated outdoors on a lake.

Maybe he'll throw down some school figures (for the organizers' edification) and just go back to his seat.

These last several comments explain why I picked my name. All but one of my friends are dismissive about figure skating, so I don't want to admit how much time I spend following my figure skating idol. Time well spent, IMHO.

If it wasn't for Yuzuru: I would never have heard of Joe Hisaishi, which led me to watching Studio Ghibli films, which led me to watching any eng sub Japanese movie I can get ahold of, which led to studying Japanese. I would not have rekindled my love for the sport, which fell off a few decades ago. I would never have travelled by myself to Helsinki to watch a competition live ( I would never have even thought of doing anything like that, and I would not have ended up in a fan cam on YT . Many thanks to all the seasoned satellites who posted info on how to get tickets and do the trip). Finally, because of Yuzuru, I stop and think WWYHD? when I'm about to cut corners on a task or project. He is really an inspiration.
