  1. There's that, but there's also the fact that even in his native Japanese, his use of language is (so I've been told) advanced and complex. Someone like that, who is used to having a wide vocabulary fluently at his disposal to articulate his deepest thoughts, is naturally going to find it intensely painful to have to stumble along, trying to express those same thoughts with an extremely limited vocabulary that doesn't come tripping off the tongue as he would like. It's like asking Gustave Klimt to redraw 'The Kiss', but using only one hand, one eye, and no colours. It's possible, but the results will be questionable.
  2. yes, once. Most upsetting encounter with a stranger I have ever had, in some ways. It's rare to meet people with that level of delusion.
  3. I can't read it but my guess is the three jump-chans are coming to the realization that they're all equal and what does it mean, and Pooh is concerned.
  4. No, it was the one at the Olympics itself. It was literally the next day after the medal ceremony or something like that. It's infamous for the moderator telling the press that Yuzu would answer English questions in English and his reaction was , then later . Literally. This emoji is taken from that very moment. Here, I found it: If that's not it, then it was the one after the SP, which I can't seem to find on YouTube, but the Planet has it:
  5. As he said, he was having fun with all his might once the competition was over. What's a bad ankle compared to that? Pfft! Meanwhile, fanyus are left clutching their hearts, staggering around, warbling "My nerves! My heart! My sanity! Arghrghrghrgh!"
  6. Remember how we all lost it over the costume, and couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry? But he was jumping, so it didn't matter...
  7. In my opinion, the real troll that time was him not saying a word to anyone about how he felt and then casually dropping the bomb at the post- medal news conference that he was on painkillers the whole time.... Please, never again.
  8. Super Javi as a video game character? That would be a laugh!
  9. I know that's why I love Finland 😍
  10. Not to put too fine a point on it, but it would frankly be strange if he was anywhere else right now. If the rink can't open, there's nothing for him or his mom to be doing in Toronto, and as far as I can tell, all his business obligations (sponsorships etc) are in Japan. Not to mention his home and family. Simple logic would dictate that he is in Japan.
  11. I'll bet he does! They need to make Helsinki a permanent stop on the Grand Prix series.
  12. Wow, when you think about it, that's a crazy amount of work...basically 16 minutes straight of competition level skating, non stop, over and over again. I mean yes she could take it a little easy on the warmup parts but oof! And how long would it take her to get to the point of 'her body couldn't do anymore'? Two hours? Three? Guess the joke about 'Eteribots' isn't so far off the mark.
  13. Page 4 of the "Detailed List of Stage 1 Openings" that the provincial government released has figure skating listed under 'Individual sports competitions without spectators' , so for now no fans or audience will be allowed except for guardians accompanying minors.
  14. Is anyone surprised? The man doesn't change his tune for anything, does he?
  15. I thought we'd all agreed that getting a catastrophic injury in the fall and coming back to win a major competition in February or March with little on-ice training was henceforth to be known as 'pulling a Yuzu' or maybe, 'the Hanyu maneuver" ? He's done it twice now. (yes I know he only got silver in 2019 - but a lesser man would have failed to podium so I count it a win). Joking apart, I think the one that is going to end up named after him is the side lunge pistol pose from PW. Everything else he does already has names.
  16. Ditto. The fact that Kolyada wasn't able to skate last year and missed SCI, meaning I wasn't able to see him skate, remains a great disappointment. I'd really like to see him live.
  17. The ice looks fairly level to me...I think it's just that the film is warped. It very old footage and was probably originally recorded on film.
  18. Yes, but it would have been better if they'd gone back and found the boy who'd never watched FS before, and asked him what he thought, after everything was over. I would love to see a 'before&after' compilation of FS fan virgins who've never seen Yuzu skate live ...would be so much fun!
  19. Apart from what it's all about, this post has one of the most astounding and incredibly florid floral arrangements I've ever seen. After all this, I have but one conclusion...there is considerable writing talent amongst the Russian figure skating world when it comes to wielding a subtle knife...I've never seen so much shade delivered so smoothly. Never mind jumps and spins, this is what RusFed should be scored on.
  20. Oh that was a bad one. I've never wanted brain bleach more than after reading that! Some people are psycho but don't realize it as proven by this incident.
  21. I got Notte Stellata...maybe because Pooh-san is my favorite coach?
  22. Brian doesn't start early season training at TCC until July anyway, so there's no need for Yuzu to rush back right now. He can wait to see if the restrictions are going to change anytime soon. Reality is, until the ISU makes decisions about how the next season of competition will proceed, Yuzu's probably perfectly fine remaining in Sendai.
  23. Someone has to stop the insanity...but how?
